footballfever Wrote:Great, Whitley averages 21 points a game last year. Gave up 42.!

now all they need to is hire Mike Ditka for defensive cooardinator.

PRIDE101 Wrote:This is a good hire. he will put points on the board. Congrats Coach. Does anyone have the schedule?

I'd like to see the schedule too.
#63
Then Whitley County needs to let him hire a Def. guy. That is Administration, does he get to hire someone? What kind of support will they give him? Are they going to go the full distance?
#64
Coach Chappell is a great coach and will take this team far. This was a great hire for Whitley and best of luck to him in the upcoming season. Middlesboro will regret losing a coach like this.

I'm interested to know the answer to that question myself.

As of now the schedule is same as last year except Morristown East replaces West which is a bad trade off cause East beat West by about 4td's last year.

This is a great hire. If he can get some help on the def. side of the ball, he can go 5-5 and that is a victory in itself. It will take time and there are a lot of factors. Support is very important. Getting kids out to play and assistants to help. They have a very good schedule. Congrats Coach Chappell and best of luck.

Jim Black would have gone at least 5-5 this year if he had not been swamped with injury after injury after injury. So is 5-5 a big deal?

Wow!! That's not a schedule friendly for rebuilding, that's for sure.

Whitley was 1-9, bottom line. I was not talking about this past year. 5-5 at least, could be better next year. It depends on the support he gets. That schedule is very good. Whitley County fans, if you want a team that you can be proud of give him support and time.
#72
That is definitely a brutal schedule!
#73
Early prediction would be 3-7.

I think definite losses are:
Morristown West
Madison Southern
Harlan Co
Boyle Co

I think they probably lose to Knox and Bell too.

Perry Central and Letcher will be tough, but I feel like they should beat Rockcastle and Clay.

There is not a guaranteed win in the schedule though, and that makes it tough!

they could beat Knox and Bell.they played Bell close last year and beat Letcher. there is never a guaranteed win.

most of Whitley's points came in the 4th quarter last year, after the game had already been decided, against the opponents 2nd team defense.:eyeroll:

(If you take out the bad Rock and Clay records its 62-33)

As far as I know, Whitley signed the two year deal to go down to Morristown. If its true, we'll do like Harlan County did and play the opposite team this year which would be East. It also sets us up to only play 4 home games this year.

Don't speak on something that you really don't know anything about.... You were busy Cheering on the Jackets....err at least one Jacket. Till you start spending four quarters watching the game, probably need to hold your tongue.

The Morristown game was 13-6 at the half and they scored one TD just secoonds before half time.
Madison Southern Blow loss scored one late.
Bell was a close game the whole game. Never subbed down.
Rockcastle a game they should have won. Never subbed down.
Clay County a game they had a chance to win late. Never subbed down.
Knox Central a close game throughout. Never subbed down.
Perry Blow out loss, WC never scored late.
Harlan big loss, WC never scored late.
Letcher County Central. Lone win, never subbed down
Boyle County Crazy start subbed but made no difference.

You didn't beat Rockcastle last when when we sucked, why would you think you will beat us this time. We have almost everyone back plus a 600 lb dead lifter.
Put this game in the loss column for Whitley.

I really don't think so but that would also imply teams could have scored more.
I really doubt you saw 1 whitley game last year:yawn:

when you sucked? lol. Did you not realize most of Whitley County's team was injured?
#85
They are trying to buy out the Boyle game. Schedule will soften with Jim gone.

Buying out is easy. Finding someone to replace is the hard thing.
