I am honestly surprised she made it this long.

"27 club" member. They were just wondering the other day on the news, if she would join the 27 club.
#3
When Keith Richards told her to slow down I knew she was going down the wrong road too fast.

VHlS - your post about the passing of celebs is a lil' stout.. Don't you think? I sure hope when I pass I'm not remembered as - Ballers has played one too many ball games.

Since we're just stating the facts, your posts in this thread are pathetic and very jackass-like.

Is anyone really surprised by this?

Only surprised that it didn't happen sooner. Still no reason to be a DICK Vitale about it though.

One less dope head to deal with.

Well, what Im about to say will definitely be construed as a dickhead move, but what chaps me is that this dead addict has been all over the television, all over the papers, and will be for the next ten weeks. And you wont hear one word about the soldiers that will die between now and then.

You get what you deserve. You live a certain type of life style that will drive you to an early grave that wasa her choice. I have no pity for those types of people when the innocents die every day. You deserve what you get by the choices you make.

Let's try this again...
considering these "celebs" died based on their own reckless behavior, based on drug and alcohol use and abuse, no... I've actually been quite civil about itl

I thought you ultra-liberals prided yourselves on being compassionate?
So glad to be on the opposite side of you as usual RV.
Just like around our area here, a young person overdoses on drugs and dies, it makes me sad and you happy. Not surprised at all.

Whether a person uses drugs, is green, or has 3 legs it is is still a human life. It is always a sad day when someone passes. If the passing is from fault of their own there is still no need to harass them. You can say one less dope head or one less jackass but imagine how the friends and family members feel? Put yourself in their shoes for a minute before you pass judgement.

She was nothing more than a junkie so how can anyone be shocked this was the way things ended.

I agree with you 100%, and you have spelled the Christian manta out here nicely. Alcohol and drug addiction is certainly more than a choice as those who have spelled it out so nicely by simplifying it as. To become a junkie is a choice just like drinking and driving, cheating on your wife, or stealing from your local convenience store. Those choices become habits for many. I thank god that no one in my direct family has been afflicted with this disease. But I have seen it first had as it destroyed so many of my friends families. I dare say that we have members on this site that have a drug of alcohol problem. To simplify it so easily and say she got what she deserved is no one on here's right to say. Can they say it? Absolutely! But is it justified, not so! Though I won't lose any sleep over the death of Amy Winehouse, I do feel for her mother or father who likely have suffered greatly watching the death of her daughter be spelled out for so long in front of them. Yes, she did this to herself. But there comes a point in addiction that many people lose control. That's what happened here! I'll let God sort it out.

Take away the name and celebrity status and you have 27 year old lady that died of a drug overdose. When are we going to start caring that people destroy themselves? I always have and always will.

When I get a random call to preach a funeral of a junkie, what am I supposed to say? That they got what they deserved, they reaped what they sowed, they are society's trash? NO! I preach about how much God loves everyone and how he offers his grace, love, mercy, and forgiveness to everyone. I pray for her family as they have lost a loved one that destroyed her life day after day, and now they have no more hope for a recovery. Remember, when an addict dies of overdose, not only does the family have a death to try to understand and cope with, they lose the hope of a recovery.

Remember this the next time a druggie dies or if you know someone struggling with this, please be the hands and feet of Jesus and help them see hope and help in you.

That is a great post, but Ive got news for ya though, you can't help somebody who doesn't want help no matter how hard ya try. They have to want to help theirself, thats all there is to it. I have an older sister who was hooked on drugs for a few years until a little over 15 months ago. She wanted help and help was provided to her. Almost been 16 months sober now. I have a cousin who died back in the winter from a drug overdose. My aunt and uncle tried talkin to him, tried to help him, his brother tried to help him, my sister even tried to help him. She talked to him 2 weeks before his death about gettin him into the same rehab she went to.

Hey bro, hope your sister stays clean, and everything ends up good for her. I know how much you love your family, and I hate seeing a fellow brother torn to hell because of the worry, heartache and pain...and this goes to everybody that has dealt with this stuff..Prayers, hugs, and hope to all..

I am very happy for you and your sister. Drug or alcohol addiction is serious. But it's not just as simple as saying you have to want to help yourself. Though I can't speak from experience, I do realize that addiction makes one reliant on and idea and a feeling that are not real. It alters one's perception of how things should be, thus that individual can't just freely say I need help until it's usually too late for them. In this case, it was too late for Amy Winehouse. And in many ways, it was not as much Winehouses addiction than the pariahs who lived off of her and pushed the problem onto her versus trying to help her.
