Quote:Three people are charged with animal cruelty in Pike County after officers say they discovered a dog fighting ring.http://www.wkyt.com/wymtnews/headlines/57397917.html
For the most part the dogs are doing well.
They do have some bite marks on them.
One of the animals even shows evidence of people sharping it's teeth for fighting.
Another will most likely have to be put down.
The investigation into the ring started after police were tipped off about a comment on the website MySpace.
The dogs are recovering...some with battle scars from being forced to fight.
"The people of Pike County I know that they love pets. I know they won't uphold this," said Rose Deskins with the Pike County Animal Shelter.
Animal shelter workers have hope some of these dogs can be rehabilitated.
"The general public does not want this going on in their communities. We have enough problems to deal with...without an added problem such as this," said Pike County attorney Howard Keith Hall.
Police say those responsible are facing some serious charges.
"Any time there is dogs or pitbulls injured in our county someone is going to be arrested as quick as possible...even before the investigation is complete because there are animals lives at stake," said Hall.
One dog might have to be put down because it's a danger to others.
Police are not releasing any names of those charged just yet.
They expect to find more people and dogs involved.
If you have any information about this dog fighting ring, you are encouraged to contact the sheriff's department.
Sad!

It's all wrong, unless the animal can strap on the gloves or spurs themselves and shout, "Let's go punk".

What I meant is that I can understand (NOT AGREE WITH) chicken fighting because they are a lot easier to control, if something goes wrong. A person can put gamecocks in the backyard and get them when needed. It is an entirely different story with a gang of pitbulls. Does that make sense? I am not condoning animal cruelty in any way, I am saying, "who is crazy enough to live with a pack of rabid pitbulls?"

I hope the people involved get the time in jail they deserve.

really what are wrong with people these days?

Any type of animal fighting-dog, chicken, whatever is wrong because they too are God's creatures! In addition, the sick ways they train and prep animals to fight is disgusting! But, anywhere else an NFL star goes to prison for dog fighting, but in Pike County those 2 guys went free for shooting and killing all of those horses for fun a couple of years ago. I have no faith that these sickos will be punished like they deserve to be, at least not while they walk the Earth!

If there was a smiley thing that would indicate "Tilting his head and nodding in shame" I would use it right here.

Look around you. People are raising game roosters right out in the open. Their not raising them to eat. This has gone on for generations. Nothing has ever been done to stop this. But, dog fighting is wrong and authorities want to put a stop to it. Where have they been all these years with rooster fights? Why make a difference?
