Final from Madison Southern. Any details on this one? What were Harris stats? Did it get chippy after the controversy during the JV game? After competing with some good teams but not being able to pull out a win are the Warriors starting to pack it in? The margin was surprising--I don't think the Eagles are as good as some of the teams that the Warriors have played close.

No excuses, just an update on SW. They had been competing and were in every game until last night.
First off, three of our best defensive players, Stewart Russell, Jacob Burchett, and Chris Lynch were all out with injuries. Much different defense without them.
On offense, RB William Lemmon broke his ankle earlier in the week. During the game last night, RB Skyler Stigall went out in the second quarter with bruised ribs. Early in the third quarter, right tackle Lucas Turpin went out with an apparent broken ankle. Then shortly thereafter, right guard Brandon Mayfield left with a concussion. Both may be out for the year. They were the primary blockers and huge holes to try and fill on offense.
I don't think the players are giving up but they are wearing down. They are still just kids and it's been a tough year.

From what I have heard the injuries for SW are racking up to the point of being ridiculous. I know every team has to deal with injuries but, when you don't have as big of a turnout as expected for the team to begin with and you have this many injuries you have to start looking towards next season. I think they still have a fighting chance against South Laurel and Lincoln Co though.

Until Southwestern gets some coaches who have coached above the Pee-wee level they will continue to lose.. Just not fair to a group of outstanding young men...

Aren't they 3-14 since replacing all of the assistants following the 2011 season?

Yes. But it's not like this HC has a long history of winning seasons. Those assistants you speak of only had a combined 30 yrs experience. It's all about who you know, anyone know who coached this head coach in HS? Bonus points if you can tell me what school that was at.

Given the exodus of players over the last 2 seasons and the results on the field it make you wonder whether the players in 2011 rallied around the assistants that they were familiar with or the current head coach. It sure seems like the former and not the latter...And I'm guessing the answer is the current principal and Casey County is the answer to your question?

Stephens made a huge mistake letting those assistants go. This current group well intended as they may be does and did not have the experience neccesary to take advanatge of talent coming up, sad for the kids n fans.

Actually the current superintendent. But good on the Casey co.

Weren't the former assistants asked to leave by the principal & AD?

I never did understand why the previous staff was gutted. They had had a lot of success.

I don't think the PC Bd of Ed felt comfortable placing any of the assistants in the HC position since none of them had previous HC experience. And the antics of one assistant during the playoff game at Anderson Co. in 2011 didn't help them any. That being said, I'm still waiting to hear what gave them the idea that Stephens had the experience or qualifications to take over a successful 5A program. The coaching staff wastes more time on designing the uniforms and fundraising than coaching and preparing the team.

28 carries 274 yards 4 touchdowns. Harris with another workmanlike evening.
