Pike Central's Season

under dawg Wrote:They've played two decent teams and lost both games by 2 td's. The other three teams they beat are not good.
I guess everyone at Belfry is happy losing to teams with winning a winning record?

Not quite sweetheart.... no loss is ever swallowed well..... BUT, how many other 3A teams have 4-5A teams listed on their schedule? Um, that I can think of .... NONE! How about Belfry and PC switch schedules for a year and see who comes out with the best record? Until you beat the best you can't have a "claim to fame".... Who knows.... PC may just do that and I'll be the first to send congrats if they do... BUT, that in itself does NOT mean that it would be easy to swallow.... Come on out and judge for yourself instead of getting on here and making snide comments about a team you haven't even watched this year.... OOPS.... did I just say that?? LOLOL:biggrin:

You're correct no other 3A team has 4-5A schools on their record. Even better I will one up ya, Louisville Central has 7-6A schools on their schedule...OOPS...did I just say that? LOL just messing with ya PHS had to play something off your post. You're correct though Pike Central needs to beef up the schedule as I have said in many other posts. However, Chapman couldn't do much with the contracts that had already been cut. Lets give them this year and then see what he does with next years schedule it should be better. Once again Belfry is Belfry and yet again we have yet to beat Belfry so the "claim to fame" as you call it must wait and see what happens a week from today. Good Luck tonight by the way dont beat up on the Panthers to bad.
#33
On second thought beat them bad just so we have more smack talking points when the Hawks beat the Pirates at CAM next week. j/k God I love you all during football season it gets so fiery and fun on here. We will be pulling for you all tonight.

This year pike central is built for a chance to beat belfry. They actually have a legitimate passing game buti still haven't heard much about their ground game. And as of now central hasn't played anyone the caliber of belfry. I hunk they have a very good chance to win this game but being over confident can lead to bad things. So I'm going to ask each of u central fans to please not give belfry an extra incentive to play harder. They are a good team. Always have been. And they have never lost to central. I'm as excited as anyone else about this game but I am smart enough to know that if central starts making mistakes or if they come in thinking this will be another walk in the park then they will lose. Haywood is a great coach and you have to understand that his gameplan will be set up to win this game. This should be a great game to see between two really good coaches. This is also the first year that pike central has an offensive line that should be able to slow the belfry defenders a bit. But don't think this game will be easy.

As for the transfers. Well, If the khsaa says they can play let them play. If I'm not mistaken there was a house next to vipperman that housed a new family every couple of years. And who cares if families move to give their kid a chance to play sports at a different school. Jealousy will get you nowhere and if it was your school they came to then you wouldn't be complaining. It happens every year and it's going to continue for years to come. As long as thy are making the grade and going to school it shouldn't matter if they are good at sports. Unless they are gettingpaid to play it's something we all should come to terms with

I agree with you if a family wants to move to give their kid a chance to play sports that's fine let them play. What I don't agree with is when the family doesn't move and the kids have to travel quiet a distance to get to school. A kid that doesn't live anywhere near Pike County or a neighboring county for that matter should not be allowed to play. All you Central Fans can say what you like, but everyone knows that there are a couple of kids on that team that do not LIVE anywhere NEAR Pike County.

But if a kid lives in another state..oh say its just 3 miles or so away from Pike County then thats more reasonable and not the same and is just fine. I think Belfry should be last to question residences, living quarters, and other schools similar situations.

You do realize Pike Central has had WV transfers (Merchant) as well as Belfry transfers (LP Thornsbury)?

Both teams have a history of transfers... this is a never ending arguement that will go nowhere. The next mention and this thread ends.

Not sure if i would call it a new era of dominance yet, but it is looking up for Pcc. I think it has to do with coaching and players both. I Mac and Birchfield both, but now there is an outsider who might not know mommy and daddy. And actually put the best players on the field in the best positions. But if Pcc goes in to CAM not prepared it will be a long nite

I agree with you, but I know of a kid that lives more than 70 miles from Pike County that plays football there. Just for the record I'm not from Belfry either.

I agree.

I went to PCC in 1994,played three years for JC and went to the playoffs twice. My son now plays for PCC.I know PCC hasn't played a hard schedule but that isn't the kids fought.I watched these boys grow up and play football together(they may have a few of different players but not as many as some)they have always IMO been awesome.PCC has an AWESOME team,a great coaching staff(we beat MASON C last year).
I wish everyone would quit talking about tansfers and see if COACH CHAPMAN 2 year as of head coach, and this awesome talent that aready was here could beat BELFRY.I THINK SO.

Not knocking your post at all but I would like to ask something...
Are you saying that Coach Chapman is on the same page as Coach Haywood in caliber? (games won, games played, years coached, winning streaks held, etc).... If I'm not badly mistaken, Coach Haywood is what... 3rd in the state in wins? Belfry teams now hold a 10 year streak against Pikeville and how many years have they played PC now? That would as well be considered a win streak.... Building the program is awesome.... BUT, if you want to look at it in a "numbers" kind of view.... PC has 3 feeder schools correct? Mullins (Pike Central Middle), Johns Creek (which houses around 900 or so children) and Kimper.... Belfry has BMS.... (excluding elementary schools which all eventually end up at the middle school)... Pike Central has plenty of students to choose from to particpate in sports. WHY (if I may ask) have they not been a dominating team before now? What was the problem at PC? Has the school superintendent got everything straightened out so that PC will have their coach for the long run?

Sorry, didn't mean to be so windy but your post just got me to thinking about a few things and thought I'd ask and see what type of replies I would get!!! Smile

So how many rings does Haywood have 1 ? I think Chapman has 3! You cant compare what they have done in there coaching career. Chapman has only been a head coach for 4 yrs.Right now the series is Chapman 2 win 1 loss to Haywood. Everyone on this chat room thinks becouse Belfry has beaten PCC that they cant be beat. Im sorry thats why you play the game. I agree that the game should favor Belfry becouse of its location. The Cam is one of the hardest places to play in the state with one of the best crowds, but you can mark this down Central is bringing a team that has alot of size and speed. I watched a couple of games on film and they will make some of the hardest hits in the mountains on defense. I think this game is going to be a war. There is no doubt that both teams and fan bases are ready to go. This game is going to come down to hitting! Who can out hit who and which team buckles. I think Central has the talent to beat Belfry and alot of other teams in the area. I also think the same about Belfry. I cant wait to listen to this game on the 8th it gives me goosebumps thinking about it. I only wish I was there for it.
As for the "R" I think everyone is tired of hearing about this. Maybe PCC and Belfry both have some but who cares the mighty minds at KHSAA has ruled them eligible to play. About the remark of one of the kids that doesnt even live in the Pike County area for PCC. You might want to think about what you say a little more becouse I know where a couple of them live. As a matter of fact most of them were affected by the flood and lost alot of there things so get your facts straight.

Coach Haywood has 3 rings, the third is commonly unknown. He won as an offensive coordinator at another school in the 70's, and the record is more like 2-1 Coach Haywood, with Haywood winning 62-28 in '07, Breathitt 14-12 in '08, and Belfry over PCC 24-14 in '09.

I think it's going to be a great game, and Chapman sticks around at PCC (I've heard he may leave?) because I'm excited to see a good rivalry in county, Pike County Civil War! TongueirateSho

Ok I guess you didnt understand the first post. As head coaches Chapman beat Haywood in 98,99 at Pikeville. Haywood has beaten Chapman once while at PCC.
Everything being said on these messages boards are crazy. This is going to be one of the best games to watch this season becouse Pike Central has grown into a football program (not power) but a winning program. It is really exciting watching the school as a whole get behind there program. As long as Chapman stay at PCC this will be a very heated game year in and year out. I dont see Chapman taking any other job becouse of the location and the support.
Its going to be interesting to see how PCC responds on that first drive if Belfry keeps it and goes 80 yards. On the other hand what if PCC strikes quick. Cant wait to listen to this on the radio its going to be a hard hitting 48 minutes of war.

Regardless of the "Coaching Caliber" (which you seem to think is not a factor) there will be enough talent on the field come Friday night to accomplish a "job well done" from their fans! Winning the game is something both teams have set their minds to do..... A war... it will be if they adults make it that way... A fight.... It will be if the adults allow it... These young men need to go out, play the game to the fullest extent of their abilities, and do their best. Hopefully, there will be no injuries, no ejections, and an outstanding football game to watch come Friday night!

I thought you said that Chapman has only been a head coach for 4 years? So he was the head coach at Pikeville in 98 and 99, and now head coach at Central in 09 and 10?

There is no way Chapman can be compared to Haywood. He's a great coach, but it's to soon to make those comparisons.

Chapman has a long haul to be in the same league as Haywood, but he has a darn good start not to mention he is half his age and has half as many assistants in his coaching career as Haywood has this season alone.

You would be suprised to know Coach Haywoods age.... Many think he is older than he is, but I'm not going to be the one to post it on BGR!!! LOLOL...
As for the assistants.... Amazing at the volunteers you have that are dedicated to an outstanding program year in and year out isn't it!!!

It is impressive. We could use that type of dedication. Maybe a win over the pirates will boost morale and start a good thing at PC

I think a great thing is already started. If Chapman stays up there for good, this could turn into a great county rivalry. It would fill up the stands every year, I'd make the trip whenever I could. Hopefully I get home in time for the game Friday night...I can't wait. I just hope I can find a seat, lol.

Man, saying crap like that just makes you look stupid and makes these other fans hate Central even more, not that you care. How can you possibly say that Coach Chapman is the best coach in the county? Better than Coach Haywood? Really? What has Chapman done as a head coach than can possibly be compared to the domination of Pike County that Coach Haywood and Belfry has had for years?

They don't stand a chance with that 70's offense that they run? Well, don't they run the same offense as they did last year? Can you remember what the score of the Belfry game was at Buckley's Creek? Do you recall who put Central out of the playoffs?

That 70s offense blistered the Louisville turf for 526 yards in 2004 for a state championship!!! As a matter of fact, Belfry defeated Etown and O Cath in those two years for state titles running that 70s offense. What type of offense did those two teams run against Belfry? Basically Pike Central's offense!!!

Man, no matter how many facts we show these people, it still won't matter. They're more than likely high school kids that have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. You can tell that by this kid saying Chapman is a better coach than Haywood. :lmao:

I want Central to win, I would love to see it. But, I also want to make fun of alot of these immature Central fans that think they'll dominate Belfry and win state.
