Very surprising.... thought Bourbon was on a roll that wouldn't be slowed until November.Bath has been a pleasant surprise all season.
#5
Congratulations to Bourbon County. I'm very proud of Coach Hodge and his staff.
#6
great game!
#7
Love the bath county gameplan... Solid...
#8
Great call to go for two in 2nd OT for the wildcats... Absolute right call
#9
Bath fumbled at the 3 yard line to go ahead in regulation. Bath had an int. on 4th and goal from the four yard line. Bath held Bourbons high powered offense scoreless in the second half. Great game by both teams. Maybe Bath will earn a little respect now.
#10
Both teams arent too shabby as i believe they was Baths 1st loss of the season.
#11
Bath lost 33-6 to Fleming County.

What was their game plan? Bath, from what I have witnessed, hasn't been very impressive from the 3 or 4 games I have watched. They just seem to get some really good breaks I guess. Did Bourbon just over look them?
#13
Sounds like a good game.

No Bourbon Co did not overlook them I can assure you. Bath Co just played with them. And I do not know what really good breaks you are speaking of. To be honest, Bath Co should have won the game last night when Hopkins fumbled the football thru the corner of the endzone in the first overtime after Bath Co scored. After a discussion among the officials the decided to rule him down and spot the ball at the 1 yard line and called it second down.

And the game plan was simple...play like you can. Bath Co's defense gave Bourbon fits because they were more physical on the line than Bourbon and limited the big plays from Hopkins.

Bourbon County's team is weird.

Anyone who is big up front will give them fits because their o-line is definitely their downfall. That being said they are as athletic as any team outside of Central in 3a, and will give any team fits that they can create seams against. The same goes on defense, their linebackers and DBs are extremely good, but their d-line is not, and most success against them comes right between the tackles from what I have seen in the couple of game I have watched this year. .

I did attend the game last night, and it was pretty much the same story. Bourbon struggled mightily trying to run the ball between the tackles. I will say that Bourbon looked really sluggish, and that the game may have been a bigger game for the kids from Bath (idk why, it was for the district title). Bath showed up in a charter Bus, and their sideline was very pumped up. It was a great atmosphere to play football in, and you could tell Bath really fed off of the energy from their fans.

Whoever Bourbon sees between Bath and Garrard it will now be a revenge game, and one you wouldnt want to miss.

The tour bus belonged to the grandparents of a player from Bourbon Co. Bath played the second half without two defensive starters (DT and Safety). GREAT high school game to watch. Bourbon fumbled out of the endzone on a Hopkins carry that would have ended the game with the correct call in the first OT.

Congrats Bourbon Co

They won't see Bath or Garrard again.

That would mean that Russell would beat Garrard Co in 2 weeks and I don't see that happening. In reading some other posts and threads I am not the only one who thinks that. I personally think Bath Co and Bourbon Co will play in the Regional Finals. But that is my opinion. You have yours. The proof will be in the pudding so to speak in a few weeks. Best of luck to you.

Opinions vary. We will see.

I don't think Bath beats Fleming either.
#21
Hopkins never fumbled the ball in the first overtime don't know were that came from, Bourbon only ran 2 plays in the first OT it was Hopkins up the middle to the 5 yard line then Hopkins around the right side untouched for the TD, It was a great game played by both teams for the District Championship I take my hat off to Bath and wish them the best of luck, but I'm impressed with Bourbon County who many always talk about their line being small and their weak point they played as a team fed the ball to Hopkins & the Bourbon Defense made a HUGE play against Bath to stop them on the 1.5 yard line to win the game, Great Job to the Bourbon County team & it's Coaches !!!! Go BC !!!

I stand corrected. I had a friend correct me. The play in question was in the 2nd OT but that doesn't matter. It was a great game all around. Bath Co is wishing Bourbon Co the best of luck and look forward to a rematch.

Yeh,, you maybe right,, Bourbon might not get by Lewis!

Garrard/Bourbon matchup, We'll find out in 2 weeks. Bath/Bourbon
matchup, we'll know in 3 weeks.... Hoping for a Garrard/Bath rematch
myself!!!

I'd say Bourbon will be waiting for the Home rematch with Garrad if they get past Russell !!!!
#26
Personally I'm hoping for a Russell/Mason rematch. Russell really gagged that one up against the Royals.

I don't see anybody on that side of the bracket beating Mason.

Didn't Mason County struggle with Harrison County and only put them away late in the 4th Qtr for their only non-district win?

Aside from East Ridge, Harrison County was probably the weakest team Belfry faced this year and the Breds put up around 300 yards on HC. I know that was Week 4, but I still will find it hard for a team to struggle with a squad like Harrison to be considered a vast favorite over a Bourbon or Garrard. FWIW, Bourbon beat Harrison 51-8.

Bourbon's lopsided win over Madison Southern is actually looking like the best non-district win of any of these teams.Madison Southern's only other losses were to Wayne County (8-1) and Pulaski County (7-2) by a combined 2 points.

Bourbon, Russell and Garard are all on the opposite side of the bracket from Mason. The Royals will have Bath and Fleming to contend with.

Mason did struggle with some teams early but has really come on. They have a strong running game and a young QB that is really progressing. I know they beat Harrison 37-22. Don't really know the specifics of how that game played out.
