Coach mason got in trouble in 2002 over 12 years ago! and coach smith called us all in before school and told us first before the media released it and told us to focus on playing and explain to us that everyone makes mistakes and that coach mason would make this right and he did! I was there sitting in the meeting! Coach Smith taught us how men handle things that day! He taught us that none of us live in glass houses and should not throw stones!
Smith didn't release Mason during the regular season it happened after Boyle lost to Highlands in the state title game. once again PM me and I'll give you the name of the person who told me about it when it happened he was chairman of the school board at the time it happened and it was 2004 when it happened not 2002.

That's fine you shouldn't! Everyone has an opinion and we can agree to disagree!

But it's time for them all to go and time to bring in a young coach that has 2 years head coaching experience at a school that played in 3A with great athletes that he didn't develop!
I think you're way off base here. Describe Develop?
Snoop Johnson or Dalton Pope didn't play at Bourbon County until Hodge arrived. Johnson having not played football since Middle School, and Pope running the triple option at Nicholas County.
On top of that Holman was a sophomore who played sparingly as a freshman and Hill was a Freshman who transferred from Paris in Hodge's first year. If you were to name Bourbon's 5 best players, these would be 4 of them.
Add in the fact that Hodge, in two years time, took a mediocre run only team and converted them to a balanced attack who before Pope got hurt was on pace to run and throw for 3000 yards is pretty impressive.
If memory serves me right Hodge has 4 state championships himself, and if I'm not mistaken he was responsible for revamping the 2009 and 2010 defense that led Boyle to its last 2 state championships.

Hodge was a recievers coach at Boyle.

Yep.
I just heard he had a major play in revamping the defense in 2009 and 2010 along with Hester. May be completely wrong....

Boyle has and has had quite a few quality asst coaches. The cupboard is certainly not bare. Currently Mason (OC) 7 state titles close to 20 yrs exp, Hester (DC) 4 or 5 titles Ex HC, 25+ yrs exp, Goldsmith (DL) 2 titles, 30 + yrs exp, Perry (OL-DL) 4 titles EX HC 30 yrs exp, B. Mason (RB) EX HC 15+ yrs exp. not to mention several very good young assts Blair EX HC, Walker, Tamme, P. Mason.

As far as I know you are correct.

Hester runs the defense Hodge had nothing to do with the defense!

I heard the SW announcement will be made tomorrow. Can anybody confirm this?

The major change on defense was Lamar Dawson!

IMO Chris Cook was as just important to that defense as Lamar was Chris was a beast in the state game against Lone Oak.

Pretty close diehard. Chuck Smith's last year (2004) dressed for picture day was 63 players. As the season went on that number declined, but 63 started the year playing football.

Jack Lambert Wrote:Larry French had 89 players his first year at Boyle not counting 5 freshman players on the roster last year he had 45 players total on the roster you don't have to take my word for it Go to the KHSAA website and see for yourself and I know for a fact Smiths last year Boyle dressed over a 100 players 9th thru 12th grade. I tried to look it up on the website but they didn't have a roster listed for his last season. I know what I'm talking about when it comes to BCHS football. once again IMO interest is down in the Boyle county school system for football the numbers show it, and there are reasons why.as for Smith releasing Mason PM me and I'll give you names of people to go ask who know.
Here's the roster from the State Final in 2004.

Hodge is young and a good talker. Apparently a lot of other people do some good talking for him too. He has done a good job at Bourbon. The program has continued its upward movement that started before he got there. He deserves credit that he hasn't crashed the sip. Many coaches would have crashed the ship. However he is not in the same league as French, Hester, and Mason.

Numbers don't lie I'll man up and admit I was wrong about the numbers on Smiths last roster.

Not sure what you mean by a "good talker," but I think the argument could be made that Hodge has done more than maintain the program.
Isn't he something like 26-2 in two seasons at Bourbon?

Zach Hester was a monster at Linebacker. Don't forget him.

You know what gets on my nerves? When someone has visual evidence in front of them of what I said but they say that I said something else. Could you please generate the post where I said Hodge has maintained the program? I'd like to see that.

If this is what you are referring to I'm not even seeing the word maintain in there.

I really don't want to get into an argument about semantics, but your post implies that he is not responsible for the upward arc of the program. "He deserves credit that he hasn't crashed the ship" seems like a backhanded compliment, at best. Along with the comment about being a "good talker," it just seems as if you don't really value Coach Hodge's contribution to a program he has turned into a championship contender over his two seasons. As far as comparison to French, Hester, and Mason: well obviously he is nowhere near as accomplished as Coach French, but Mason has never been a HC, as far as I know. Hester was place into a pretty difficult position as a HC, so I don't think it is fair to evaluate his 4 (I think) years at Garrard.
If that wasn't your intent, then I apologize. At any rate, if French leaves, I don't know why Boyle wouldn't be interested in bringing in Hodge.
At any rate, all of this is moot if SW doesn't close the deal with French. Any news on that front?

French will be introduced as Pulaski Southwestern's Coach Monday!!!!

I think the only possible is Blair. I think everyone else is pretty much locked in. Blair is a very good young coach.

I know I've made the statement that it was time for a change at Boyle, but now that it may become reality it's a scary propisistion to think of what might be if Boyle doesn't make the right hire if French does leave.
