Who is the most overated star in pro sports
#1
i think peyton is and ken jr
#2
I think mike vick, when he came into the league everyone thought he was gonna bring a championship to alanta and be the best player in the nfl...so far he hasnt done anything and hasnt led the falcons anywhere....to me he is overated,to me he is not even the best player on that team,i think crumpler is....
#3
Vick for sure.
#4
It's Kobe. Yeah, he scores 35 points a night, but it's because he shoots the ball 60 times a night. I don't think Vick's overrated: he doesn't really have the supporting cast, plus the way he plays always gets him hurt
#5
T-Mac has done nothing for the rockets since he left orlando
#6
chad johnson ....
#7
dale ernhardt jr.
#8
Manning and Kobe overrated? I don't think so....
#9
manning is the best qb in the league .... (there is a thread who is the best qb in nfl several have manning listed )

Kobe --- between his personal life and his basketball skills they are one of the reasons why the NBA is still afloat ...
#10
Manning is the best QB in the league, maybe in the history of the league.

Most talented and best mind for the game? Probably. Best QB? Not even close. In the NFL, talent is measured by the ability to win the big games, he hasn't done that in the NFL, and he has been surrounded with talent.
#12
Vick
#13
Michael Vick lost a lot of his shine this year so i wouldnt say he's still overrated. Peyton IS the best quarterback in the league right now and eventually will prove to be the best ever. I assure you. Dale Jr. and Chad Johnson aren't overrated, they back themselves up. Ken Griffey Jr. is definitely not overrated because he doesn't play enough to be overrated (he's my favorite player btw).

So that leaves Kobe Bryant and the New York Yankees as the most overrated in sports.

by that logic .... dan marino is not one of the best. come on ....

chad johnson was unable to back anything up in the playoff game... and for the season ...
3rd with yards recieving (1432)
5th with 97 a game
9th with 9 td's for the year

the way he acts he should be #1 in all catagories

Dale jr. has been in nascar for 6 years (i threw out the first year with only a couple of races

# of wins = 16------ number of championships = 0 --- total wins = 16

in Gordon's first 6 years of NASCAR --
# of wins = 40 ------ number of championships = 3 --- total wins = 73

what has Dale jr. ever backed up ?

maybe I am missing something .....

No offense guys--but I think that you have just been served . . . .

evillive speaks the truth.

Maybe one of the most uninformed posts that I have seen in a while.

Most talented + Best Mind for the Game doesn't = BEST QB?

Are you kidding me?

Actually, the Colts inability to stop the run has a lot more to do with why the Colts haven't won the big game--not Payton Manning.

Have you forgotten that football is played on both sides of the ball?

Hasn't done anything? He led them to the NFC Championship game last year! And what about his outstanding game in Minnesota? The Falcons are an up and down kind of team. They have never had back-to-back winning seasons. The only thing wrong with Vick is he doesn't know how to play to his full potential in a west coast offense...He needs to stop trying to be old school QB and do what he does best, run the bootleg. And Crumpler is also a great player. Him, Vick, Dunn, Hall, and Brooking make that team what they are.

Kobe

Dan Marino is without a doubt the best qb of all time....he was awesome..

I think Joe Montana would have something to say about that....
#22
And Favre or Elway
#23
you got me there, evillive. But lucky for me that Jeff Gordon is my favorite driver!

No, there's a lot more to being a QB than that, for example: there's leadership, coming through in the clutch, and inspiring your team. Also, leading the offense, look how many times they went three and out or only a few plays more than three and out, your defense can't keep holding them when they're on the field that much.

Maybe, just maybe, your post was uninformed

No offense--but I know for a fact that my football judgement is just a tad bit better than yours. I wish I could sugar coat things for you--but that would be a waste of your time and mine.

Leadership? Yeah--I am sure that Manning doesn't have any leadership qualities. He leads by example--he studies, works, practices pretty hard.

Inspiring Your Team? Do you know anything about the NFL? If you have to be "inspired" to be there--then you aren't there. These guys get PAID to play. This isn't Pop Warner or High School. They play because they get paid. Pro players don't do the "get one for the gipper thing". Someone has been watching a little too much tv . . . . .

Leading your team in the clutch? If I remember correctly--the Colts were 14-2 in the regular season. That doesn't happen by accident. Also--if you will notice--the colts have been significantly better since Manner joined the Colts. How do you explain that again?

And before you say that Manning hasn't won any big games--remember this name JOHN ELWAY. He didn't sniff a Super Bowl win until his career is over. Therefore, your arguement carries NO WEIGHT.

As far as being "uninformed"--I will put my football background up against yours any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Bring it.
#26
are you referring to the Steelers game BFritz? Going three and out happens a lot when you play Pittsburgh:rock: Manning isnt overrated by any stretch, he's one of the top 3 quarterbacks in the league. Brady and Manning are the two quarterbacks i dread seeing my Steelers play against, because of not only their talent, mind, but their management of the game. I will say, though, that Manning WILL win a superbowl. Elway had to fail MISERABLY, i might add (39-20, 42-10, 55-10) , 3 times before he got his two. Now....................Im not so sure about calling Chad Johnson overrated. Chad Johnson is just a PUNK. But catching 97 balls for 1400+ yards and 9tds is a pretty darn good season for any punk. Junior, however is a different story. Sixteen wins in 6 years isnt anything special. And how many of those have come on superspeedways?
#27
Tide--we may not have seen eye to eye at the beginning--but I CAN'T argue with any of your logic now!

Great points--all backed up by factual data.
#28
tide --- i agree chad johnson is a punk ... i do agree he is good ... and i do think he is overrated ... the way that bengals fans talk about him... and heck the way he talks about him self he should be unstoppable and at the top of all the stats....
#29
Vick or Dale Junior!
#30
oh thats cool, lol....as long as we can both agree that he is a punk. And I know how Bengal fans talk about him. I heard that crap in Cincy this year during the steelers/bengals game. But I would take Hines Ward over a team full of Chad Johnsons. Hines does so much more than just catch passes. Hines dont care to bring the lumber or block. But its cool if you think Chad Johnson's overrated. I just wish i could bring myself to agree with you there, lol.
