Yes it sure was, I was there. This needs to be a thread, it would be a thorn in Highlands fans' side. I will do my part to keep the thread open all year.

I don't know who wins this. But I will definitely say Belfry better just keep the ball on the ground. Henry Clay has a real ball hawking defensive backfield. A good sized drop off in terms of overall coverage ability between their ones and twos though. But their ones are VERY good.

I'm just excited to see what the Pirates are gonna bring to a game time situation. It's hard to tell what's what in practice. Hopefully they can at least keep the game close against Henry Clay. Hoping they can pull it off and get a W. Horton looks to be a beast again this year laying some good hits in practice and Hatfield at fullback. Henry Clay will get to know him real well. Can't wait for football on Pond creek.

It's going to be a tough year if you ask me.. We have a tough schedule, and arguably the toughest district in 3a this year. PC &LC will both play us well, but I think we still have the edge. As for Henry Clay I say it's close to start but they pull on us after half... We don't have a passing threat and they will recognize that and adjust to stop our run. 35-21 H.C.

Okay, I did my research and found some individual stats about Henry Clay. This game will NOT be a cake walk, IMO. I'm pulling for Belfry, and I do believe they can win. However, they better limit their defensive errors, and be sharp on EVERY play.

This is a tough task for the Pirates. Anyone who thinks otherwise is in denial. We all know the pieces exist for this team to be special but they will have some growing pains, the will stumble at times. I prefer those stumbles in the first 4 or 5 weeks.
I always hope for a win and this game is important win or lose. It will answer a lot of questions everyone has about the 2014 Pirates.

If this game were to be played during the final weeks of the season, I would give the advantage to Belfry. As of now, I would say this game is a toss up. Quarterback play with be the difference maker in this game. If Belfry's QB can control the tempo of the game, as Warren did, and not turn the ball over, I feel like Belfry will prevail. If Belfry turns the ball over early, and allows Henry Clay to build an early lead, it could spell trouble for the Pirates. When it is all said and done, I like Belfry winning 28-27. Good luck to both teams.

HC has stepped their program up a notch to be near the top of 6A.
Belfry will be 2-3x better at playoff time than at the PCB.
So I will take HC by 13. Hope I'm wrong.

I agree with the above two posts. A lot of teams improve drastically from the start of the season to the end, but Belfry is traditionally one team who looks totally different in week ten than in week one. Belfry could beat HC, but it will be tough....Belfry in a close one, but HC could very well win. I think Belfry playing a fairly good game and showing some defensive stoutness would be a good start.

Henry Clay might be a 8-10 6A team. If Belfry beats them watch out.
That said, I don't feel overly confident right now. Sanger at LB will have growing pains. Couple DB's will have some growing pains. Henry Clay will break some big plays.
The key takeaway will be - does Belfry move the chains all night. You can see a scenario where Belfry moves the ball at will but lays it down a few times and gets beat comfortably in a game where they would have been in it if they didn't turn it over.
IMO, if Belfry's D can limit Henry Clay from big plays and force punts - everyone but Bourbon in the east can make plans for Thanksgiving.

Henry Clay works the middle of the field 60% of the pass plays the other 40% is swing passes to the backs. They love to drag the tight end in the middle when they aren't running pick plays to open the wide receivers. Defend the middle and send em home.
