Belfry @ Bourbon County (State Semi Finals)11/29/13
Any Bourbon games online to watch?
Belfry_99 Wrote:Any Bourbon games online to watch?

I'm sure there are highlights, I doubt there are full games...
HSFOOTBALL Wrote:Man a part of me wants to cheer a little for Belfry for if they lose, it sounds like life is over until next August! We can't have that guys, Coal keeps the lights on!!!

If Bourbon was to pull off the impossible by beating the Crimson Tide this weekend there will be a lot of crow eaten on Saturday and Sunday while I'm sopping up my turkey hash!!

Yes, coal does keep the lights on but I dont think our players are coal miners just yet anyway.

Has anyone ever said we were the Crimson Tide? Smile

Highlights
I am so ready for this game...I can't wait.

On a completely unrelated note, it may just be O'Mara and Pawsat but goodness gracious their QB's look good both size wise and fundamentally. O'Mara placed a perfect deep bomb early (maybe first play) against Bourbon and it was just dropped.
Another day closer guys and granny's. Lol. This game can't get here fast enough.
By the way, Congrats to Justin Johnson on surpassing the 1,000 yard mark. I believe that makes every year since 2009 a different 1,000 yard rusher (Varney, Pruitt, Willis, Carr, Johnson)
I don't know when the last time was that we did't have a 1000 yard rusher.

Every year I can think of since at least 2001 and there may have been one during the years Jonathan Wright played QB, too.

Been many moons ago but I would be surprised if Micah Caudill didn't have a 1k year or more, hard to remember the backfield all those years ago. Wright at one point in 98 or 99 had Caudill, RP Vipperman and my mind escapes me beyond that. I know Curtis Childress spent some time in the backfield in the Wright era as well.
Either school have the capability to launch drones?
I wish BGR would have hidden "Goals" or "Missions" like Call of Duty does.

When each thread reaches a new milestone, there is some type of banner awarded.

This thread could be the best HS Football thread all season.

Micah's freshman year may have been the only year he didn't reach 1K. He was the leading rusher in school history until his younger brother came along.
I think we've had 1,000 yard rusher every year but I meant since 2009 it's been a different guy. Whereas in 2008/2009 it was the same player.

He didn't as a sophomore either but he and Adam Eastwood were both real close to 1,000 yards.

Eastwood was the leading rusher but I'm not sure if he got to the 1,000 yard mark or not. Stats weren't really closely kept, but the Pirates threw the ball around a little but that year too.
I'm interested to see where Bourbon plays their corners. I'd say they will play them off, but #2 is just as fast as Keaton. Should be interesting to see where they line up.
Excuse me but Justin Johnson has rushed for a 1000 plus yd last three years people seems to forget and his Carrie rate is the lowest than anyone that is awesome

According to KHSAA stats, he has been over 900 as a sophomore and junior, but not over 1000. That is what is published by the KHSAA, which is a reflection of the stats provided by BHS. Excellent back and the Pirates need a big game from him on Friday just like he had this past Friday. You are correct about his yards per attempt. If I was a betting man I would say he is number one all-time at BHS in yards per carry with a representative number of carries.

Listen, I am going by what is posted on the KHSAA website. Why you think I would take ANYTHING away from one of the most exciting backs since my freshman year I do not know, but no one here gives Justin anything but a ton of credit for what he has accomplished.

I watched film too ... #2 is the fastest kid on the field for either team ... Hands down

Can you do me a favor man? Spell fast for me.

I'd bet on my #4 and #8 in any foot race on the field....plus our fast guys can take a hit and give a hit....from what I've seen The fast kids in maroon can't take a lick...but I'm sure they will be pumped up Friday...

Your way or mine?
I bet we will see a few more states' license plates at this game being Thanksgiving weekend. Virginia will be one other that is represented. You can count that as WV if you want since they were a part of Virginia so many years back. I have paid attention to BC's district for many years due to my sister ties to the community. My sister is also a former teacher of the BC head coach. She has nothing but good things to say about him and his family. They in turn also had a lot of good things to say about the Belfry Program and the respect that they received while on Pond Creek. This game will be a very fun game to watch and I am very excited about it now as I would be at any game at this level. No team gets to this point of the season without a lot of hard work, sweat and tears. One will walk away in defeat and the other will advance to play another game on a bigger stage. The game of high school football is so special for me and my family. I love the fact that I am a Pirate and will always value being part of such a big family. My daughter will never spend a day at Belfry High School; however, she understands what it means to be a Pirate. I will always pull for mountain teams no matter who it is; however, I cannot say that was the way I looked at it in my younger years. We can go back and forth on here about a weak schedule, less experience and any other statistic that we need to prove our individual points why one team will beat the other one. It is so great that we can talk all week and it means very little to the outcome of this game. That’s why they play the game. May the best team move on to BG and the other walk off the field with their heads up knowing that they had a great season to make it this far. Good luck to both teams and I hope everyone travels safely to and from the game. We are so lucky to be part of something gigantic in the lives of the young men that will play this game on Friday night.

I keep forgetting we're playing the Alabama where your DTs are as fast as our receiver who runs a 4.47. All hail Belfry! Roll Tide Roll!
Things which are important in this game:
1. Who blocks best
2. Who tackles best
3. Who controls the LOS
4. Who wins the turnover battle

The one thing which matters most:
1. Who scores the most points

Then you lied when you said you watched our film...lol...so now it's a 4.47 before it was a 4.39...do you guys even know how fast your fastest player is...the truck you saw in a video that has white lightning on it it's not for moonshine, it's because of the kid that drives it...lol
