BC in a close one.

I do agree that Breathitt is a great football team, as they were last year, but I can't see them hanging 42 on Somerset (and I've seen every game both have played this season). Trent and Collins are very talented, along with 8, and 83. This Breathitt team may be better than any they've had in the past decade, but the Jumper defense is good as well. Strong possibility 26 for Somerset is back in the lineup this week as well... This game is gonna be a fun one!
I don't feel it would be considered an overshoot for Breathitt to score 42 points. Both of these teams have a history of scoring a lot of points when competing against each other. Breathitt has been on the losing end the past couple of years due Somerset's offense being more balanced. With that being said, this year I believe Breathitt's offense is more balanced and that will be the difference in the outcome of this year's game. Good luck to both teams. Go Bobcats.

With the addition of #22 Will Lange back in the line-up, and assuming #8 Storm Wilson is ready to go. The Jumpers are going to be able to spread the defense out and win this one easier than some may think.

With Storm Wilson's status up in the air, I'll have to go with Breathitt Co. for now. Although, word is that this is Somerset's best team in the last few years and Breathitt playing a weak schedule out of the gate...it should be a good game either way. Breathitt 20 Somerset 13

Will did look very good in Hazard at corner and ran the ball really well considering it was his first game back. I haven't heard anything definite on Storm but last I heard it looks like he will be ready to go on Friday. If we can cut down on the penalties and mistakes that plagued us last week against Hazard and last year in Breathitt then the Jumpers should be able to pull this one out. It's been a battle between these two the last couple of years and I don't see that changing now.

I'll second that. Breathitt is a much better team than the team that played Somerset in the playoffs last year.

It could come down to which crew is refereeing this game. I hope not.

We don't need to blame the refs before the game even starts. I guess u gotta blame someone when you get beat.

Mandan is not a Somerset fan. I don't think you've heard any Somerset fans making excuses for what may or may not happen Friday night. I don't know if we can win at Breathitt again this season or not but our bunch will show up and play their butts off like they always do.
As for blaming the refs, go back to the thread after the playoff game between the 2 teams last season and see who the Bobcat fans blamed for that loss.

My thoughts exactly. And the game before that one in 2009.

I've been around long enough and saw plenty of games in the mts that have been influenced by questionable calls. Many of the posters on here make predictions based on WHERE the game is played. Do you really think the home crowd has that much inluence on the outcome....especially if the visitors bring a large number of fans with them? I'm a fan of HS football, period. I just want the outcome decided by the players on the field.

If the Jumpers play like they did last week at Hazard, then it could be a real eye opener for them. The Jumpers "HAVE" to come to play from the very first second. Last years game could have gone either way and with payback on the mind from BCHS, it should be a great game. GO JUMPERS

I don't think anyone blamed the refs during the "09" season. Somerset was a better team in "09". As far as last year I think turnover's were the problem for both teams. I observed both teams to be very close in talent. This year after watching both teams play I feel like Breathitt has the better athletes/team but Somerset has the best athlete/player in "Storm". I feel like this game will be a lot like the "09" game when Breathitt had the best athlete/player in "Fugate" but Somerset had the better athletes/team. Breathitt by 2+ touchdowns.

I believe that Somerset will win in a very, very close one.

It wasn't as bad as last year and it definitely wasn't the majority of Bobcat fans, but some were definitely blaming the '09 loss on the refs. I don't name drop though... Flashman.
I've seen a little bit of Breathitt and what I seem to take from them is that if Somerset is going to win this game it's going to happen in the trenches. Line play is going to be key for Somerset because from what I've seen the Jumpers look to have the upper hand in that department. Also, secondary play has to improve this week if the Jumpers want to win.

The Jumper D-Line just got some great news from the KHSAA! Gonna be a REALLY fun night on Friday!

If I did not have to work on Friday, I would be going to Jackson to watch this one live! I know that Storm Wilson got banged up in the game against Hazard but, I am sure that he will be back and ready to go come Friday! Somerset will be the toughest team, by far, that Breathitt Co will play during the regular season! If Breathitt could win, that would definitely make a big statement but, I don't see them winning. Somerset, IMO, is better than the playoff team that came to Jackson in the playoffs last year and they now have Will Lange back so that will help improve this already impressive Briar Jumper team!
With all that said, I think this should be a good game and unlike last week, I think that this will be a high scoring game for both teams.
Somerset - 38
Breathitt Co. - 24

It was good news but it won't take effect until the Glasgow game.

Possibly not. without getting into a whole lot of detail; he is eligible and has the 10 day, but according to the ruling he was ALREADY (as of day one of school) eligible, therefore the staff is looking into possibilities for Friday. Should know more tomorrow. Regardless of when he takes the field its good news for next week and future games.

Essentially he was never ineligible. Tucker was being over cautious. Don't shoot the messenger but this is what I know to be factual.

How long has he been away from the team? If he does come back, this being his first game, against a fast, hard hitting Breathitt squad will be tough. He will be better in 2-3 games IMO.

You have been misinformed. To be eligible you have to be eligible on the first day of school. That was not the case. There is room, however, to appeal to the KHSAA to be eligible if you make up the class work and become a senior sometime during the year. This is not often invoked because usually if a player is not eligible on the first day of school then they do not make up the work. In this case the player did and after being deemed ineligible by the KHSAA the case was appealed and he was deemed eligible on a hardship exemption. I'm not sure if the KHSAA would let him play this week, I've been told it will be next week. However, as the parent of a senior captain, I can assure you that he will not be in uniform against Breathitt County and will come off of the bench the remainder or the year.

I'm not going to argue with u, we're in the same corner, however I just found out that he is indeed good to go tomorrow. You'll see tomorrow night I suppose, or just text #55 this afternoon
