Belfry 42 Russell 14
#1
Pirates put on an impressive show.
#2
Very impressive indeed.
#3
390+ rushing yards and over 400+ total yards for the Pirates.

Pirates consistently broke open large gains from multiple backs, and consistently forced Russell into 3rd and Distance situations.

The scary thing is Belfry had 3 turnovers and still haven't put together that elusive "perfect game" where they execute and hold onto the ball.

congrats belfry

Great Win for Pirates, and remember....this is a very young team

Anyone have stats?
#6
Love it, Congrats Pirates.

Congrats Pirates!!! Way to stand tall and pave the way for our county, school, and team to be recognized!!! Too bad there weren't any Pike Co. BOE members in attendance other than Dr. C. Johnson to hand out the regional trophies to Russell and the Pirates..... Wonder where they all were tonight?

Who knows? However I do feel that with Belfry playing for a regional championship, the board members should have been present for support for the school, team and community. They sure showed up when Belfry played PCC (regular season game)..... got the pictures to prove that one!

I'd bet money if Shelby Valley was playing they would be there... just saying..The board after the Frank Welch era could care less about anything from Johnscreek side of the mountain to Belfry.

Was it me or did the officials give bad ball spots all night......for both teams?. Very disappointed in the officiating..I honestly thought Russell would of had a better showing, could not get it going on either side of the ball.

I picked this one right.CONGRATS BELFRY for an awesome win.GOOD LUCK against SOMERSET.

Very impressed with Belfry tonight. It's not your typical power running Belfry team but they had the Russell defense on their heals and guessing most of the night. I had not seen Belfry run the double wing and jet sweep before and it didn't look like Russell was prepared for it either. #2 had a big game and #3 is very slippery from the fullback spot.

Defensively the belfry D line and linebackers were very quick to the ball. Very agressive. I think they have a very good shot against Somerset next week.

The TD pass as time expired at the end of the first half was a killer. Russell battled back a bit to cut it to 28-14 but just ran out of gas. Proud of Russell's team they never quit but got in too big of a hole. Both teams are young and return alot next year. Looking forward to a possible rematch same time next year.

Congratulations to the Pirates and good luck next week. Despite the turnovers belfry executed their offense almost to perfection. I wouldn't worry too much about the penalties either as most seem to come from aggressiveness.

Thanks for the compliments. This has been a year of adjustments and Belfry has had to change its offense up a little bit to suit their backfield. I think it shows what a great coaching staff the Pirates have in place.
BTW glad we got to see Russell, always a joy to watch and nothing but class.

Congrats to the Pirates!

Good run Russell. Congrats Pirates. Good luck hope you bring home state.

I thought Belfry would win but did not think it would be by a 28 point spread. Congratulations Pirates; great game, with some excellent coaching. Haywood can adjust to the situation and is a super Coach.

I am a Sheldon Clark fan and hope that Belfry can carry it to the next round, which I think they can. Belfry represents Eastern Kentucky football very well.

Again, congratulations on a terrific win!

Once again Belfry improved leaps and bounds from the beginning of the season. Who would have predicted a region title after seeing the Pirates loss against Pburg the first game of the season? Haywood and his staff have done another amazing job this year. Good luck next week Pirates.

I for one, do not like to see board members handing out any trophy. They need to be spending more time making informed policy and financial decisions for our students instead of handing out trophies (and trying to get more votes).

Congrats Belfry Pirates. You have one heck of a program:1:
