Williamsburg 70 - Pineville 22
#1
another big scoring night for the yellow jackets
#2
Congrats Williamsburg.

I guess they keep going out to make a statement to prove that they do deserve their spot in the WYMT 10.
#3
^ I think W'burg is a little better than most ppl think.

They definately can put points up. My question is when do these kids get pulled.
#5
they pulled them late in the 3rd
#6
Heard the game lasted over 3 Hours.
#7
good lord, Pineville is decent, put it on McCreary. Looks like holier than thou almighty gods gift to american football Bell County played the wrong Yellow Jackets. Williamsburg is the best team on log mtn tonite.
#8
there was a kid that got hurt for pineville that took 30 min to asses. Refs were giving water breaks due to heat issues, also all the scoring slows the game down tremendously.
#9
Im sorry i shouldnt bash Bell County all the time, they have a good team, seems like they have good teams. Im just old school Middlesboro, back to the days when Middlesboro would smoke Bell County, even Pineville would smoke them. Back to topic, Williamsburg is surely legit. Very well could challenge in class A
#10
congrats to williamsburg
#11
It sure was hot today. 3 hours is along time.
#12
WBurg continues to roll in a big way.
#13
The Burg keeps it rolling. Any stats? :pondering:
#14
No surprise here.
I tried to tell you guys....
#15
Williamsburg is the real deal in A fellas. Sizemore is hands down the best qb in the mountains, and probably one of the best in the entire state. Only a Junior.
#16
Congrats Williamsburg!
#17
How is the boy who was hurt and what is his status?
#18
You mean the Burg didn't call off the dog's like they said they did against Harlan. Anyway, congrats to the Jackets.

Good teams never like to lose and do struggle with it.

I think one of the reasons Herron didn't pull the starters sooner is to get to a 45 point lead as soon as possible. This triggers the continuous clock and gets the game over sooner. The fewer plays the teams run to finish out the game, the lesser the risk of a kid getting hurt.

The City-County games have been great the past two years. Middlesboro and Bell County have been very good hosts. The two stadiums are only a few miles apart but couldn't be more different. Lee Majors Field is right in the middle of town, with the Coke plant at one end and 15th Street at the other. Sitting in the visitors' stands at Log Mountain, all you can see in any direction is the football field, the school building and TREES! You can't even see the road. It's a great venue too. This is one Williamsburg fan who hopes we get invited back next year.

A couple of observations about the Pineville players (who all made a great effort, btw). First off, I hope the Pineville kid who left on the stretcher is OK. Second, Tanner Mike is as much a stud as people say. I don't remember the last time I saw a player at an level give as much. He left EVERYTHING he had on the field... much love and admiration!

Burg is a great team after watching them first hand. They will go far in the playoffs.

Williamsburg jumped out to an early lead thanks to some mistakes by Pineville, Pineville keep fighting and with a couple of Williamsburg mistakes made a game of it. Hats off to Pineville for the heart they showed. Hope the hurt kid is ok. As far as the other two teams on Log Mountain. They are on a different level from Williamsburg. Don't think you can compare.

I agree that Williamsburg would have a tough night against Bell County. We would give up 30 to 40 pounds per player on the line plus we have a BUNCH of kids who play both ways. Also, the Bobcats are quite a bit older, with 14 seniors (per the roster on Riherds). There are several other reasons, too numerous to go into.

I have to disagree that Williamsburg is on a different level than Middlesboro. At least, 'burg isn't on a LOWER level. Most of our starting skill players and several linemen were the core of our middle school team that won the Division III State Championship two years ago. They're now sophomores. These kids beat Middlesboro consistently in middle school.

With the two high schools now having the same kids with the same two years worth of growth and coaching, I don't see how Williamsburg could be on a LOWER level than Middlesboro. It would be a good game regardless.

Agree... disagree?

I don't think Bell on a different level than Williamsburg. I think it could be a good game. I have watched the Bell Harlan scrimmage film and Harlan was not outmatched at all. I think you will see next week also Harlan take care of Mboro by about 3 td's.

I don't think M'boro is on W'burg's level. Unless they have drastically improved since last season and after losing Tanner Mike to P'ville it sure hasn't helped. Major Edwards isn't anywhere near the caliber of QB that Chase Roark was and that's not to say that Edwards isn't a good QB. I'm looking for the Dragons to take care of business by a couple td's if not more against M'boro next week at home. Last season's game was a barn burner.

IMHO can't compare middle school to high school. Two completely different levels. Kids change, get stronger, faster, kids transfer in from other schools!

I would like to see Middlesboro and Wburg play though. Just thinking it might be too early in the season to saying Williamsburg could play with Bell.
