Wasn’t a fun game to watch, Ashland is definitely a good solid team though. Just wish championship games was closer than blow outs. Congrats to Ashland.

If Ashland had a big kid, say maybe a Buchanan of Bath) type player, they would be highly dangerous to win the whole thing at Rupp. Size may end up being their nemesis, though. They open up the last game on Thursday, meaning they will have to play again Friday and if they advance twice Saturday. Four games crammed into three straight days of play. It would have been more advantageous for them to have opened on Wednesday and had that day off to rest on Thursday.
They rely on speed, 3 shooting, pressure defense to create turnovers, etc. biggest player is 6’3. Teams like that do pretty well through the first 2 games but the running and jumping wears on them as the tournament advancing onward. Bigger teams have an advantage. That’s kind of how Highlands got them last year in the semifinals. They were worn down and their shot just wasn’t there late in that game, which was very close up to the final 3 minutes. The final score was around a 10-12 point loss but that is deceiving, it was closer. Highland spread the floor and Ashland was forced to foul and the Bluebirds made all their free throws
