Belfry 62 Breathitt County 28
#91
Yeah that was no surprise what so ever.. lol

Powell County's anouncer yells" Thats another first down POWELL COUNTY!!!" Granted he did not get to say it much but when he did it was yelled out." I feel that an announcer should announce the game and not voice his homefield ties on the horn.
Romans 14:11
It is written: " 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.' "

Actually, Powell Co's announcer is a female. I'm confused?

We played them last year, not this year. Sorry thought it was still the same guy..

I am a Cheerleader!!! Now as for the announcing...I think that he does a great job!!!! He isn't Mr. Phillips. Let's face it, he has to learn..(Everyone has to have a critic-I guess) When you are in the public-eye, how easy it is for some people to sit back and criticize!!!! Get over it!!! He is young and he will learn - Let's hope before some of you run him off...lol As for the taunting, I must have been asleep too, Journeyman. I was there on the 50 yard line with my Papa John's Pizza Box in hand (decorated)making lots of noise and I heard nothing but concern from the stands. As for the dispute over yardage, he's the leader of that group of young men. How he conducts himself soon becomes a direct reflection on those youth. In coaching, he assumes a big responsibilty. Those boys look up to him!!!! Although I know that it must have been a heart-felt loss, they have absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of!!! They had a perfect season! You win with grace and lose with grace! That part of sportsmanship! Isn't there a sportsmanship creed? We all make mistakes as I am sure that he realizes by now! But from what I hear, he does this quite often. I may be wrong on that account though!!! ONLY FOUR MORE DAYS!!!!! LET"S GO BUCS!!!!

Please for the love of God and all man kind lets do not bring Powell County into this Forum. Before you know it, they will be saying they should have beat every one in 3A and would have if they had a defense to go along with that dismal offense. You are right about the announcing and especially the Powell Co. part, Lets not sink to that level.

Something must have been going on sweetheart. You have Belfry fans agreeing with what I saw. I am not knocking the kids or the coach, Belfry has an Excellent TEAM. Every place has fans who are embarrassing to their program.

Noone agreed with you about they taunting, the only thing anyone agreed about is that the P.A. Announcer is a bit of a cheerleader, noone agreed when you said he was taunting, or anyone in the stands was taunting... It didnt happen///
I don't think anyone was taunting...No one wants to see anyone hurt. I do believe everyone was in awe over the hit Thomas Varney put on #3.
I did hear some of our fans saying "get him off the field" in reference to Breathitt's coach. Too much was going on at that time for me to realize why he was out there.
I do think our announcer gets a little carried away, but think about it, he had to step up and try to fill some very big shoes. He will be fine if everyone will just give him a chance. I did get a little tickled Friday night when he said "Pirate fans on your feet"- My group had been up the entire game as had most everyone else!

I think that maybe what journeyman herd, but it wasnt in regards to the player, it was to the coach, who was making himself look stupid... Instead of acting a fool when down by 6td's he should of been more concerned with his injuried player...

That rant was before the injury. The injury was the next play.
:Cheerlead Amen!!! I simply stated that at the 50 yard line on both sides of me-there was no taunting. Yes, I do agree that there is always someone that might cause embarassment to a group, but as a rule - BELFRY FANS are a CLASS ACT!!!! Journeyman, don't you agree that he is a role model for those young men? I think that's just as important as the coaching of the specific skills-don't you?Wink

kyr450 Wrote:He is no worse than anyone else... He normally doesnt talk as much as he did last night, but hey, he ad a reason to be excited... Its part of his job to try to keep the fans going... Not once was he taunting anyone though...

Isn't that the definition of a cheerleader?????

And, no, it isn't part of his job.
sportsfan1 Wrote:That rant was before the injury. The injury was the next play.

that is correct..
the big hit where #3 was hit was the play right after the coach left the field..
The only thing Holcomb did was wake Belfry back up again, and put a fire in them..

I don't particularly like the announcing at the game.. But I think some of you are over-looking the fact that even Steve Phillips sometimes would do a little cheerleading.. I remember many times him saying "Lets go big red", or "come on pirate fans, get behind that big red D". So, you can't really say much about the new announcer. I'm just not a fan of his voice.
Nathan, the PA announcer, is not a ESPN broadcaster or work for a radio station. He works for the Belfry Pirates, so if he wants to get our fans up and say "Let's Go Big Red!" Let him, because he doesn't work for both teams, or neither team. If he's a neutral person, and is just calling the game, expect him to show no favoritisim, but he works for Belfry, and cheers us on. It'd be stupid for him to say "oh wow, touchdown belfry.." or just say who got tackled, etc. I like him getting us up, and being excited for our good plays, he works for us, and works at CAM Stadium, home of the Pirates, so he can be more upbeat and excited for Belfry all he wants, because I have no problem with it.

Exactly
I sit right under the press box. There was no taunting!! And I heard nothing but concern from the entire group I was sitting with. Class is one thing Belfry is never questioned on. Everybody..win or lose talks about Belfrys great class. Although there are "some" classless people (prob kids) at "every" school, its not something we have a "problem" with here and its not something we are accused of hardly ever.

You are rediculous if you think every home team PA announcer doesnt cheer on the home team, you must be attending some different games than I am...

Of course, We joke with the away fans, but just in good spirit.

However Friday, Breathitt fans were crowded together smoking inside the stadium, Mr. Gannon asked me to go speak to the cops at the far end zone, so when we did, we crossed over the Breathitt side to get to Tunnel Time, but that's all.

LOL I dont sopose they were too happy about your talk with the cops Smile

I would have to say that Rocky Stanley, The PA announcer at Russell does not cheer for either team. He keeps the fans up to date with what is going on but if you didn't know who he worked for you would never know that he was a Russell person.

And your point is????????? That's one person...and he said nothing about the taunting..We are concerned with your taunting allegations..
Journeyman Wrote:Post #104, please read.
Every away game I went to the home announcer was much more upbeat for his home team, especially for the first couple minutes of the game. I know when I was at Williamson, every announcer rooted for their team. It's part of football. When you're away, the entire stadium is against you. You learn how to deal with it, how to tune out the crowd at away games. Or you have a nervous breakdown because it seems like so many people want you maimed Tongue

Once again....you are a cheerleader.

That's "ridiculous", because I thought you had a pair.

I prefer to go to games where cheerleaders, former cheerleaders, and their mothers cheer.

Men stand up & clap when need be, or yell at referees. Call me a male-chauvinist if you want, but that's how it ought to be.

PA announcers simply announce the game.
Wow, this thread has got wayyy off topic, think its time to be closed.
