A couple of interesting offensive stats:
Plays from scrimage
PCC 148 Rush (13TD) / 133 Pass (14TD)
Rock 220 Rush (25TD) / 54 Pass (2TD)
As to the weather, I'm not so sure that a wet field provides an advantage to Rock in this game. While it may be hard for PCC's O-line to dig in on pass blocking, it will be really hard for Rock's D-line to get after Huff an a wet soft surface. It will also be hard for Rowe and company to make hard cuts when running the ball.
As for the PCC passing game, unless it's coming down pretty hard during the game I think a wet field may be an advantage. Throwing and catching aren't really any harder than when it's dry, but coverage on a good receiver can become a nightmare in these conditions. The receiver knows where he's going, while the cover guy has to react, causing for a lot of slips, etc. A zone defense is almost a must against the PCC receivers on a wet surface.
So, I think a wet, muddy field plays to PCC's advantage. Heavy rain during the game plays to Rocks. Both teams will have to work really hard to keep Turnovers down.
Either way, I pick Rock in this game....it's just a matter of how much. I think the Rock D is going to show that they can stop the PCC running game, and can contain (not stop) the PCC pass game. I don't think PCC has an answer for the multiple threats of the Rock running game. Robinson will do his part and will have a phenomenal game in a loosing effort.
Rock wins by at least 8 points and maintains the perfect record through week 6. (Then it ends! :rockon

LWC Wrote:As many can tell, I have not made a serious prediction yet, and I have been dodging this question all week. I mentioned in another post and on Facebook that I have a weird feeling about this game. This is a non-district game that neither team really cares about in the long run. Outside of BGR, this will not become a rivalry. Next week the real season starts.
With ALL the factors counted in, I DID pick Perry in the pickem contest, and I made the avatar bet with MVP2 earlier in the year, taking Rock, either way I lose something.
Even with Clark predicted to play, as RockSolid69 reported, I do not see him getting a lot of carries. He has had less than 20 carries in every game this season anyway. I am sure they want him to remain healthy for the district opener next week. Many times someone is cleared to play and is not really 100%, especially in high school where the rules are not really in place to enforce things like that.
If Clark gets limited carries, Luna, Reams and McDaniel have proved that they are worthy backs and can get the necessary yards between them. Now that it has rained and soaked the field pretty good, Mountain football is gonna be played. Receivers are going to have a tough time with jerk routes and getting great speed routes down the field, so the playbook will close a little for Perry as well.
This game will REALLY profile B.B. Bradley and Matt Robinson. The linebackers are going to steal the show. Robinson may have 20 tackles and a couple of sacks in this game. He is gonna show why he is a force to be reckoned with, and that is certainly a PerryCC advantage.
One Rockcastle County advantage is going to be on the offensive line. In the mud and muck it is much harder to dig in for pass protection than it is for pushing forward for the run. For fear of producing locker room material, lol, I think Rock's O-line is better, and they will show it tonight.
With all of that said, with the wet field forcing a close game, I will predict a 1 point Rockcastle victory. My head tells me Perry wins by 8, my heart tells me Rock by 1.
If I was told that Rock had to lose by 100 to PerryCC to win by 1 against Russell County, I would take it. It is fun to jab and cut up with Perry fans on here, but even they would say in their heart of hearts that OTHER than historical revenge, this game doesn't mean that much to them either. May the best team win, may the players be safe, and may the crowds be controlled.
As a football alum who went 0-4 against Rock, i'm really hoping for some revenge. It's been 5 years since the Rock last came to APG and put a huge beatdown on us. I hope things are different tonight! I hope it is a good, injury-free game for both.

Cause they are probably going to be serving beans with those franks at the tailgating party before the game. The vibrations from the aluminum bleachers might bounce you off the visitors end.:eyeroll::biggrin:

As a fan of the visiting team I prefer to sit in the home teams section, even when they have a visitor bleacher section on the far side of the field. Nothing like being rowdy :Cheerlead when your winning on the road. However, if the game isn't going the way you like, half time is the perfect time to get a snack, a drink, visit the facilities, and re-seat yourself on the far side of the field.

Rock by at least 8? Lol, alright.
And Perry contained Jude(around half his average), he's better than Rockcastle's backs, so I'm really not worried about their running game. Rock will run the ball well at times, but it's not going to be unstoppable or anything.

I like it better than La Pena. My in-laws seem to love the Roadhouse upon the hill. I cannot remember the name of it. Is it a Logans or Texas Roadhouse, or what is the name of it.
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT EAT AT THE TACO BELL! That place was really really bad. They have a Wendy's that is pretty good though. Taco Bell is the only place to run away from there. Everything else seems fine.
