The biggest question in this one is how Justin Johnson looks in his first game back and if Keaton Taylor and Peyton Mullins are back on the field.

This one will be over after the first quarter. Belfry names the score in a running clock.

Belfry could win by 100+ if they wanted to, but that won't happen

I just hope Jaylin Williams survives this game so he can play basketball this year for Knott Central. I'd hate to be a Patriot Running back or QB in this one. OUCH!!!!!!!!

Belfry has this one in the bag.

What is your obsession with the Williams kid? You basically said the same thing when Knott played Breathitt. Are you upset he plays at Knott and not Hazard or Perry?

Hope to see Belfry continue to work on their passing game, really believe their passing game could be the difference in a run back to BG. Like to see them throw it about 15 to 20 times in this game, almost positive that we will win this game with no problem. I wish we would run a few plays out of the shotgun formation(as one other poster mentioned),this would help Sani be able to get seven or eight yards behind the line of scrimmage. Seems like most of our pass plays only let him playaction and set up only four or five yards back,if he could get a few more yards back in the pocket,he would be able to see his receivers better and be able to see were the rush is coming from better. I feel like this offense is just starting to take off....Belfry- 53/Knott County-14

I was thinking about it, and Belfry has pretty good personnel if they needed to run out of the spread in a 2 minute and/or come from behind situation.
Warren is a more than capable passer and Carr would be an ideal HB to stay back in pass protection, who still has the skill set to be used on a draw or a flare out if needed.
Messer is ideal to be lined up at TE to maximize protection, or if you solely need him to line up as a 4th WR he certainly is adept and skilled enough as well.
Taylor is a prototypical slot receiver. He has the ability to take a short pass and get up field with his feet, he has the speed to get across the field on crossing routes or he can get down field on deeper routes. If need be, you can also motion him back as a second Halfback if you want to give a different look or have enough time to utilize a running game.
Huddle is a true wideout. He runs crisp routes and has very good hands and is skilled enough to come back to the ball to help Sani if he has to roll out.
Robinson is a HB by trade, but anyone who follows Belfry football knows he may very well be the best receiving threat on the team. He has not only displayed he has good hands, but he has made several amazing catches in his career. I like the idea of lining him up on the same side as Taylor in the slot. This will allow him to work downfield and force the Safety's hand (who also has to be aware of Huddle going deep on the otherside as well as Taylor getting to the middle of the field), while also putting him in proximity to peel back and block for Taylor on quick hitters and bubble screens.
If Belfry has this package in their repertoire, which I feel they do as they ran some shotgun with Sani last year, I would love to see some of it the next two weeks. Everyone east of I-75 knows what defensive look Breathitt will give Belfry. It would do the Pirates a lot of good if those Safeties and CB's that are expecting to be playing the run all night suddenly had to worry every possession about multiple capable receivers in space. Additionally, I wouldn't mind forcing Holcomb to waste an entire day of preparation solely on having to honor Belfry running a variation of the spread.

In my opinion Belfry needs to stick with it's bread and butter at this point of the season, running the football. It is very hard to impliment a passing game that will be effective at this point of the season when all you have done up to this point is run, run, run. Belfry has always thrown a couple of play action passes during a game but it's hard to imagine Belfry throwing 15 to 20 times a game. A perfect example was last week with Johnson Central trying to throw the ball against Belfry. Johnson Central is a run oriented team. How did that work out for them? Me personally, I don't mind Belfry attempting to throw the ball 15 to 20 times a game. If this happens against Breathitt, the bobcats will have the advantage. So by all means, throw the ball as many times as you want.

I really think the kid is a tremendous football player, basketball player, and a baseball player. I think he would shin more on a better team. I DO NOT WANT Jaylin to get hurt. With NO BLOCKING great athletes get hurt. I wished he was at Hazard or Perry. He would be better off at Hazard athletically but I am sure his is a Patriot at Heart. I love the kid.

Belfry's passing game is very stout this year and they have had quite a bit of success with it against Ashland and JC. This is probably the best equipped Belfry team to throw the ball in well over a decade. In fact, just as you use Johnson Central as an example of "why not to pass", in that same game the difference maker was Belfry's ability to convert key third downs and find success moving the ball. On all three of Belfry's scoring drives it was their passing game that resulted in crucial conversions that continued the drives.
Belfry will not get away from their bread and butter, especially now that appears they are on the verge of having a completely healthy backfield for the firs time since about Week 2, but they have had issues that would help be resolved by utilizing a spread offense in specific cases.
Trailing against Ashland in the 4th Belfry was still using play action on obvious 3rd and Long situations. Warren was throwing a beautiful ball all day and was accurate as usual, but Ashland was teeing off on him every pass. Had Warren operated out of the gun on these obvious passing downs he would have had more time to see up field and throw, instead of getting crushed after he carried out his play fake and dropped back. Belfry has also had some bouts of gross clock mis-management in a 2 minute drill setting.
To put it bluntly, this is not your typical Belfry offense and Warren is not your typical Belfry QB. If you ask Ashland and JC fans they will attest that Belfry is much more equipped to throw the ball then in year's past. With that said, if Belfry never has to throw a pass then Haywood is happy and that is what he strives for every game... if Belfry is having to throw 15 times then they are probably losing.

They will need that passing game to be effective to beat a team like Louisville Central.

But a Haywood led Belfry team will long drive you for four quarters to win.So what I think is a better more confinate and comfortable passing game will only help this team reach its goal.Belfry fans know we can run,and run the ball we will, but once we have teams worrying about our passing game more than usual,it only makes us stronger as a TEAM.
