I am, admittedly, not as close to the program as I'd like to be though as you can probably tell from my location. JumperPride1 would probably be the go to guy on the players coming up. I do know that the 8th grade team either last year or the year before should have won state in their division but were disqualified from the playoffs due to playing a player for a couple games that was a week or two too old, or something of that nature.
The middle school has been pretty successful. They had a great team last year but were ineligible for post season play for the reasons Ro described, however I believe the kid had been cleared and then they went back on it. As far as recent middle school history they're usually very competitive sans a couple years, but the problem is they are often in a position where they have to play 7th graders up in order to get the balance they need, hence some classes may look great in middle school but they're actually two classes merged. The senior group that Somerset just lost was a group that had some good top end talent, but had zero depth and that was an issue for them in middle a school as well. The khsaa will be taking over middle school sports in the near future and that is a good thing.
The 2014 Jumpers suffered from a number of issues, youth, inexperience, tough schedule... I think all of those things compounded and they really struggled as a result. I think it's safe to say they will be better in 15 but how much better is yet to be seen. I do know they've worked very hard in the off season and that is half the battle. I'll stick to my guns that the group of skill guys they have now could collectively rival some of the great groups that have been here historically, but the line play really has to come along in order to see a major change in the short term. Time will tell.

Same kids as last year? Or new skill coming in?

Same kids. Josh Cornett was selected as a freshman all american for the army under armour game, his brother isaiah is an outstanding athlete, Doan, hatcher, and a slew of others. The potential is there I'll say that. They were all freahman and sophomores outside of hatcher last year and they've all had a good off season.

So the O line may be a weak spot this year?
04-09-2015, 11:27 PM
Not a good sign for the Doan kid! Statistically he has averaged over a 100 yards a game by khsaa. Looks like he may be injury prone due to only playing 11 games in 2 seasons. His stats looked really good at SW as he was their leading rusher and receiver through 5 games, Cornette had a statistically very good freshman year also. I'm off work this week with a lot of time on my hands! ☺

Technically, when a team has just finished 0-10 (and their JV team has finished winless, as well), all "spots" can be accurately characterized as "weak" until proven otherwise.

The o line returns 3/5 of their starters from last year, they'll be better.

Way to be positive! I can't figure out if you are a jumper fan or disgruntled ex-coach and/or player?!?!

LOL, probably all of the above. My bad. Happy thoughts. Jumpers will be fine.

That would be quite a turn around. Don't think they will be that good. 7-3 and a good playoff run.

They make it to the 3rd round this year, then next year they make it to the finals.

Was able to catch some of their spring training today. Numbers were pretty good considering baseball and track are competing. First thoughts: they were only in helmets because of new KHSAA regulations which was a little disappointing, o line looks vastly improved. They all look much much stronger. The skill, as expected, looked really good. Jordan Doan, hatcher, Cornett boys can all fly. Don't know what the ceiling is for this group but there was no ego on the field today. 0-10 is a humbling experience apparently because they were all flying around and trying to do what is asked of them. Doesn't look like the same team on the field this spring as oppose to last fall. New offensive coordinator, former head coach at Caverna and lifelong jumper Lucas ford has rejoined the staff and will help tremendously. Overall I was pleased with what I caught today, looks like they are heading in the right direction... Nowhere to go but up!

And yet you still feel the need to post on Jumper threads... Good luck after Hall graduates... You all were 0-2 without him last year just remember that.

It's posters like you that make me wish posters would have to use real names. I will not group you with other Pulaski fans because it's obvious you are a classless moron not a Maroon! Take the "short bus" back to the thread you started about pulaski. You obviously have some issues that make you act this way, maybe you come up a little "short/small" in "certain areas" and this is how you build your self esteem. You are a class act!

Other than sitting in the stands what role did you play in the winning of this state championship you keep brining up? Just curious.

Self-esteem.
Your obsession with degrading Somerset is not healthy nor is it productive to either team. Last I checked there were 5 more state champs besides Pulaski and you will not find one fan of said teams belittling other teams like you are Somerset! I hope you're just immature but if not I believe you need some psychological help! At the end of the day it's kids playing a game and those kids grow up and hopefully become productive members of society and just may be they will have learned something on the field that helps them succeed in life no matter what their record was/is in High School!
There's always that guy at your 10 year reunion still wearing his Letterman jacket and sporting the mullet while constantly reliving the Glory Days! Then at the end of the night you have to give him a jump to get his 88 mustang started and he is waiting for the 20 year reunion to be relevant again! Don't be that guy!

Who said anything to the contrary? This thread may as well be deleted. Maroon Champs team earned the right to gloat, why it is at the expense of someone else who they never ever play in the playoffs I have no idea. It's interesting that they still seek validity in a Somerset thread, although I'm speaking about the minority Im sure. Surely pulaski has bigger fish to fry.

You're right. I'm having a difficult time wrapping my brain around his extreme dislike of the Somerset program. Maybe...just maybe...is goes back as far as his childhood. A rough encounter with a rascally rabbit perhaps??
