McCreary Central 2014
#1
Thoughts and predictions for the Raiders in the 2014 season
#2
They have to get more bodies out. Very tough district to be mediocre in. I think they made some steps forward last year but their district is a beast.
#3
I felt like they improved all year last season. They have 20 freshman coming in next year. This group is the best group in quite a while. Look for good things in future. The Coaching Staff will work and that is a start.

The middle school program had good numbers, good success and talented players last year, if they stick with it and play through out their High School years, McCreary will have some solid young men to build around. It will take some patience and time, but the kids of McCreary can do it and build a program everyone can be proud of...schools to the North, West and East of McCreary County played for a state title this year. Can't see why McCreary can't be competitive at some point, they have a lot of talent in that county, if that talent starts getting excited about football and comes out McCreary football could be a force to be reckoned with! God speed M.C. Miss you young men and wish the best for you!!
#5
Hopefully they can keep their middle schoolers out and add to those every year.
#6
I believe they'll get the numbers in the upcoming years with tons of talent coming up. To much talent walking the halls to have losing seasons.

MERRY CHRISTMAS McCREARY CENTRAL FROM 64SUR. :truestory:

Just curious what kind of elementary program do they have in place that feeds into the middle school?

They have a 3-4 grade Team and a 5-6 grade Team that plays in the Whitley County league. Need to try and get a team in Pine Knot and one from Whitley City. Would have more kids playing. It's hard to get Coaches at this level.

so your grade schools play against Whitleys, are they competative at that level with the bigger schools. I know there is a lot of good athelets in that county and hopefully they can get it turned around

Yes, they are competitive in this league. Have won the league a few times and always in top 2 0r 3 teams in league. Problem Whitley has 7 or 8 teams in league and McCreary 1 Team, that is why I said we need 2 Teams in League one from Pine Knot and One from Whitley.
#12
More players in the weight room for strength and conditioning each day, glad to see a lot of players buying in to getting faster and stronger. GO RAIDERS!

Numbers is what they need

Spot on.
Whitley has 6 different elementary schools throughout the county and each school has there own 3rd/4th and 5th/6th grade teams. They started letting Mccreary play in the league about 7 or 8 years ago I think, and its all of MC's 3rd and 4th graders.
Im with you in that they need to split them into a Whitley City (which is in Mccreary County for those of you who im confusing) and a Pine Knot team.
The numbers would get better and it would only help the program.
MC made a great step in playing in Whitleys league, there not going to get any better by playing virtually no one, and to be in a league makes you competitive.

Love to see MC step up. They have to figure out how to get the kids out. 2 3/4th grades team in Whitley league would be the first step. Administration must buy in. Upgrading their facilities would be a big plus. Their district is a beast. They could be a pretty good football team and be a distant 4th in that district. It doesn't help being the red headed step child to basketball. AD being basketball coach is not conducive to success in football.

...make sure soccer stays the hell out of the county, too.

McCreary has Girls Soccer, doubt they could get enough boys to play anyway.

I used to think the same thing about certain areas.....choke it out before it gets started is all I know to say.

Not enough kids (the kids you need in both) in these smaller, rural-county school areas to support both adequately with the sports being in the same season.

I can't see McCreary starting Boys Soccer, we don't properly fund the sports we do have, except Boys Basketball.

AND how does that work out for you....Raider Rob, he of the one win season. and 23 losses. Not a great payoff for the investment.

You knew the answer before you ask the question  McCreary Central has not made it out of the District in Basketball since 2009.:eyeroll::eyeroll::eyeroll::eyeroll::eyeroll::eyeroll: You could say we are a real Basketball School.:eyeroll: IMO if you are not going to fund a program do away with it.:flush:

So now we should just give up on the football program because it does not get funded properly? Come on really? A lot of young men and coaches would disagree with that. UntilEveryone involved gets behind the program it will never take off, kids read this stuff on here and talk like this does them no good at all. Please mods take this thread down.

I'm not putting Football down. I'm stating a fact, if an administration does not want to fund a sport do away with it. I felt that way when I coached Football and I feel that way now. The kids need to play in a system that is supported and funded by the people in charge. Not in a system where they are an after thought by the people making the decisions.:notworthy:notworthy

If I have offended anyone close to McCreary Central Football, I apologize. That was not my intent. I have more time and probably more money invested in McCrary Central Football than anyone alive. I want it to be successful. I will continue to work to put the pieces in place for it to be successful and flourish in he future.

As much talent in McCreary as any county, I have coached football against their elementary schools and had several kids play aau basketball for me from McCreary County. Shame on you Donnie you are doing a piss poor job promoting the football program.

Cherokee, I agree not a real priority in his administration.:notworthy:notworthy but to be honest it has never been a priority in McCreary County and anyone who tells you anything else is blowing smoke or don't know what they are talking about. I've been there from the beginning and not many care!!!:eyeroll::eyeroll::eyeroll:

they can't blow smoke on me I know the talent level in McCreary and it as good as any, I went to school with most of the administration and they are not right when it comes to the football program. All I can say is it's a shame, MCH should be competitive with any 3 a school but if your leadership don't have faith how can you expect the kids to believe in themselves .

All of those 6' and under joe common white kids who focus on basketball only are getting snatched up all over the place aren't they? :biglmao:

Basketball fan here..close 2nd to football, but it makes me puke about the number of kids whose dads (or other relatives) are stuck in the 1960's thinking that college basketball coaches at any level are swarming these rural areas for 5'11 kids who are common as he11.

I look at the Mccreary Central job as the job that a coach could become famous with.
Take some of these "great" coaches around the state, put them at MC and let them implement there full ideas and fund them as well and see how many wins they get. If somebody turns that program into a winner quickly, he wont be there long unless Mccreary pulls out something ridiculous to keep him.
Personally, I think MC would be best fit to take a young coach, somebody like a Haddix and give them complete control. That's the only way to get the ball rolling. Ive seen some good coaches go over there and not be able to do anything at all.

Key Words: Fund Them, Let them implement Ideals, Upgrade Facility. All terms the Present Administration will not do!!!:popcorn:
