Jonathan Jackson, Linebacker/Mayfield
#1
One of two Mayfield defenders on the first team, Jackson has been considered one of the top college prospects in the Class of 2013 for several years.

A three-year standout, the 6-foot, 205-pound Jackson helped Mayfield to the 2010 Class A state title and runner-up finishes in ’09 and ’11.

“Jonathan plays every snap like it’s his last,” coach Joe Morris said. “He comes to practice every day and works hard because he wants to be the best football player that he can be. He’s a dream for every coach.”

Jackson has started on both sides of the ball the past two seasons. This season he amassed 156 tackles and five interceptions (two for touchdowns). His 1,672 yards rushing this season (with 21 TDs) broke a school record. As a sophomore, he had more than 150 tackles and ran for 1,110 yards and 14 TDs.

Jackson has scholarship offers from Western Kentucky and Murray State and is getting serious interest from Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, Mississippi and Tennessee among several others.
