Ashland's defense played well and caused multiple turnovers leading to great field position. Baker had 4 TDs for Ashland. Rowan's 290lb fullback was held to 48 yards rushing as the d-line and lbs stuffed the run. Rowan did pass for a little over 100 yds though on a couple of nice throws from their Soph. QB.

The kitty cats are pretty good. Especially on the line of scrimmage .

Congrats Ashland.

Kinda what everyone expected. Glad to see the cats bounce back from the Ironton loss in a big way.

Ashland's D dominated this game and Mr.Baker continues to stand out. Rowan County isnt very good and they're clueless on defense.

I heard over the weekend that Coach Hart is trying to schedule Fairview now. I like the local matchup and all but I'm sorry playing Fairview isnt going to get us ready for Highlands or Covington Catholic. In the past two weeks he's tried to schedule Paintsville and now Fairview. I love what Coach Hart has done for our program but playing single A schools isnt going to get us ready for the playoffs. I wonder who he's trying to drop. I know it's not Raceland or Russell because those are easy wins. I could see droping Lawrence County but could he be wanting to drop George Washington or Belfry? These games along with Ironton are the only good games that we have on our schedule that will prepare us for the playoffs.Has anybody else heard what is going on with our schedule for next year?

If Hart is trying to schedule more Class A teams, it would appear that he is more interested in racking up wins for his coaching record than in competing for a state championship. Tomcat Pride is correct. You can't prepare for Highlands, Covington Catholic, Lexington Catholic, and a few of the other top Class 4A schools by playing the locals. Ashland's schedule is weak enough as it is now.

With the transfers eligible Fairview has the best set of skill players in NEKY.
Boy are you in for a heavy dose of reality after this senior class moves on. Raceland and Fussell are both going to be very good in a couple of years. Be careful what you wish for little kitty .

I know for a fact GW has been renewed. Probably drop Lawrence. Which even though Lawrence is a bigger school fairview is a better team.

You Russell people have been saying this for the last few years, and yet you have been dominated by Raceland and Ashland.

I never said this year or next year would. In fact I've said for a long time next year will be down a lot of youth. After that they will be good. Raceland is looking pretty stout through this years 8th graders. Following next year Ashland faces a drop off.

Everybody called for that after last years class nobody saw the depth that was playing on Monday nights. Believe me its there there's a load of talent in those sophs an Jrs. An these boys see plenty of time friday nights subbing for starters. Thats one of the best things about this coaching staff they keep fresh legs in the games an that showed this year with the level of play staying about the same as last year or even better on Defense. Look for more of the same. Sorry fball if any droppoff it will be very little.

Now we just gotta keep building it and improving it so soon we can challenge the big boys of the state. To be honest I think we are knocking on that door but haven't quite made our way in yet. But our biggest playmaker on offense this year is a freshman So we will be just fine.

You were definitely right about this years group. I thought after losing all of those skill players there would be a significant drop. I underestimated how good that front line really is.
If you can reload the line of scrimmage like that you can sustain. I'm not saying they will be terrible but I don't see them staying at this level. Time will tell.
Raceland is well stocked back to 8th grade and Russell will be significantly better after next year. Time will tell on that as well.

I give Coach Hart credit for that taking control and building that program from bottom to top. I don't think you guys could have made a better hire at that time .

I must say I love why coach hart has done. Not only is he a great coach but is also a great person that wants these kids to succeed. I hope he never leaves Ashland. Even when he is done coaching I hope he stays around like herb Conley has.

If the cats want get better they need to drop Lawrence county and Raceland and play teams like Bell and Lexcath. Get rid of the cupcake games and replace them with teams that can challenge us to be state contenders. Are we more concerned with a winning record and beating teams by 20 or 30 points or do we want want our kids to be their best. We in the Tomcat nation have settled for mediocrity too long. I truly believe that my beloved tomcats can compete with anybody but it's not enough to just believe. They need the tougher schedule.

We need to drop Raceland and Lawrence and pick up teams like Lexcath and Bell. Enough with the cupcake games. We can pad the schedule with teams we are supposed to beat by 20 and be pretenders or we can toughen the schedule and be the contenders that the tomcats should be. Our failure to advance in the playoffs in my opinion is not lack of talent but lack of preparation as far as who we play.
