SC scores first. But Frankforts Defense made big plays all night long. They had 3 picks 1 for a TD and recovered 2 fumbles 1 returned for a TD.
The heat really got to both teams.
SC scores a late one against the JV to close the gap.
Frankforts office is starting to jell.

Looks like turnovers killed Sheldon Clark again.

Sheldon Clark is beating themselves if you ask me. Not saying they could have won this game or the P-burg game without turnovers. But it's hard to win with turnovers like that.

Heard a lot of bad things about this game

Saw a few highlights on sports overtime and the QB from SC got absouletely killed on a play. Hopefully he is alright... Congrads Frankfort on a good win.

SC's struggles continue, hope they can pull it together.

Wow, I am rather surprised about the outcome of this. What has happened to SC

Frankfort INT the last pass of the game and for some reason the ref blew the play dead. The FHS defender was about to take it to the house.

And the disappointing start to Sheldon Clark's season continues...
Congrats Frankfort.

Well, well, I've also heard some bad things about this game, but so be it. You can't saw sawdust, it's over.
It appears that turnovers killed Sheldon Clark again, and I'm not saying they would have won with no turnovers, but obviously it would have been a closer game.
Don't give up, Sheldon Clark, for if you remember Paducah Tilghman's 2009 team as an example, it can be turned around.
Keep your heads up, work hard to improve, and never, never give up!
Good luck going forward to Coach Hager and the Cards.
See you at Pikeville Friday night

I'm disappointed as a Sheldon Clark fan, but let us think how Coach Hager and the Sheldon Clark team feels. As Ronnie Hickman wrote this past week in his column, and I'm probably going to paraphrase a little: it's a football game, not a matter of life and death. Well said, my friend.

Congratulations to Frankfort. Looks like it is time for SC to rediscover themselves.

I like Ronnie but I have to disagree with most of what he said in last weeks sideline comments. I don't want to teach our kids not to try in life, not to have passion for something, and not to get upset about things. Sometimes you have to get upset about something. It might not be life or death but this is where character is built. That is what Hager's teams are missing right now......Heart.
Ronnie also said the common saying from Hager. This is a non district games. What really matters is the district. I hate this thought pattern. You can not magically flip a switch and know how to win come district time.

Sounds like very good advice! Sheldon Clark shouldn't get down on themselves; they must keep working and trying to improve. This situation is not the end of the world.

SC has a great 1-2 punch in the backfield. Not sure why #7 isn't getting the ball a little more, he has a set of wheels. #10 is another good Running back. This team has some talent and was impressed with those 2 RB's last night.
09-03-2011, 11:42 AM
Not easy putting a finger on why things aren't clicking for the Cards. There's a lot of individual talent, but for some reason they don't seem to play together well.
The potential is there to see a very good team.

However, if you can learn from the non-district games and get better then not all is lost. I think the game lastnight SC found HEART! maybe late, but the team finally started to fight . Contrary to what the Franfort fans will say, the officiating was terrible. The officials didn't cause the 2 costly turnovers , and the outcome may not have changed but on the other hand it may. SC started getting the momentum the flags started, one examplehappened in the start of the 4th quarter SC moved the ball to the 25 of Frankfort and on 3rd and 5' SC running back Skyles takes the ball to the 4. but the flag was thrown all the way back at the 30 yard line for HOLDING on the wide receiver, 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage, to now make it 3rd and 15 from the 40! The Franfort D would illegally hit our linemen ( below the waist as a chop block on offense) and the lead blocker all night long and got flagged only once, and that call only came because of Hager running the same play 4 times in a row to show the side judge what Franfort was doing, but the side judge didn't make the call the white hat did and Hager went off on the side judge. The down marker holder on the chain gang then went after Hager and drew back on Hager and coaches got in between them to stop it from comming to blows. The down marker holder is an off duty state police officer , which he showed he is a very unprofesional state employee! He calls his fellow officers and needless to say, our Head Coach Hager was taken out of the locker room in front of the kids and his own children to be questioned . This is what Franfort has to offer the visiting teams, what a place. At least SC fans and parents had a police escort to their vehicles, and where the stadium is located most were happy to have the police present. The Franfort players played hard and deserve credit. If, the coaching staff teaches the illegal moves and techniques then they should banned. The next team that Frankfort plays will see the game film and see what Franfort was doing and maybe do it to Frankfort, and then maybe after loosing 3 lineman with knee injuries for these illegal tactics as SC did, maybe Franfort will stop!
Ronnie also said the common saying from Hager. This is a non district games. What really matters is the district. I hate this thought pattern. You can not magically flip a switch and know how to win come district time.

Okay so your upset because an outside LB'er took out a lead block. The OLB is a buck-o-five. Your guys couldn't block him all night. Yes when he was flagged it was the correct call. He did cut him blew the knees. He isn't taught to cut the lead blocker, BUT he is taught to take out the lead blocker.
As for the officials The only reason you are upset because your team committed costly penalties. Watch some game film and you will see both teams got away with penalties.
As for the police I can't comment on what happend other than 2nd hand knowledge.
Bottom line Frankfort out played SC. Everyone can look and make excuse as to why the lost. But at the end of the day they are just excuses.
Good Luck to SC, they have some quality talent. Coach Hager is doing a good job.

I don't think paulcssi meant by his statement that he agreed with the entire column; I am pretty sure he meant only the portion that he paraphrased, because that is all that he mentioned from the column.
I would agree, Matman, that a player has to have heart, should be upset when they are not playing up to their potential, and have a very strong desire to win. I also agree that every game should be played with the objective of winning, whether they are district or otherwise.

The game itself was exciting and very winnable by either team, just wanted to clarify to those that didn't attend that the score didn't really tell how close this game was. The cutting blocks did upset me because the kids can get hurt and did get hurt. The police incident did happen. Franfort played to win and never gave up and fought through the heat and deserved to win. I hope they have a great season and their players were very athletic and had a good scheme, GOOD LUCK.

Hope that this game will put a bit of anger in the cards and build a fire in thief belly to win. Seems like the line needs to be a little tougher up front and make a few good licks during the game. I remember about six or we en years ago when u went to a cards game everytime the ball would snap u would hear helmet on helmet contact and shoulderpads cracking. Sheldon Clark would beat teams not based on immense talent they would beat them because by time the third quarter came around the loosing team was beat to death the cards have always had a tough team not afraid to hit. Seems like the last few years we have some of the best talent I've watched at sc but as a team they have lacked the toughness of the past. What happened to the teams like the one that was trailing belfry at halftime at home and then came out the second half and held belfry scoreless? We didn't beat them on talent we had eleven guys on the field that wanted to win a football game. The fourth quarter of that game belfry was beaten and wanted to go home.
I know that this is a long post and thief is amlot of ramblings but it is my perspective. I have also heard tha hager doesn't allow amlot of hitting in practice be aide of fear of injury to his players . U have to practice like u want to play. Don't know but that is just what I heard. If this is the case then it is without a doubt the problem.

Some very good points. On a positive note, I think they played better than they had played in the two previous games. But, again, the line has got to get much more aggressive, get mean, and hit hard.
Based upon reading a post from a Frankfort supporter, it appears that Skyles and Smith played well enough to garner praise from the opposition, which speaks well for their performance.
So, let us hope that the line improves significantly. It can be done!
09-04-2011, 10:58 AM
Based on seeing last years SC team and this years team I would say the big difference is the o-line and d-line play. Not as hard nosed and aggressive. I can remember our kids from last year talking about how physical SC was.

i am a sc fan all the way and if any players read this just sit back and take a breath and realize that u all have the potential to do something special but while having fun. if u aint having fun then u aint going to play good. keep ur heads up and go out and bring back that cardinal pride and make this a year to remeber and to coach hager u r a great coach and dont let these three losses get to u. u knew all along that u was scheduleling a hard schedule to get the team prepared for the playoffs and i have faith in you to bring this team back to a winning season. :1:
