With the upcoming season seeing the districts being as followed, I think folks don't need to be sleeping on Lloyd Memorial or Russell High. Those two should be the two best teams out of Districts 5 & 6 with the RPI then determining which two between them and then the two teams from Districts 7 & 8 would host each other for the right to go on to the state semifinals.
LexCath may not even make it past the second round of the playoffs with having to play either CAL, Central or DeSales.
Class 3A
District 1- Hopkins County Central, Murray, Union County, Webster County
District 2- Adair County, Butler County, Edmonson County, Glasgow, Hart County, LaRue County
District 3- Central, Christian Academy-Louisville, DeSales, Western
District 4- Bardstown, Casey County, Garrard County, Lexington Catholic, Mercer County
District 5- Bourbon County, Carroll County, Henry County, Lloyd Memorial, Pendleton County
District 6- Bath County, East Carter, Fleming County, Lewis County, Russell
District 7- Bell County, Clay County, Knox Central, McCreary Central, Rockcastle County
District 8- Estill County, Lawrence County, Letcher County Central, Magoffin County, Powell County

Russell has improved from what I have seen the past couple of seasons.

With Belfry gone and Lex Cath now in the West. Things certainly open up for teams on the East side. It pretty much comes down to just a handful of teams from the east being able to make it to Kroger field. While it’s going to be a huge challenge to win against Cal it certainly looks a lot easier to at least make it to State. I would say Bell would be the favorite in the East but from there you have several teams that is capable of beating them on any given night and making it to the championship. Those teams who look to have a chance would be in no order Rock, Lawerence, Letcher Central, Russell and Lloyd Memorial. Those would be the top 5 teams that could upset Bell on a good night. Who knows some crazy game may happen and Cal may not make it to state happen to Boyle last year!

It will defintely help the teams in the East get to the semi-finals. It it doesn't guarantee one of them a trip to Kroger Field. Since the reseeding in the semi-finals goes by RPI, and not East or West, the 2 East teams could be matched up with the 2 West teams. So you could actually have CAL and Central in the finals.
