WYMT...What's up?
#1
20 mins?

What happened to the 45 min nights and the great highlights?

Where's Big D when you need him?

Anyone else noticing this?

:please:

Tweeted about this earlier, Josh responded. They were forced to cut it short. Kills me, I love the Friday night tradition.
#3
Some one should be fired for not having the Harlan Co Belfry game on tonight. Please explain to me how North Laurel and Clay can be the game of the week.
#4
Its ridiculous.. if it is going to be that short it might as well be taken off the air. I don't know whos call it was to shorten it but they need to reconsider. Where is Keith Casebolt and Brian Milam when ya need them. Those were the days!
#5
Glad it's not just me.

Come on WYMT!

It's all about the kids!

Sports OT is a must!

At least do a webcast of the entire show...get your GOTW and maybe two other big games in as well as the scoreboard in the 20 minutes of Live TV... then hit the highlights of the other games, Play of the Week, Player of the Week, Catch of the Day on the full webcast that is archived.

I am sure the time aspect is out of their hands as every sports show in Georgia is under the same constraints except with 10X the number of teams.

The other option is to do a full hour show to air on Saturday Morning.

I felt the same way, I suspected once Derek left that Sports OT wouldn't be the same.

No disrespect to Josh & Tanner.

I do like the new set tho...its pretty snazzy.

TV channels are ran by advertising and viewership. Essentially, all about #1 but #2 helps drive #1. If you want changes, the best way to do it is with your remote. Write, email, call, etc... letting them know your wishes and then stop watching.

Essentially, the only way to affect/effect television change is with the remote.

I have DirecTV, and pay extra cable JUST for WYMT. I'm a little disappointed.

Just when I've convinced myself that you are crazy, you come up with an idea like this!! I love it!!! Hope they consider that; it would be great for the kids.

I have satellite so I don't get WYMT anymore, however I think this week may have been the poorest that I've watched since they started Sports Overtime (I have to watch a internet feed). It used to be the best high school sports show around. Now they have destroyed it. Well maybe a bit over dramatic. But I think you get my point. Sure hope the powers to be read these things because I think there followers are trying to tell them something but I'm not sure they care!

This is CBS's call... NOT WYMT. Josh and Tanner obliviously would love to continue doing 11:20 to midnight like before. However if WYMT wants to remain a CBS affiiflate, they have to abide by the NEW guidelines.

So, just to be clear. It's not the change of personel for the shorter show....... It's CBS's new policy.

As for the game of the week on Friday Night. That's a CBS and money thing as well. If WYMT can't buy that time from CBS, then they can't do the game. It costs thousands of dollars for a 7:30 to 10:30 time slot. Apparently there were enough people/businesses from the Belfry and Harlan Co. Community that were interested in buying sponsorships.

The Clay County Bowl games are going to be on, because enough sponsorships were sold to buy that time from CBS so that WYMT can show its own programming.

The TV industry is a business. Please understand that before bashing the guys on TV that have zero control with the time of show.

I wish it was longer too. I noticed it last night that it seemed a little shorter. They had some decent highlights but it wasn't like it used to be. No disrespect to the guys that host it though. I know its hard to get the game footage then edit all in such a short time and they have to do what WYMT wants them to do.
#13
Wymt does a great job I understand show me the money :1:
#14
Exactly what is the new CBS policy that affected the show/timeslot? I hadn't heard about it and I'm wondering if someone could elaborate?

Did anyone try selling ads for the Harlan co Belfry game because you would think that would be a easy sale.

Can't they get sponsors for 30 mins every Friday night? As I recall. Each Big play had a Sponsorship. Such as "The Long John Silver Catch of The Day". There had to be money coming from those. Surely they can raise enough for 30 mins each week.

I believe someone has dropped the ball here and it is easy to lay it off on the big corporation.
#18
It's called David Letterman. Thats the reason that CBS has been on WYMT. WYMT has been pushing Letterman back for years. Now CBS is not going for it anymore.

No one has dropped the ball.

WYMT has even shortened the News to 10 minutes, to allow Sports OT to run 25 minutes instead of 15.

Any thoughts on my ideas earlier for either a full length webcast or an hour long Saturday Morning Special?
#21
Fullcount looks like a CBS Excutive, psych! Why defend WYMT? Are you affiliated? Do u know these things for sure, or is this conjecture? I understand network commitments
And requirements just like everyone else, but they have managed to do it in the past and it's just hard to accept!!!
#22
It's not defending WYMT... it's stating facts. Facts trump opinion/theories. The fact is, it doesn't matter who is/was at WYMT, CBS came down hard on them for the Letterman fiasco. Therefore, Sports OT had to be shorten to enable Letterman to be on at 11:35.

64SUR is right on with this, many times I've been in Lex or L'ville and watched their versions of SO and it's not even close. Better highlights and depth of the program insight but it would be nice to see it go back to what it was. Bring back Jay Crawford from ESPN and Derrick this would be the best Friday night high school football show in the south
#24
Fact, not theory: A lot less people will be watching WYMT on Friday nights.
#25
In all honesty guys, you can blame CBS and that dbag Letterman for WYMT having to shorten the show this year.
#26
Who wants Letterman? Bring back my Sports Overtime!!!!!!!!!!
#27
We all want more Sports OT and less Letterman... but unfortunately the rest of CBS's audience isn't from Eastern Kentucky.
#28
^^ Show us what we want. Show them what they want. It is possible.
#29
Would be nice if they can at least do a online show so we can watch. Do some other new stuff during the week.

My Priorities are:
1)God
2)Family
3)Cougar Athletics!

Everything else doesn't matter!

What happened to Derrick?
