I eat The Shed every time I go to my GF's family's house as it is along the way.
Taking my dad to the SEC Tourney in NOLA and he is excited to eat there. Their sauce is amazing and everything is unbelievably tender.
The restaurant is a trip as you pull up and it looks like a run down iump.

One other restaurant I forgot to mention was Paula Dean's Lady & Sons in Savannah, GA. I ate there for my birthday this year and it was amazing. It is a buffet and everything on it was mouth watering.

You can search the world over and can pay hundreds of dollars for a meal, but IMO you just cant beat a pizza from Giovanni's here in Paintsville.
But then, I live a very simple life.

My wife and I drive right by the one in Paintsville, to get to the one in Prestonsburg. No comparison, in my book. I generally try to patronize local restaurants, but this is one instance that I don't waste my time on. I don't know what Giovanni's in Prestonsburg does different, but their pizzas are head and shoulders above the one in Paintsville.

Since leaving Kentucky, I have probably eaten out at several hundred different restaurants. Thanks to this thread, I am planning a road trip tomorrow to Maryland's eastern shore to try my first authentic Maryland crab cakes.
Here are a few of my favorites - as you can see I like southern food, especially pulled pork, and Asian food:
Thai:
Natta's (Vienna, VA)
Siam House (Bloomington, IN)
Vietnamese:
Four Sisters (Falls Church, VA)
Kabob Houses:
Raouche Cafe (Lebanese) (Merrifield, VA)
Mediterranian/Greek:
Keifer's (Jackson, MS)
Wrap's (Jackson, MS)
Barbecue:
Hickory Pit (Jackson, MS)
Interstate Barbecue (Memphis, TN)
Bubba's Barbecue (east Carolina style) (Charlotte, NC)
Seafood:
Sal and Phil's (Ridgeland, MS)
Fast Soul Food, Tamales, Chicken and Dumplings, Meatloaf, etc. with drive-thru:
Tony's Tamales (Jackson, MS)
Pizza:
Bazbeaux*Pizza (Indianapolis, IN)
Mexican:
El Tio (Falls Church, VA)
Chinese:
Sampan House (Franconia, VA)
Italian:
Vapiano (Arlington, VA)
Cajun:
Yat's (Indianapolis and Greenwood, IN)
Traditional American Southern:
Mamma Hammil's (huge selection – buffet style) (Madison, MS)
Julep's (Jackson, MS)
Cafe:
Newk's (Ridgeland and Jackson, MS)
Sandwiches:
Jimmy John's (national chain)

NothingTrivial Wrote:Hoot, if you are anywhere close...Check out Suicide Bridge and get some of their Lobster Bisque. Its about 20 minutes outside of Cambridge.Your post about the Suicide Bridge restaurant is the one that got me longing for some good seafood. It's a little further than I wanted to drive tomorrow but I may try it on another trip. I am thinking about trying Kentmorr Restaurant & Crab House on Kent Island. It's only a 90-minute drive from here and is on the coast of Chesapeake Bay. Denton is another 30 minutes driving for me, so I will probably try to stop there on a trip to the Atlantic coast in warmer weather.
The ethnic foods are great in this area but I miss the great (and cheap) seafood restaurants in Mississippi. When I lived in Jackson, I ate seafood two or three times week but the seafood here is either overpriced or just not as good. Thanks for the Suicide Bridge recommendation. I love lobster bisque.

Thats what I noticed with a lot of it when I was there, it was either over priced or lacking. Ive craved their lobster bisque since I left. Nothing beats a big bucket of crab on the boardwalk @ OC for me.

Suicide Bridge is a little tricky to find a first, its down in the middle of nowhere. They have dinner cruises I think 2 nights per week as well.

The traffic out of DC toward the beaches and the returning traffic on Sunday evenings during the summer amazes me.

I tried not to leave the house on Sundays. We 4 or 5 times when I was there, we had the pleasure of being able to go during the week, so Id say we had it a lot better than it was on the weekends.

Hoot,
Is Newk's good? One opened up about 5 minutes from me but I havent had a chance to give it a try. Any suggestions on what to order?

I'll have to take your word on that. I have eaten at the Pburg location a few times but I have never gotten a pizza there. I have always gotten a stromboli there. It was good but I like the Paintsville version better. I'll give the Pburg pizza a try one of these days though. Just because you say so.

With all this food and seafood talk, I must tell you all that you are all in complicity to commit the death of the lobster I just dropped in the pot.
