Lawrence County Football Coach

Do-double-gg Wrote:I think this is just a little smart don't you. I did not argue with anyone on here before this and the person who said this is from northern Kentucky and knows nothing about Lawrence county. What was he doing on a post about Lawrence county trying to be smart. He is a troll that is why. I don't go to threads about other schools and argue with people.

by questioning your motivation? He has every right to post and defend someone. Again look at the title of the thread -"Lawrence County Football Coach ". It's absurd to thing you wouldn't get a passionate defense of a coach - even if you don't know then.

Funny thing is he probably couldn't tell you where Lawrence Co is even if you point it to him on a map:thanks:

I think the answer is neither. It is voicing your opinion. The coach of Lawrence county nor the players that I can tell or even on BGR. But if they are do you think that someone voicing their opinion will bring the program down. If what I said can bring this program down then we have big problems here in Louisa. And if what I said will make the players not trust the coach then how much faith did the have to begin with. I thin some of you put way to much stock and importance into what is said and done on BGR because a lot of people don't even know about it. If it will make all of you happy I will just act like a robot and never say anything that is hard to talk about or a touchy subject

You'll not find a whole lot of sentiment on this site by bashing a coach who is in his first year with a new team. And rightly so. Every coach and team deserves a shot at success. The author of this thread has just told every LC player that reads this thread that they can't trust thier new coach. Sad dude!!!

You should have been on here last year at this time when a couple so called Letcher Co. fans were bashing the new coach at that school and it affected many players and parents and coaches. It was the worst I've ever saw on here and I'm sure it affected the team to some degree. They have it hard enough just having to adjust to a new coach.

At the end of the day when all is said and done. Most of you on here don't know what I know about this school, program or coach. And notice I said most of you.
Some of you think he is new to this school but he is not. Some of you think this is his 1st year but it's not. That all just proves my point. How can you make comments about something you don't even know about. This coach is in his 2nd year as coach and things will only get worse from here. He was an assistant for years at this school and I could see with my own eyes that he was not all that good at teaching football. I don't question what kind of man he is or if he loves the kids and I would never do that. But I can and do question his ability to lead a team and program. When this season is over and done with you will all see what I am talking about. This man got this job because it was a quick hire and he works for the school anyway. I know for a fact that other people put in for this job who were more experienced but they had no chance. I don't have anything more to say about this so see ya.

you are the definition of what a full-blown idiot behind a computer is. coach cecil has ONLY 1 year at lchs under his belt. year #2 hasn't even started, and you are already preaching about being doomed. they lost a lot to graduation the year salmons left. then they lost even more last year to graduation. they are very young and inexperienced yet you want them to look like the Green Bay Packers on day #1.

i haven't liked every coach i either have had or that coached a team i supported. they do their job like i do mine. i bet you would like it for coach cecil to criticize the job you do at your employment publicly. if you can do better, then go coach! coach salmons liked cecil and thought he was a good coach. you said salmons didn't ask him to go to midland. why is that? because cecil has a family and has roots in lawrence county. he couldn't just pack up and move. why is that hard to believe? it wasn't that salmons didn't think he could coach.

i'll end by saying this again, and hopefully you will understand. you could have the greatest coaches in the world coach lchs football this year and they STILL WILL STRUGGLE. it has nothing to do with coaching. it is all about scheduling and talent.

So when other's disagree with your assessment- they're trolls, uninformed, or what ever. If you don't think posting negatives about a man doesn't hurt then so be it. But when the seeds of doubt have been planted, and parents talk about and make comments about a coach it weakens a program. Teenagers understand and when they hear people ripping on the coach be here on a chat site, yelling from the stands, or where ever it can effect the effort they put forth. If these kids believe the "street" talk then it will effect the team.
With that I'm done:igiveup: Good Luck and Goodbye.
Guys..Guys..Guys.. No need to rationalize with this goober, he has already informed you that he has never, not once put in the Blood, The Sweat, The Tears on a Friday night, He cannot Fathom what it takes to be commmited to something with as much honor as protecting your brother. He is one of those that wishes it had happened but never could man up to lace up. I bet he can dominate you on Madden 2012 though.. Just let it go,, hell go away soon enough

I will never go away, I like sports to much, heck I will probably be on here long after you go away. LOL This thread is dead by the way so move on and get over your self.:biglmao: Confusednicker:
With all do respect double g, you are an idiot and have no bearing on Lawrence county football. I do respect your passion for the game and program because believe it or not you are the type of people who make Friday nights even more enjoyable for young men due to the passion you show. It takes a couple of crazies to make a player feel above the magicial heavens when those lights turn on. Anyways, back to the thread, I believe that no matter if a coach is in his 80th year or 1st, a winner is a winner. The talent level that Lawrence County had to work with last year defianetly should have been better reflected by their performance. A coach takes talent and molds them into winners!! I'm not saying that Cecil is a bad guy and wouldn't give the shirt off his back but will last season reflect the future outcome of what's to come? If you are willing to say that the senior leadership and the talent of last years team couldn't produce better results, then I question your football IQ of what it takes to take a team beyond their capabilities. He is in a young period in a head coaching career at LC and especially from a program that demands the impossible as it seems at times. But is this a telling tell of what the future holds? If he can't work with what he had last year can the program wait another 3 years for talent to re-surface? Nothing against coach cecil and his coaching staff but maybe I just see the writing on the wall a little clearer than most; he will be replaced in 2 years with mediocre results and a un happy bulldog nation. I would love to eat crow on this one but that's just my opinion!!

That is not completely true. I was in the U.S Army for a few years and I guess that is a lot like being on a football team but just with a lot more brothers. But no I never did play football and ya know a lot of times I wish I did because I love football so much. Probably would not be very good but how many people are. I don't think I could beat anyone at madden??????but I could beat you at checkers.LOL

With all due respect I probably am an idiot, no, not even probably I am an idiot and I like it that way. I will tell you this one thing I believe however. A man by the name of Albert Einstein said that the true definition of insanity is doing the same thing the same way over and over again and expecting a different result and that is what this school does and that is what the coach did with this team last year. And I could not agree more with you that with the the talent this team had last year that they should have done better. They might even still have the same record but they should have done better then they did against every team they had. Not to bring up the past but I remember one year that we upset Breathitt county and went to the state semies against Burbon county. Now who was the coach of that team??? Do you give up, none other then Dudley Hilton. Do you know what year that was for him at Bourbon????? Give up, it was year number one #1. Now before people start pounding on me, let me say this. I dont compare this coach to Hilton nor should I expect that much from him but coach Hilton took over that team and never had a program going yet and did not even know the players yet and they won the state championship. Now I dont care if he had nfl talent at every position at that school that is a lot to acomplish in one year. This Lawrence coach had a lot of big advantages on coach Hilton. He knows the program, Knows the system, knows the players and was an assistant here for years The only games we won last year was a few that we were supposed to win and some of those were close. The Morgan county game was neck and neck and the only reason we won was because our off week came on Morgans last season game so we had 2 weeks to prepare to their 1 week. Now with all that said I think that if this coach was even 1/2 as good as Hilton that is all I ask just 1/2 we should have done better. Is this a good way to judge a coach? I don't know for sure but I think you can tell a lot from a coaches 1st year. Bottom line, this man has been coaching for a long time with this school and others so do you expect him to find some coaching ability and knowledge all of a sudden that he forgot about???? I don't think so. Just my opinion
At the end of the day when all is said and done I leave all of you with this question. Do you think the team from last year was better at the end of the year then at the start. All good teams with good coaches get better every week. So if at the end of the year if we started the the schedule over again and took on all those teams on again would we play better. Like Ashland, they got a lot better so do you think we would not win but do better. I want you to be honest with yourself and put aside your ego and dislike of me for just one moment and be honest. I think if you don't judge a coach by any other way this is the one most tested by time. A good coach will make his team just a little better every hour and every week and every practice and game and they will be a new team in the end. And with that I am going to bedConfusedleep:

This is really sad. I do know the LC team and Coaches. I had a Senior Graduate from that team in 2012 and I have a soon to be Freshman for the same team. Fact is my older son played in the Luke Salmons ( with Joey Cecil as the defensive co-ordinator...so clarifying what I know as a fact) era and he was an excellent coach. He told these boys as Freshman after the "0"fer season he would not leave until they were all gone. Well, we all know this was not true. He walked on them their Senior year. LC needed a coach who wanted to be here and was not worried about where the next job may led. Do I think the LC team and Coach needs to re-look at some of the plays that did not work last year and maybe reconsider a few of the Assistant Coaches? Yes, I do. But the main problem here is, I know for a fact remember I have an upcoming Freshman on the team, who loves to get on here and see what people are saying about the team he loves and works so hard for. They take these comments to heart. Your "sorry" negative opinions need to be kept to yourself for the sake of the boys who are working their guts out. They are doing this for the love of the game and are working under one of the few coaches who probably won't walk out for another team. Please find another website to troll ( it appears TOPIX would be more your speed) or find the positives to motivate..what good does it do you to put comments on here that truly are hurtful to these young players.. What was the old coaches record last year at the new school he went to.

He went 8-4 in a very tough district and even the 4 games he lost were with in a couple of points except one team in the post season. You can look it up. The new team is Cabell Midland over in WV. He did not win every game but he was competitive and that is all I ask in a coach in his first year.

I love the young people in this town and county. I want all the kids in every sport in Lawrence county do good. I have 2 kids who are 7 and 2 who will some day go to Lawrence county high school. I just think that this coach is not the future of this program. When I talk about this coach I don't put down the team or any players. The Lawrence county bulldogs, the red and black is bigger than any one coach. Coaches will come and go in the history of this school but the school and the bulldogs will always be here. I want the kids of the football team to get the best and be the best that they can. Sorry if I said some things that you don't like but what do you want me to do,lie. This is the way I feel. It is just my opinion and you and and every person on this earth has their own opinion. You know what they say about opinions everyone has one and they all stink to the people who have a different opinion. I hope your kid does great and has a good football career.
Cabell Midland finished 7-3 in the regular season, good enough to win the #7 seed in AAA (there are no districts or regions in West Virginia football. The top 16 teams in a class make the playoffs). They lost in the quarterfinals to #2 Bridgeport rather badly if I remember correctly, but AAA was basically a three team race last year. Bridgeport dropped to AA for 2012, and I expect Midland to continue improving.
This is a no win situation for me. If I came on here and said that he was a great coach and would make this program a power house and I see a state championship in our future people would come on here and pound on me for that. They would say I was crazy and dreaming. I promise you there are more people from this town and county who feel the way I do then those who think he is good. Heck in hindsight maybe that is ehat I should do. Maybe we would get some more Lawrence people on here. LOLConfusednicker:

I have said it before and I will say it again. I love this game and I love the bulldogs and all I want is for this team to get strong and be competitive year in and year out and I don't think this is the coaching staff that can get this done. If this team does even worse then last year some of the same people who are on here defending him will be on here around October saying the same thing as me and they will act like they knew it all along. If he was a new coach and new to this school I would not say a word and I would give him a few seasons to see what he can do but he is not new to coaching and not new to Lawrence football. What you see is what you get.

By the way, don't take things so serious. This is a place to talk about sports and trash talk and argue about your point of view. If people on here started to keep their opinions to theirself what would be the point of BGR, would be nothing to talk about. If you want people to keep their opinions to theirself you came to the wrong place.(It appears bluegrass preps would be more your speed.) And by the way, how do you know about toppix unles you go on it. I went on it one time and decided it was stupid and never been on it since.

Anyone know of any scrimmage dates/ times for Lawrence County yet?
Lawrence County has two solid linebackers returning in Jordan Wellman, and Blake Watson. I loved watching these two play last year, they were all over the field.
Hey double, have you gone and offered Coach Cecil the benefit of your expertise? You know he's shorthanded on coaches and has openings, right? If you love football foremost, and Bulldog football more than any other and now that you're fully matured and all the requisite glands have dropped, maybe you should go volunteer. I mean, you already go to practice all the time, know all the weaknesses and their solutions.
I look forward to your addition to the staff and the subsequent rescue of our football fortunes and the start of your Goldsmith-Williams-Hilton-Salmons-esque coaching career.
See you at the gridiron!

(LOL) I would if I could. I think it would be fun to be a coach. A coach needs to have a thick skin and except the fact that he will be judged and ridiculed at every turn, because it comes with the job. The job of a coach is in the spotlight more then most jobs and they know this when they take the job so if ya can't take the heat get out of the kitchen. A good coach will ignore it and just use it as motivation to prove all the doubters wrong.
