How many high schools are in Pike County. Do all of them have football programs?

To my knowledge:
Pikeville High School
Pike Co. Central High School
Belfry High School
East Ridge High School
Shelby Valley High School
Phelps High School
^All of the above have football teams.

Could you imagine the sports program if they were all combined?

That will never happen. Do you realize that Pike Co. is the largest county by land-mass in the state? No way would they consider running buses out that far to pick up/drop off kids, especially with the way gas prices are now.
I couldn't even begin to imagine the mess with the roads during the winter. One side of the county might be fine, while the other is iced up. It would be a terrible mess.
I could imagine that the school would certainly have a lot more kids to choose from for the teams, but logistically I don't see it working.

I agree but if it could man they would be a contender for a championship every year in every sport.

But just think how many would not get to play a sport! ! ! !

Lol, combining them would be crazy. It takes about an hour and 15 minutes to get from Virgie to Phelps.

I must have not been clear in a earlier post, I apolochize for that. I said could you imagine what the sports program would be like if all the schools combine.
I never meant to suggest that it would happen or that it would be feasible for the schools to combine. Just what the sports program would be if all the students were at one school.
Once again i apolochize for not being clearer on the subject.

You make a great point. That would be a huge downside to the sports program.

I have thought this over many times in my head. O well haha.

Forget combining all the schools..just combine Belfry and Pikeville and create a 5A school.

I agree with being a contender every year in every sport but I don't think that the pros would outweigh the cons. The biggest con being every second string athlete being benched all season or not playing at all. There would be no use for them. You could have an entire team of first strings.
