Mayfield @ Beechwood 11/28 1A Semi Finals
mysonis55 Wrote:As usual, when you get up on a team 4 scores, you tend to Jack Haskins a bit. That is take the foot off the gas pedal. You do a little tinkering and substituting and when the comeback starts and the momentum changes, it's hard to stop.

I think I could get big gains on this team around the edges.

I hadn't heard a game breakdown, so Mt. Healthy got 4 scores up on Beechwood at one point? I agree on the outside, their defense is pretty slow as well, I was more impressed with Russellville's D.

Yeah, it's funny how the phone didn't auto correct that post.
In the past 4 meetings, in 3 of those, I feel Mayfield had the superior team with only the 2011 game being pretty evenly matched. The other 3 were no less than 21 point wins and in a couple of those, I think the score could have been worse. This years game has a lot of similarities to the 2011 game with Beechwood having a very solid line, great RBs and WRs and a QB who could throw the ball. Mayfield has a sophomore QB, same as 2011, who has managed the offense well, but, not yet completely taken control of the team and they have a game changing RB in Bright, like they did with Jackson in 2011. The difference this year is the games at Beechwood, which I do think was a factor in 2011, being at Mayfield. With all that being said, this time of year has always been the time the Cards seem to find there groove and be playing its best football. I feel that'll be the same this year, so, it'll come down to who makes the least mistakes from a penalty and turnover standpoint. If Mayfield holds there own in those 2 categories, I think they'll squeeze out a win, if not, it could turn in Beechwoods favor. I will say this is the best chance the Tigers have had in the last 5 games they've played. The deck seems to be tilted toward the Tigers this year, but, until they actually beat the Cards, I got to go with them. There D is solid and will keep them in the game and I think there O is good enough to get a few scores.. Mfd 24 Bwd 20
No way the Tigers score 3 touchdowns.
caverna scored 24 on us 55, so why couldnt beechwood.

Were you at the Caverna game? Then you would seen them score on 2 crazy plays and a breakdown on a kickoff with a freshman. I guess anyone can score on crazy plays.
I guess if it's a full moon again that could happen.
Beechwood defense :pondering: just thinking.
Mayfield is gonna have to play lights out no doubt, gotta make a statement in this game. Gonna have to play clean and mistake free ball, We usually get some decent refs for this game so I am not too worried about calls. Beechwood is gonna have to have a passing game to pull this one out, that is for sure. I think our defense has the answer for a team that depends on long drives, the question is, does beechwood have the defense to stop the big plays? I don't think so.

I was there. I just do this for good luck. The last time I told 55 that Bethlehem would score may field held them scoreless, then on top of the west predicted a dismantling of russellville, and it happened. I figured I might as well continue the trend, since I was proved wrong on both occasions. I don't mind being the village idiot, and proved wrong, as long as mayfield gets the w.

I feel sorry for Beechwood. They have no idea what just rolled into their town tonight. It wasn't a Hostess Cupcake, but it is hungry. Going where no Mayfield team has gone before: Three-Peat!
