Bowling Green 2012

Bowling Green
The Purples will have at least 10 seniors this season, bringing experience from last year’s 23-12 season.
Four Bowling Green players – senior Scooter Hollis and sophomores Nacarius Fant, Clay Stivers and Devin Hayes – are still playing with the basketball program, which competes in the state tournament this week.
“When you graduate a group, somebody’s got to step up and take their place,” BG coach Dan Mosier said. “We’ve got some big shoes to fill, but I’m confident in the guys we have out here. This is a great senior class. It was in basketball. It was in football.
“That’s a good thing because the expectations were good for them, and they got a taste of the ultimate success. We’re hoping we can do something similar here.”
The Purples will use a committee system for now at first base, third base and designated hitter, Mosier said, depending on who’s on the mound.
Senior pitchers Derrick Brock and Jackson Sowell should lead the way, but the Purples have the potential to go as deep as six or seven hurlers, Mosier said.
“It all depends on matchups,” he said. “That’s why it’s such a crapshoot come tournament time – the draw, the matchups. Two years ago, we were the one seed and Warren East was the four, and here comes Mark Biggs. All I know is that there are going to be a lot of competitive games this year.”
BG opens at 7 p.m. Thursday at home against Barren County.
