Alot different when the big guys get in there along with the running game, but its allways great to hear that Rock "A run first team" having sucsses in the passing game.

they have look pretty good. cant wait to see them go up madison southern in a week. Then we will be able to tell more.

I wear purple and gold now but I still bleed Rockcastle red!!!!! My son will play for Somerset next year and my step son plays for Rock now so you can imagine the dinner table conversations we have at times. Heard coach Saylor said it was toughest camp in 10 years. I hope they do well and contain that " all american back" they have! ;-)!!! IMHO Rock will do well against Madison Sothern. Make sure you keep me posted on the game if you can! Thanks. I remember the same Hype when Arlyis Beach came to the rock and left with under 70 yards rushing. Its easy to run until someone hits you square in the mouth and no doubt rock is ready to do some hitting, it is just bred into the boys around here! Go Rock will be watching and wishing you guys the best of luck!!!

Madison Southern has got great talent on offense if we stop the offense then I will be impressed and on our offense from what I hear its going be 3 to 4 runningbacks being used not just the fast kid lol

One came home beat up one side and purple down the other. Said he was supposed to "take on the trap" all camp. I told him you don't do that with your back when I saw the paint can sized bruise on his hip. Oh well, what don't kill you.... I started feeling a little better about the team after seeing them in camp the other day. They were hitting each other up pretty good and taking it and dishing it out as well. Big question mark still falls on the defensive line and to some degree the offensive line in my opinion. The question being, will they be able to block for the bread and butter Rockcastle plays and will they be able to contain on defense. August 9th is coming quick.

Southern won 2 games last year. I know the one kid is D-I but am I missing something ?!?

I agree 64 B&G. No doubt the one kid is good but it takes 11 on both sides! They may lay an a** whooping on Rock but I dont see it! You need to be consistent to earn respect that other teams such as The Rock gets! I hope Madison has a good year but I see Rocks Defense being too much for them. With all this said we will see Thursday night.

I really like Corey and think he will def be more talked about come mid season on here. I spoke to coach Parkey tonight and if he sticks to what he says they will throw much more. Corey has a linebackers mentality at the qb position. He will suprise many with his play, IMHO!

Russell will be the best team they play. Russell returns 21 starters and only losing one senior to playing time. Hopefully russell doesnt over look Rock. Should be a good game.

Russell_Football, in case you didn't know their is another school called Russell High and they are relevant to this forum as well. I just wanted you to know so people did not get confused by your posts. Maybe calling them Russell County or the Lakers or 'the team from Jamestown/Russell-Springs', etc...

I am not mandating it, obviously, but I just want you to know about the other Russell school just so you can be aware of it.

After tonight scrimmage Rock has a lot of things to work on. It was not pretty. Rock usually has a solid run defense, but they gave up some big runs tonight. guys trying to hit and not wrap up is not gonna get the job done. Scrimmage summary. Rock scored on there first play, Corey McPhetridge pass to Tyler Harper for 75 yd TD. Southern would score on the next drive on a yard run by Cody Russell 7-7. Rock's next drive went 5 plays, Damien Mcdaniel had a 60 yard run but would be brought down at the 20. Rock scored 2 plays later with a rushing TD from Tommy Shafer. Rock stopped southern on there next drive. Rock went on to score another rushing TD from Brandon Jones. score was 20-7 Rock. Southerns next drive Cody Russell broke 4 or 5 tackles and scored his second rushing TD of the night this one was for 25 yards. Score was Rock 20-14 neither varsity teams would score again. they played JV in the 4th quarter. when I left the clock had done ran out but bot freshman teams were getting a drive in
