Will this be a running clock game? I say Cov Cath takes a trip back to the Brossart era. 49-14, running clock.

I think that highlands won't get the running clock but I do think Highlands will be too far ahead for Cov Cath to catch up.
49 - 28 Highlands.

Once HHS goes up 42-0 the running clock will start. Colonels will score a couple garbage TDs..

Highlands by at least 21. COV CATH put away an over rated JC team, but reality sets back in this week. Highlands made CovCath look silly earlier in the year and even with a few injured players back it will not keep them close in this game.

I don't know about that. Bir is one heck of a good RB and he didn't play the first game. With his replacement no where near as good, CovCath had no running game at all in the first game. As a result, CovCath had to throw the ball. Which meant a then very inexperienced sophomore QB had to shoulder the O. Result: little offensive production; the CovCath D on the field seemingly all the time; and many opportunities for Highlands' O to score.
With Bir back, CovCath's running game will be much better. That in and of itself will help the young QB when he has to pass because Highlands will have to honor the running game. Plus the young QB has picked up very valuable experience since the first game. Result: more points for CovCath's O and many less opportunities for Highlands O to score.
I expect a much, much closer game this time around.

As a supporter of private schools and as a critic of what has been done to our government schools by morons in Washington and Frankfort, I will root for Covington Catholic to pull off the upset. Obviously the crowd will be far larger than the crowd for the Ashland game so I recommend that we all arrive a bit early.

A little off subject here, but speaking of private schools, what ever happened to Rose Hill's attempt at a football team Harry? Seems like I heard it mentioned that you all were going to try to start a program a couple years ago up there? End up not having the numbers?

You may be right, Bir is a big help. Do not forget the SR Dressmen boy will be out which will really hurt them. You can always throw the regular season out the window with these two, but I just do not see Cov Cath keeping in this one. It will probably be closer than last meeting, but I still see a 21 point spread. This is always a fun week, I like many other HHS fans work with parents of Cov Cath kids.

Indeed so, Bob Seger. The desire was there and there were sufficient resources. The middle school football team had humiliated Ashland's middle school twice. It all looked possible. However, when it got down to business, there were only 13 prospective members for the team. Numbers are often the problem for private schools moving into football.
Then came the complaint to KHSAA from one of Rose Hill's close "neighbors" and, for all competitive purposes, the whole program ended. No one is passing the buck. Associates of Rose Hill were in violation of the rules. Although many break the rules, loose lips do sink ships.

Thanks Harry, I thought that there was indeed an attempt, but hadn't heard anything in a while about it. What about baseball? Any notions about resuming that?

Not likely. The numbers would be small and would have to include some middle schoolers. The interest among the members of the student body really doesn't exist. There will be a basketball team for both the boys and the girls and both will compete as members of KHSAA. However, the level of talent is similar to the school's teams back in the late 1980s. On the other hand, they are "loved" by the other area schools since they are no longer a threat.
