Two Iranian Su-25 fighter jets fired on an unarmed U.S. Air Force Predator drone in the Persian Gulf on November 1, the Pentagon disclosed on Thursday.
The incident, reported first by CNN, raised fresh concerns within the Obama administration about Iranian military aggression in crucial Gulf oil shipping lanes.
The drone was on routine maritime surveillance in international airspace east of Kuwait, 16 miles off the coast of Iran, U.S. officials said. The Predator was not hit.
"Our aircraft was never in Iranian airspace. It was always flying in international air space. The recognized limit is 12 nautical miles off the coast and we never entered the 12 nautical mile limit," Pentagon Press Secretary George Little said in responding to questions from reporters after CNN reported the incident.
Little said the United States believed this was the first time an unmanned aircraft was shot at by the Iranians in international waters over the Gulf. In December of 2011, a U.S. surveillance drone crashed in eastern Iran. Iranians claimed to have shot it down, and created a toy model of the drone to celebrate its capture.
Little stopped short of calling the incident an act of war although the Pentagon was concerned.

This is being reported now 5 days after it happened?
Why is the White House getting away with this sort of behavior? Benghazi first now this?
What else is being covered up for political reasons?

then why wasn't it released 4 days ago? This is the same administration that got actionable intelligence from Bin Laden and rushed to tell the world that we got him blowing any chance of getting more evil doers

Getting osama was a big win for the USA. Of course we would gloat about that. Who wants to gloat about getting a drone shot at?
11-08-2012, 09:05 PM

11-08-2012, 09:07 PM

If it was no big deal over the drone why wait till after the election?

They might have been considering strategic moves first. Let the military handle this. They know their business.

Yes, in my opinion the release of this information was delayed for political reasons.

That's a little misleading...
Active campaigns, covert operations and some other military exercises, yes. But a drone??

When there are questions about the man in the white house, foreign policy, Iran and Israel....it's a big deal

No, we shouldn't just sit back, Sally. But what else do we do?
Look at Benghazi.....no one held responsible for that horrible atrocity or the cover up bullshit that was spewed out of the white house.

Then why report Bin Laden hours after his death?
11-08-2012, 09:16 PM
Perhaps because that was something positive that could bolster Obama's platform. It was successful.....
You see, Obama called the navy seals and they killed Bin Laden. The navy seals called Obama and they were denied....
Sorta makes you wonder, doesn't it??

Almost two months after an Ambassador died and what have we gotten? Look how quick the media jumped on the death of Treyvon Martin, yet everyone is looking the other way over the death of an Ambassador

For all we know the military is still processing information, and letting information out as they think is necessary. We don't have a clue what's in motion. Don't be an armchair General, they've people to do that job. You are just like me, you don't have one clue on things military.
