Great win for North Laurel! Took over in the 3rd quarter after a big KO return by the Bears. Jags get a stop on 4th and short. Didn't look back after that. Bears have some nice skill players, but they didn't get enough touches

Congrats to Jags.

Very impressed with Qb McWhorter and Rb Nelson tonight against Harlan County. :worthy:

It time to start playing some competition.. Not to take way from kids and the win, but Harlan is the best team they've played and when you talk to Harlan co people, they are down...
09-25-2015, 01:42 PM
Who is their final game? They should win their district games easily.
09-25-2015, 02:01 PM
Their remaining games are..
Whitley County away
Letcher County Central home
Perry County Central away
Montgomery County home

The whitley co game on the road could be interesting. North is better but it is at whitley. Montgomery co last game of the year will be a pretty good test.

Had to leave at the half and finish up listening. I will give Harlan County credit. They played to win until the final horn sounded. Onside kicks that weren't recovered gave North a couple of short fields late and they took advantage. Outcome was pretty much decided before those but the Bears didn't quit. North is a good team. A good team, not great. I see the schedule not testing them and that will limit their development. It'll be a lot of fun for the fans and players, and a "record book" achievement for the program, but I just don't see a lot of post season success. Just an observation and I'm wrong as much as I am right. The rest of the season will tell the story.

Good chance to be 11-0 waiting on SW or Pulaski at home in second round.

Congrats JAGS!! Just keep the "TEAM WORK" up and keep doing what your doing!! The most important game now is Whitley Co. I love the way everyone keeps throwing water on us. Great bunch of hard working kids that have a great bunch of coaches!! One game at a time!!! No buts about it, Haters gonna hate!!!

It ain't all hate. You can only play the schedule you have and every team would love to be undefeated regardless who they have played. It is a great accomplishment. Most comments being made are just opinions about the level of competition. When the teams you have played are a combined 4-27 and, besides Harlan County, the teams that your opponents have played haven't set the world on fire themselves, it's a fair point to question. I'm sure they're great kids and coaches and work hard, but that has nothing to do with the strength of schedule discussion. This is a discussion board, and it's a very valid point of discussion.

I didn't know the game was last night or I could have made it after work,
Why on Thursday
I rea all this stuf about playing a tough schedule to be ready for district and playoffs and look at who Harlan co has played and it's tough, but it didn't help them last night
Not sure how good the teams are north has played but historically they are pretty good, I know mason used to be real good and was real good last year
And by looking at Norths sched they are doing what good teams do to average teams, beat them
I do remember when north was a doormat for everyone and now all of a sudden they get success and get bashed
Agin why on Thursday and not Friday

Like has been brought up before about their schedule, NL can not help they were taken out of that strong district, that was not of their doing! Some games I am sure were set up before they knew of the change. Also who has a magic ball and can see from one season to the next who is going to be a strong contender and who isn't?? Kids move in, kids get stronger and come on thru the off season. Who knew all 6 teams they have played they could beat like they have? Plus Harlan if you were at the game was not a Patsy. They had a good QB and skill players! None of the teams North has played rolled over and played dead. NL continues to play well, and get much needed experience that will only help them down the road. That is what I see from my cheap seats!!

When I am wrong, I take my crow breaded and deep fried and eat it with a smile. People have all kinds of opinions about scheduling and they're all right in the eye of the beholder. I disagree somewhat on not being able to determine who will be strong and who won't. Occassionally you get surprised but most of the time you have a pretty good idea of how strong teams will be, based on who and how many they return, coaching, tradition, etc. Also, if you ain't got the horses, you ain't winning regardless of who you schedule. North has some throrobreds for sure. I guess what I am trying to say is I would like to see them run in a Kentucky Derby type race instead of all claiming races. I'll remain silent on the topic untill the postseason rolls around and it's crow season.

Also, played on Thursday because Laurel County is out of school for the World Chicken Festival.
09-25-2015, 05:39 PM
I think North has a very good team, Favorite to win district. I know the teams they have against only have 4 wins between them but fact remains they have beaten them handily.
09-25-2015, 05:51 PM
Actually, just how nice is it to be talking about North on a football forum. Coach Larkey has done a great job and the kids have bought in. Be happy it's week 5 and people are talking about the football Jags. It means they're doing something right.

If NL is as good as some think, then, I would say Harlan Co has improved from start of the season until now.. They hung around for most of the game & a few onside kicks here & there allowed NL to add a few pts.

was it 21-14 at one time? I didn't see an update thread just a box score.

Here's the deal, as been mentioned it's great to see the chatter about the Football Jaguars! Cause for years we were the red headed step child for everyone!! Some have mentioned in other post that the North folks are talking a lot of smack, not the case at all. We are all very proud of the w's along with all the Team effort that we are seeing. But the schedule thing, we can't win even if we are winning?? Nobody is claiming any District titles, Whitley, Letcher & Perry has something to say about all that yet. As soon as these boys loose a game everyone is going to be saying "I told you so!" If we were to loose next week to Whitley it will be "I told you so!" If we were to beat Southwestern in a 2nd round game then were to loose to Pulaski it will be "I told you so!" If we were to make it to Bowling Green and loose to whomever, it will be "I told you so!" So as I said we can't win even if we are winning?? I know everyone has an opinion, they are like noises, everyone has one and that's all good and well, you are in titled to yours as well. But don't you think all of use that enjoy Bluegrass Rivals have read this story enough?? Now I've spoke my peace. God Bless & Go JAGS!!!

The Jags are getting to enjoy success after years of hard work from the players, and coaching staff. The schedule is what it is, can't help it if the district is probably one of the worst in KY football. They've done exactly what has been ask of them, and that's win. Could the non-district schedule be tougher? I'm sure it could but for this year it is what it is. Just keep winning Jags and don't listen to the haters. As for Jag fans bragging or whatever I just haven't seen it, nothing wrong with being proud of your team being undefeated this season so far. Take it from a beatdown, very depressed HC fan you don't always get these kind of years and when you do, enjoy them :Cheerlead
