It is currently in bad shape. We have a lot of talent, but the fundamentals haven't been taught, especially at the middle school level. Coach Moore is starting to get some former players involved in the feeder system, so hopefully things will start improving. As a former player and fan, it is hard to grasp how far this program has fallen off. Good luck Friday night!!!!

Thanks again, hopefully Coach Moore puts it back together so we can see the Breathitt of old ASAP

Neither "elite" back was a factor in either game. The difference is that Central was good enough to win without Wales while Bourbon was not without Hopkins. Holman is just giving the Pirates a little more reason to hit him just a little bit harder.
By the time all the trash talking is done this week these players are going to have a genuine dislike for one another. Game could get a bit chippy if Bourbon can't stay composed. The Pirates won't normally start on field scrapes but they will finish them.
You would not believe that "twitter" posts that were hanging in rooms as motivation. The sad part was some of the "tweets" were from a coach from Louisville Central. An adult sending messages he had NO business sending!

I actually find some of the competitive banter between the two schools funny. A BoCo student posted an absolutely hilarious "redneck" photo saying it was our fans and a few of our students responded with a video of them jumping up and down in a truck bed shouting "yeeee haw!" with the caption "Just a normal Monday in Belfry." Nothing out of line, just kind of fun banter... I'm sure some idiot will cross the line though!

Share if you can, I would love to see both! I am like you, i hope the twitter activity is innocent banter between students and like you i think it is. I hope this game is as good as billed by both sets of fans. Should be a great game I think.

Some stat analysis of Bourbon:
Of their 41 takeaways, 20 of them are interceptions. The Pirates will try to control the pace of this game so there will be few opportunities for picks. They have caused nine fumbles and recovered a total of 21 of them. The Pirates can not put the ball on the ground.
Bourbon also likes to get to the QB with 12.5 sacks in the last 4 games. 5 against Mason, I do not see them getting that much pressure on Sani.
The Colonels average 50 pts a game. Of those 50 points ~38 of them are first half points. They are accustomed to putting a running clock on teams and coasting the second half. Will needing their first half studs in the second half have an impact on the shallow depth of this team as it did last year?
They control the ball well with only 3 fumbles and 6 picks on the year.
They are well disciplined only averaging 2 penalties a game.
A stat I am seeing that seems like it is nearly impossible is that
Bourbon Co only averages 3.3 first downs a game compared to Belfry's 25. Has Bourbon Co been so explosive all year that they have just ran and passed all over everyone putting up big numbers fast and relying on the running clock to finish the job? If needed can they put together late 3rd and 4th quarter drives? Have they faced a ball control offense that will push their defense to the limits when it comes to being physical for 4 quarters?
It looks the like the Colonels are just as flashy on paper as they were last year with some depth issues. It also appears they have not been tested and needed to sustain drives all year. They will need Belfry to make mistakes to win this game.

Im going to say 4, but not the whole time. All receivers play both ways (which isn't a big deal) and Holman plays both ways, but he usually sits every other series on offense. The D-line and rest of the LBs are all one way player

Or you could say that if what Bourbon County is doing works, and Belfry gets down early how will they catch up?
or
How will Belfry respond if Bourbon hits them with a couple of big play scores in a row. Is the offense deep enough to sustain a 14-15 play drive and have to get back on the field after only a couple of minutes rest and try to do the same?
A blind man could see that the colonels struggled up front all year last year ... (see garrard and Bath Co. games in the regular season) So far this year, they have not shown the same struggles. Will Belfry expose some weaknesses?

The only problem is Thanksgiving usually kills off some of the Semi_Final threads' momentum.
Typically they go strong M-W...then Thursday they die down a lot..
Speaking of which I will be travelling tomorrow and probably wont be on here until Sunday after... let me take this time in case I forget to sincerely wish everyone, Belfry and Bourbon alike, a Happy Thanksgiving and wish you safe travels wherever you may be going this week.

Don't know where you traveling to sweetheart, but be careful of the driving conditions. We had a bunch of snow last night..like 4", and a bunch of the kids were certain school would be cancelled today. Well, it turned into rain and melted everything. So school is in session with a bunch of tired young 'uns in attendance!! LOL
Happy Thanksgiving, EKUAlum!!
