Simply asking questions. Would you care to answer some of them or should we wait for someone else to do it?

He needs to add a little size and strength, but what football player doesn't? Spencer Pangallo, Curtis Sudkamp and Cole Carmack should all be solid contributors as sophomores, where they play is anyone's guess, but they will be on the field. S Pangallo could be extremely effective at tight end if that's where the coach's decide to put him. The oline should be solid with 3 starters returning in Hoover, Wieland and Neff. There is plenty of talented underclassman to fill in the other positions, so that should be fun to watch.I'd also put up coming sophomore #63, Tyler Brooks on that list. He's got size and talent, 6'1" 270#. He was one of only 2 freshmen brought up to play in a few JV games last season. He started as the center and also played some D-line. He's the brother of leaving senior #55, Stephen Brooks, who will be playing college ball for the Union Bulldogs upon graduation.

Tyler (cheeseburger) Brooks could absolutely help. He doesn't quite have his brothers heart or work ethic, but if he decides to put the hard work in, he could be a force. Congrats to Steve Brooks on union. Was the only team captain I thought hands down deserved it, leader on and off the field. If brooks could have stayed healthy, I honestly believe he would have been NCC's best lb and hands down best o-lineman. he was a beast in the Ashland and cooper games at lb before hurting his shoulder. Was relegated to just offense to try and keep him healthy. Played really well late in the title game against desalles at lb when he got out back in. As you can see, I have absolutely nothing but admiration for this great young man. NCC will miss him.

wow, better than Sudkamp? Never really saw the Brooks kid play but Sudkamp was great when I saw him.

He played both ways his junior year and center his sophomore year. Would he have been better than Sutkamp, maybe not, we may never know, but if Brooks would have been injury free all year, he would have given Sutkamp a run for his money. Brooks gave more of himself to the NCC team, than any player I've seen. Very dedicated young man. He will do well at Union.

Not trying to put the Brooks kid down. Hope he does a great job at Union. As you said it wasn't till later in the year that I saw them play and I thought Sutkamp was awesome.
02-16-2014, 03:15 AM
Sutkamp is a beast, there's no denying that! He is an awesome player, Georgetown is lucky to get him. He and Brooks will actually be playing college ball against each other in the fall. Brooks not only played linebacker, but he also played some on the defensive line. On offense he played center, guard and tackle, basically wherever they needed him to play. Not sure that any other kid on NCC team, or any team, played in as many positions as Brooks did. He's a very versatile player. That's what makes him a special player. He had injuries the last 3 seasons, including 2 this past session alone. Not sure too many kids could play with the tenacity that Brooks did, with the injuries that he had. He made many sacrifices for his team, and I'm sure he wouldn't have it any other way. Not trying to make him out to be a saint or the best player out there, but he deserves to be recognized for his high school career and his talent. Recognition that he didn't receive, throughout the year from the media and forums like this. He was a team captain and made 4 different all star teams. Not bad for a kid from Dayton. Congrats Brooks and best wishes at Union.

A lot has changed in 2A since the last time you guys were in it.

You better be thankful you haven't been in 2A the last few years. Mayfield would have zero state titles in the last 4 years. Becareful what you wish for......

This is just your biased opinion neither of us knows for sure wether they would or wouldnt have won a title mayfield is nobodys punk i think they would have made a good account of themselves but no way of knowing if they would have won at least one or not i personally respect alot of 2a schools ncc especially but its comments like these i find ridicolous do u really think mayfield would have had zero chance of being competitive in 2 or 3 a

I'm a big NKY fan myself but don't know if I agree with that statement. The Mayfield teams with the Jackson kid were tough. Think they would of held their own and maybe won a couple especially Jackson senior year.

fair statement im still scratching my head trying to figure out how the 11 team lost to hazard im not sure if mayfield would have won this last year i thought since about week 3 it was desales year but glasgow gave them all they wanted somerset gave ncc a great game i though desales would beat ncc worse so i was impressed with ncc dont kmw much about 2a teams except caldwell was just curious with what ncc will be this year caldwell co is loaded at skill positions but lost most of there o line there defense was there achilles heel this year seen that in the mayfield game and it never improved like mayfields defense did murray ran the ball down caldwells throat and ate the clock and the wind didnt help the qb either caldwell returns the d line but lost all linebackers but the defense wasnt good anyways

I have to agree with nkyff91 and colt pride concerning Mayfield. The talk that Mayfield would have been the champ in all other classes besides 1a is funny to read, but would only happen in a fantasy league. I saw the Murray/ Caldwell game and the outcome was a complete disappointment , but not surprised . Caldwell's only chance of winning last year was to out score teams because their defense was awful. To think could have beaten either ncc or desales is outrageous because Murray was not a good team. I see the same thing happening this year with desales representing the west.

whats funny is people saying mayfield could not compete with the 2a and 3a schools i never said they would have won the title although i think they would have won 1 anyways its not mayfield fans that says they would have won 2 and 3a its the same thing every year a new 1a team makes it to state there fans talk smack and say there team is all that then they get a running clock put on them then they say no shame in losin to mayfield cause they would win 2 and 3a then yall get on here and attack mayfield when it wasnt even there fans that said it not sure why yall have no respect for mayfield they have faired just as well with beechwood as ncc but you are entitled to your opinion plus it makes it fun i think thats why 55 has talked alittle smack guess we will find out soon enough if mayfield can compete or if they will be a doormat in 2a like yall seem to think
02-19-2014, 09:55 AM
^I'm not saying Mayfield will be a door mat and never have. 55 likes to stir the pot a little and that's ok, that's what this site is for. All I'm saying is, be glad Mayfield has been successful in 1a without trying to tarnish the accomplishments of the other state champs. The Mayfield players and fans are going to find out real fast if they can compete or not, but again, be careful what you wish for.
02-19-2014, 10:19 AM
Do I think Mayfield will compete in 2A? Absolutely! I don't think anyone is implying that they won't. I think what we are saying is that Mayfield won't have the cakewalk to the finals that they are accustomed to in 1A. Mayfield has a great program. They do things right. I just think it will be a much tougher road for them.
02-19-2014, 01:04 PM
back on topic how do yall see ncc being this year compared to last stronger about the same or taking a step back who else is supposed to be trending up hear somerset will maybe take a step back what about cal glasgow or desales i could see caldwell in the semis murray lost boone who was big for then and there coach has left dont know much about union co or o cath they would be the biggest threats to caldwell cause think murray will take a step back who will be the east favorite and who will be favorite in west out of the 3 mentioned to possibly meet caldwell in semis
02-19-2014, 01:40 PM
I think it will be NCC from the East again. I think the West once again is a free for all. I can see Caldwell, CAL, DeSales, Glasgow, all fighting for the West. I know speaking from DeSales, that we lost Byrd, and Roush. 2 great players. But we have a lot of talent across the board coming back. We have put together great incoming classes the past several years. We dress a lot of players, and have a lot of competition for spots. There's a reason St X has been down a few years. A lot of those kids that would have been going there are coming to DeSales. We have a great staff, and great kids with football IQ's, and attitude. We dressed 82 last year. Will be about the same this year. I love our direction as a program, and the dedication and support that the alumni, and school are 100% behind our team. I really like our chances again this year.
02-19-2014, 02:24 PM
82 is insane caldwell dressed around 75 or more this last year but there numbers will eventually fall everyone is on the bandwagon now but after this next season they will lose quite a few star players and will take a big step back plus they will struggle in 3a when they get there and people will jump off the bandwagon once they get back to reality they had there bihest crowd in history when mayfield visited in a out of class regular season game it was there championship since mayfield is held in such high regard in this area the win for caldwell gave them a false sense of security imo looks like desales could be the team for years to come i seen st x when they came to marshall co in 07 marshall had a pretty good team but they made marshall look horrible with a 65 to 0 win

I think it will be NCC from the east again, but the P-burg people would want to have a say in this. NCC returns quite a bit, but no real super star. They're coached well and the kids feed off of one another so it makes good chemistry. Like any other team qb seems to be the question mark. Anderson had a good freshman year and a solid jv season so look for good things from him. The oline and defense will be good but they won't have a couple of 6'5 receivers running around and creating mismatches. The first game of the year should be the tell tale of how good the defense is because they face Baker from Ashland who is a d1 recruit at running back.

I think that Jake Smith has the chance to become a super star, if he stays healthy. If he can get the ball in space, or get matched up w/ lbs in the passing game, it will make them a tough offense to stop.

He could be a stud. A few things first, he needs to dedicate himself to the weight room, put the team first and learn the play book. If he does these few things, smith could be one of the best players in NKY.
I've said it before, for NCC to dominant, a QB will have to be found. It Was a weak spot last season, could be again this year unless gray is given a shot. Franzen could have dominated at WR. Enslen is the only player I feel that has a WR spot locked up. The offensive line was a joke last season, should be a strong point this year. Too many injuries and players quite frankly, didn't play to their potential. If Wieland and brooks stayed healthy all year, my opinion would be different.
The defense overall, should be better than last seasons. Keus and Lawrence will be studs as juniors. Hoover could have a big year at DT as well. Enslen and smith at corner could be the best combo in NKY, maybe in the state. The LB's will absolutely be better, was a huge weak spot last season. Replacing sutkamp and lyon will be a tough task, they are two of the better defensive players NCC has had. Keus and tallon should make the transition pretty easy though.

Really? I sure hope that the kids and parents at NCC certainly do not read this garbage. You talk as if NCC was awful last year and yet they made it to the state finals. Sutkamp will be tough to replace, Lyon not so much. Nice rip job on Jacob Smith. According to you everywhere was a weak spot, so how did the Breds make it to the finals again? I guess you will tell me that it was all in the coaching, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Some good players you mention, but best in the state is a very big exageration.

I don't think he ripped on Smith at all. He simply gave his opinion on what he believes Smith needs to do to be more productive. Where's the downside to that? If you don't get good grades what's your teacher tell you to do? Study? Apply yourself more? It's obvious you have an axe to grind and that's ok, but offer some alternative view points instead of referring to comments as "garbage". One thing totally obvious about your comments are you ask questions to troll and then go after something/someone you don't like. You state you don't know much about the team, obviously that's no true or else you wouldn't name players.
