Harlan County 2014
Yep, Baby Zak won the board drill championship.

Smile
I saw him. Was Russell's 1st experience there. As the linemen part of the camp Harlan and Hazard pretty much stole the show in my opinion. From the side I was sitting on Harlan looked very good. If I'm not mistaken you baby Zak came close to injuring one of the participants. Future looks bright at our fellow Eastern Ky schools.
I'm "liking" your comments about eastern Kentucky football. Lord, injuries make me a little sick; hope the kid is okay. Zak wanted to sit in my lap the other day so I could scratch his back; my legs went numb.
Haha no the boy either from Conner or Hazard eventually got up after trainers checked him out. I believe the Zak boy was or at least looked concerned about the other boys well being. Very classy.
Not Conner but Danville

Some of us are just a little superstitious. Confusednicker:

I don't do ANYTHING until after summer vacation. I'll do that avatar in early July!! Promise!!
HC finished up June workouts today. Any updates on how things are going so far? I was thinking about running backs and we will have a few to turn to, some younger than others but I forgot about Hunter Lewis. Since the school opened we have always had that back that could get us 3 hard yards when needed and Hunter might be next in line. This kid is a beast and a very hard worker. Granny do you have a June report card so far from Baby Zak?
I know he's working very very hard.....at practice, at weight lifting and at home. He's very pleased with the attitude of this team and their work ethic; so that's a great starting point.

He won't say a whole lot about individual styles yet, and their talent level.

We go on vacation next week, so I plan to have a captive audience. I will grill him!!! And report to you later.

Is harlan county supposed to be that much better this year. I keep hearing belfry will be just as good as last year, but granny bear thinks they will beat belfry. Im just curious what is supposed to be so different with the black bears this year that will make them that much better and close the gap that there was last year. Didnt belfry beat them like a red headed stepchild.

Belfry didn't beat the brakes off Harlan County last year per se... but the Pirates were extremely green under the gills at that point and won pulling away late on HCHS's home field in a playoff-esque environment.. Johnson Central was the team who really put in on the Bears.

Granny loves her Bears and has faith in them. I think deep down she knows how tall of a task Belfry will be at CAM Stadium, but you have to admire her confidence and faith.

She is also an adopted member of the Belfry fanbase,, even driving to Bourbon County to pull for the Pirates... so part of it is her just having fun talking smack with her friends on here. Kind of like the friendly banter you have at the office or with a friend who pulls for your rival. Belfry fans welcome Granny with open arms and enjoy the give and take with a ton of respect.

Very eloquently and accurately said, EKU, as usual. Thank you.

It appears that I get under your skin killbilly; and I don't even try to do it either. In the first place nobody beat us like a red headed stepchild last year; however JC came close. There were "outside" issues that added to that defeat. But since I don't make excuses, I never spoke of them. They have since taken care of themselves. I'm very excited about the Black Bears this season because my youngest will be a Senior. This will very likely be my last "devoted" year to Black Bear football. That's good and bad at the same time. I will miss seeing those games every Friday night, but I will be starting Saturday football, too. I'm excited for the college experience.

As far as Belfry is concerned, I was amazed at how similar our fan bases were. I tried to hate Belfry, I really did, but each fan I met at that game, I liked better than the last. They are such genuine folks who support their kids with a huge passion. I like that!! Actually, I love it!! Too many kids participate in academic meets and athletic events without the support of either parent. Both Black Bear and Pirate parents appear to be there for their kids; I think that's more commendable than I can explain.

And speaking about explaining, I don't really have to explain what I do or feel or think to you or anyone else. I would NEVER post on a public forum negative comments about my team or any of the players.

I look forward to the Harlan County game with Belfry. It will be a slobber knocker, and I will get to visit with folks that I have come to love very much.
So i guess there isnt any answer that would explain why harlan would take a big step forward. I expected to hear what positions were young last year that would improve to close the gap.
It's Harlan County. And what big step forward that we are taking that you want explained?

If you want to see the young positions from last year, check us out on maxpreps.
Leave granny alone. She knows her football and she def knows Harlan Co. Football. She knows that any given Friday anything can happen and she knows as we all do that the Harlan co. And belfry game will be another good one. She doesn't have to explain anything.
We will have some bear traps set when you come to pond creek. " Belfry's D "
geez i thought this site was to gain knowledge about teams that i know little about. Im glad i didnt ask the next question i had.
I'm glad you didn't, as well.
Yes belfry beat the brakes off them I guess some bears are still living in the cub days Smile
Last I checked 9 points (21-12) is hardly beating the brakes off!

I'm clueless about how this years Black Bear team will turn out. Lost our QB, WR/RB/DE, FB/LB,RB/S, some good linemen, and this years projected RB transferred. But I'm hearing the line will be strong with Baby Zac anchoring and that means a lot. Plus I'm very confident in what Tom Larkey and his staff can do.

I think it will be interesting me to see how they are this year as well. There are a lot of questions about them it seems to me.
Thr rockets are training tough, best year imma tellin ya
If Granny Bear says it. believe it.
It will be a slobber knocker just like Granny says, we were very young and green last year and came out with the Win..Now it seems the tables have turned and we have the expierience and the Bears are young...So in my eyes the same thing can happen to us...If we don't come together and play ball then the Bears can pull it out just like we did...I'm looking forward to this game...and I get to see my Hot mama Granny Bear..lol

Anything can happen on any given night...especially Friday nights!! Like Patriot said, I have all the faith and confidence in the world in Tom Larkey and our Black Bears! Our break through RB just might even be Patriot's nephew!!

:lmao:
Go Black Bears. Lord help me mysonis55 will follow me over the mountain and step in a bear trap. Confusederiously:
I have much respect for Tom Larkey and Harlan County football but this year has the biggest question marks in my opinion. This might be the best offensive line ever there and that is saying a lot but who is going to be that stud running back especially since Massey is gone? Also huge holes to field defensively. Lost both linebackers and the secondary has always been suspect plus they lose both defensive ends. I think everybody needs to let HC grow cause this could be a long year.
