McCreary County needs to go Independent next season. Those kids do not deserve to get beat like they do week in week out. Set them up a nice Independent schedule.
Something like this
Jenkins
Phelps
Allen Central
South Floyd
Pineville
Knott County
Im sure theres many other small schools that struggle having a team.
Play Bell JV, Corbin JV, Pulaski JV and some other Good JV Teams on Thursday nights. Do it next year and maybe go back to the district when they get a little more competitive.

Look at their non-district schedule for this year. They already did this. They signed 2 year contracts. I don't really understand how being independent helps you. You can schedule 6 winnable games already. You should be able to play with one other team in the district that's 7 games you are competitive in. What are you playing for if your not in a district? Let me ask you this. As in the case of East Ridge where they would have finished 3rd in their district this year, how stupid do you look now that you would have been competitive with a regular schedule that you now aren't going to the playoffs and you should've. How do those kids feel right now knowing they will be at home while someone who they beat continues to get another game.

Wayne County by a bunch. McCreary is vastly out manned.

Those kids may not want another game after getting beaten to death all year long. They would probably be looking at a 3 or 4 seed anyway. Thats about a 50 - 0 beat down in the first round. Nothing wrong with the kids just playing for the love of the game. 10 games is enough any way. McCreary is a basketball school anyway.

Don't know about being a Basketball School. Hadn't made it out of Dist for 3 years and don't think they will this year. Kids need to play for Something. Go get 6 winnable games.

Looks like your Middle School team is good Cellking. Can you keep all those kids together or will they head to Somerset or Pulaski? Just curious of all those kids will stick around.

I hope they all stay and play here. Troxell kid has already gone to Somerset. Don't know if any others will leave or not. I know this Staff works hard and in time will get it going in right direction, if they get the support they need. That is a big IF????

Where do you think E.R. would finish 3rd in the district? Dropping out of district is done in the off-season, which means this was done in Dec. and Jan. of last year. Schedues are made in the off-season, and although some people on here think they can schedule the 6 teams they want around the district competition, I assure you it isn't as easy as all that. In E.R.'s case, the program had won 1 game in 2 years and the staff met with the players before this was done. Everyone felt it was better to re-build the program by playing a competitive schedule. As always you always have some of these jack-wagon internet coaches that have all the answers and solutions. The bottom line is, the E.R. program is better by dropping out of the district and playing teams they can compete with and they have enjoyed some very good success this season, something that has been missing for awhile and hopefully, will parlay into stronger interest, support, and participation in the future.

Wasn't East Ridge 5-1? Ummmmm they won 5 games before the district season even started. How would your schedule have been any different? Your telling me you guys wouldn't have beaten Sheldon Clark this year and been the 3 seed? I maybe a jack wagon but all the 1-9/ 2-8 teams out there can schedule each other about every cycle. Don't tell me they cannot.

Set them up a nice Independent schedule.Geographly they are the worst position team in the state. That combined with the socio economical conditions make it darn near imposible They are spread from hell to yonder They travel farther to practice than you can imagine, I would not know the first step toward improvement. However they have good supporters and some damn good athletes, but filling the holes is a hell of a problem. Great people Donnie Wright would do anything to have a successful program it is just difficult. This comes from a person in Williamsburg Who loves the people and county well.

Last Transfer got to play in 1 scrimmage, 10 regular season games, 4 play-off games. Played in Best of Bluegrass All-Star Game and Border Bowl Game. Made All Dist. Ap All State, Courier Journal All State. Played on 20 win Basketball Team. Played in Regional Finals. Was Team MVP, Made All Dist. and All Region. Compare that to what would have been at McCreary Central. Then all you haters can run that mouth!!!
