Lawrence is DEFINATELY a better team than in years past. Cecil tried to keep the clock moving and shorten the game. IMO it was a good plan.

All you need to do is take a look at some of the comments that some of the Belfry fans make every year. Some of the Belfry posters on BGR are good people and the coach and players of the Belfry team are classy people but some of the Belfry posters on this site..........."not so much". All they said all week is how great they are and how bad we and all the teams in this district are and how they would hang a running clock on us. I said from day one that Belfry was being blinded by there (supposedly) strong schedule and as you can see people like skully03 are still hanging a hat on the Harlan County win and they will not except the fact that HC is not the 5a contender that we all thought they would be. What Belfry posters am I talking about ............ just look at all the posts on this thread and look at all the people who are making all the classic excuses they can think of and not one bit of respect for Lawrence County so why should I show any respect. The only Belfry fan who gave us any credit was the person who started the thread.

LETS see you at Harlan co. And see how close of a game you can make it. That was one heck of a game and NO I'm not hanging my hat on that game. I merely used that game as a reference to the defense that Belfry is capable of playing. And they did not play that defense last night that is evident. But still a win is a win. And maybe we will meet again in the playoffs. And I hope we do.

By rule the team last in possession where possession was lost may replay the down. Which Belfry choose to do. That is why the crew got together and discussed to make sure and get the call correct.

We played like crap the same way we did lay year when we came to lc and stomped the crap out of them. Another thing is LC runs our offense there isn't many ways to stop tht offense. 1. LC much improved. They lack a home run hitter who would help them capitalize on field position and the other team's mistakes.
2. The officials totally blew the "fumble" call. It would be nice to hear from that crew and see exactly what was called because IMO they did a good job discussing it, but they still made the wrong decision.
3. Belfry is still really good. 350 on the ground and overall over 400 with only one turnover is good. The lack of consistent play is what is holding them back. Also a couple of poor decisions offensively and the continued "dropped ball" on the deep ball is concerning.
4. Belfry is still trying a lot of combinations on D. Duty moving to nose part-time with A. Hatfield at LB. Frankly the LBs are still the weak spot on D. Ghormley and Mullins spoiled us. It is what it is. The D has shown big play capability, but hasn't "stuffed" teams consistently.
5. Most teams would love to have Justin Johnson, X Willis, and Andrew Fletcher as a starting backfield. None of those 3 saw a snap last night. That is over 1000 yards on the bench either injured, or in Fletcher's case, a product of other players getting the playing time.
6. Belfry has a bit of a "too much swagger" problem. They need to play every down with fire and controlled emotion and not worry about style or trying to make a highlight film every play.
7. No need for fans to get too riled up. This is basically the halfway point of most Belfry seasons. They need to and will get better. Big district game next week is the main one that matters then JC for pride and preparation.

It was ugly that's for sure...there was two calls that I KNOW should have went different ways. One was the fumble and the other was a TD pass in end zone where ball bounced of ground. Take those 14 points away and its a 21-12 game. Not a blow out in my book.

Ok as you know I am very close to the program... Was this the best Belfry team we have played not by a long shot... But let me tell you they are very dang good.... With that said so is LC.. but its hard to compete with Belfry size and speed at certain spots on offense and defense.
But the two plays that really turned to game around was the fumble by #6 and the recovery by LC and then because they had no clue what the other was doing decided to do a do over. yea that is very fair..esp when your the team that recovered the fumble... then very next play they score.. But earlier in the game as we were march and on the 15 or 10 with like a 3 and 5 and we call time out and they charge us with a delay of game. Stupid and it was the side official that made the call instead of the back judge. Stupid.. But the TD everyone is talking about by #19 was a clean catch. Good Luck the rest of the way and hopefully we see you in round 2.

Careful what you wish for. Belfry didn't play all they have in the backfield probably wont next week either. Don't forget they came off a big road win against a 2 time state championship football team in Tenn. A little let down is normal considering. Lets be frank a 3 touchdown win is a big win. Then factor in the long hard road win as well as several key players getting rest. Could get ugly for you when Belfry is at full force and ready to make that playoff run.:popcorn:

First things first: 1. Belfry fans know that LC usually gives Belfry a good game. I don't know why, but maybe it's a pride thing. They played us tough, regardless if Belfry didn't play to their full potential or not, or LC is improving as a program and team. Regardless of all the reasons, LC gave the Pirates a good game. I am a Belfry fan and I can say that and it doesn't make me any less loyal of a fan by saying it. There are times that we can come off real arrogant to other programs and then we wonder why so many other programs hate us. We won the game and sometime one expresses some humility, congratulates the other team on a well fought game, and moves on to focus on the next opponent. But we get caught up in pouring salt in opponents wounds or giving underhanded compliments, or making excuses why our boys didn't perform the way we expected. All in all, if you are the cream of the crop so to speak, then sometime you have to set the bigger example for the time being because nothing last forever (Even the Roman Empire fell) so there will be a day when we are on the opposite end of beat downs getting handed out. Just some food for thought.... 2. A couple of posters stated that no whistle was blown on the fumble, but one of the refs blew his whistle before the ball was fully recovered. They thought the QB pulled back in and blew the whistle, but the kids were still scrambling for the ball. It was the right call for Belfry to keep possession, but it was a bad call to blow the whistle prematurely. 3. LC looked good and played us tough and I am glad it was an injury game for all kids involved. 4. Belfry boys will be fine because they are a very good group of young men out there and I am sure they will succeed in whatever endeavors they pursue in the future, because football is just a game that binds that brotherhood forever. It's life after THE GAME that really matters isn't it? Sometime in all of our hooping and hollering I think we lose sight of that. Whether they win another a game or not, I am one proud Papa of my Pirate and his band of brothers.

Ok, so here's my rant. I love the fact btw that if Belfry don't put up 49+ per game or running clock by the 2nd quarter were all of a sudden beatable. Fans can run their mouths on the boards and talk big games, but games aren't won by fans on message boards...they are won on the field. Every fanbase has that 1% that are a bit crazy and drink the Kool-Aid. But knowledgeable fans can think rational and see things CLEARLY.
Another year and another game you lost to Belfry...get over it! If LC thinks they are that good...we will see you again in about 4 weeks and we'll see if you can back up your talk. ACTIONS speak louder than WORDS.
