Our best teams at JC was our 2000, 2006 teams. This years team is special, with 2 more regular season games and the playoffs still to come so I'll re sever judgement until after the season.
But I will say of the "better" teams in our programs history.... This team has more offensive weapons, better special teams play and better defensive play than in years past.

Ok, I'm going to open this up for discussion. How many kids from JC that are in grades 7-12 have actually been held back during their school yrs. Let me say this before anyone bashes me. I do not have a favorite team even in the mix. Just curious as to what everyone in eastern ky has been saying about JC. So I am not making excuses or "whining, crying" about losing. I actually don't see a problem with it, but only if the kid is going to be 13 as a freshman. So with that being said, what are the facts. If it is a high number I am sure you all would agree that a kid that would have been in college got extra yrs. in middle or grade school. Especially if you have several. Can't you at least see what people would think about being a huge advantage. I realize the KHSAA says as long as they do not turn 19 prior their senior year, they are legal. But my question is if you have several, it could be a huge advantage for the team. Facts and numbers please. Thanks and good luck with a great season.
Sorry if this is duplicated. New at this, and I guess the moderator has to review 5 times prior to posting. Again sorry for duplications.

I'm pretty sure the Almighty Bluebirds barely squeaked out a 21-14 win just a few years ago with the potential game tying td being dropped in the end zone at the end of the game

How about the time it was 21-14 at game's end and a potential ge tying or winning TD pass hit the JC receiver right in the hands? And you know we would have gone for two, and gotten it. Don't think it can't happen, because it very nearly did.

All my life I have never been to politically correct, I am not from Ashland, but as circumstances have it I have an interest the program. So its like this
Ashland players, show some guts, do you want to be remembered as the team that did better than people thought you would or do want to be remembered as the team that pulled the upset and won the district crown? Until you hold yourself accountable to your teammates and coaches and stop worrying about how you look you will be second place. So I challenge you to go to war as a team and show the courage and guts to defend your home field. I challenge you to fight your tails off in every little battle, refuse to be blocked, refuse to miss a block, refuse to miss a tackle, refuse to make mistakes. The way I see it you are a team that is ok being 7-3 and district runner up. The way I see it you dont have the mental toughness to stand up to what is coming. The way I see it you have no substance its all superficial. I was raised to fight for everything that I thought was mine. Start believing this game belongs to you and fight for it. If I were a betting man, I would take Johnson Central because you are exactly what I described. So I dare you to prove me wrong. I dare you to feed me crow. I will be the first to admit I was wrong. I will even say it publicly using my own name.
Ashland fans, this isnt a golf match. I challenge you to get up off your rear and support this team. You see when its third and five and I look around no one is standing and yelling, no one seems to even know what the down and distance are. I challenge the fans to be a little crazy. Dont worry about me I will be standing.
If you want to be great then do something that is against all odds. If you want to be different win a game that you are not supposed to.
If you want to stay status quo you will get hammered because they are not coming to win they are coming to humiliate you. They dont need broken down old men to try and raise their intensity they smell the blood.
So there it is you decide how you want to be remembered. Dont leave it up to someone else.

This is why bakers carries were limited so he can be fresh this time of year. Ride our horse on offense and don't fall for all the trickery of the wishbone and belly offense and we should be in the game. JC will get there points no doubt. But we should be able to get some of ours as well

How come none of you bothered to answer this persons question????
It's simple, no one is so interconnected with all the kids that are in the program from grades 7-12 to correctly answer your question. That includes Coach Matney, whom I've never known to campaign the promotion or encouragement of holdbacks. 7th grade has their own coaches, 8th grade has their own coaches and the high school has their own staff. While these staffs are well acquainted with each other and speak, it's rarely outside of casual conversation. The coaches do not know all the kids' previous statuses prior to that particular level. All they are concerned with is, are they eligible by birthdays. Which I am 100% confident, they are all eligible.

Ok but I can tell you this... Remember a few years back, JC middle school participated in the state middle school football tournament ( so those kids should be around soph, juniors or perhaps seniors ) in high school now. So far so good? That team came and played at Lafayette HS. Early morning game in fact, so far so good sir? In fact If im not mistaken, JC fans were even placed on the home side of the stadium. So far so good Richard? I even got a chuckle when some of the JC fans ask the Lafayette grill guy if they would considered serving fried balogna sandwiches at their concession. Sure enough after that day, Lafayette HS did and stated to sell fried balogna sandwiches over thier grill. It was a hit to Lafayette fans. How do I know all these info... If you were at that game or any of you here ie. pulp, Bob segar, kygamenight or whomever.... I was one of the 2 in uniform presence that day ( figure it out ). So no I will not reveal you my name, nor my rank, nor what department I work for. And that my firend its the ONLY thing I know and have knowledge of Johnson Central. NOTHING else, but a football fan for life.

Without upsetting everyone, and saying I am looking for excuses and whining etc. I don't have a favorite team in this. With that being said, and looking at it open minded, how many kids that are in grade 7-12 have JC were actually held back in grade or middle school. And the question is, if it is a high number, wouldn't you all agree that it can really be a huge advantage in regards to age. Such as a 7th grader that gets an extra year at 7th, 8th etc. Then when they are in high school, the team actually gets a kid or several (as what has been said), that are what would have been in college, still playing high school football. Again just asking. I actually don't see a problem, but only if the kid would have been a 13yr. old freshman. Which is the case why some hold their kids back. Please only educated facts need reply on this. Not something like "whining, crying" just how many from 7-12th that have been held back during their school yrs. Thanks

I have read all kinds of things here on this thread. I can tell you one thing for certain and I am a JC fan.
JC is not counting on any running clock or worred about any new transfers. This will be a street fight for the District title. JC will coming respecting Putnam Field and Ashland. The know they will have to execute and win all the individual battles. The coaches have shown them what to do and look out for, but the players have to get it done on the field. I know this group of fine young men and they are not coming for a night off, they are coming for a street fight and to take the Disctict Title home!
