A new basketball year has begun. What can we expect in 7th grade boys basketball? Who are some of the better teams and players?

Mountian Bears Hyden great team got a kid on there last name is Farler #22 best ball handler I have ever seen for his age. He can see the floor makes unbelievable passes. Actually got to talk to him he is a great all around kid. Also some more solid players on that team dont know their names they are a team to watch. East Perry is also a great team got alot of talent on there.

Clay County's 7th grade team looked really impressive last night. Very well coached. They played hard throughout the entire game. Couple of really nice players.

So, is there not a lot of crossover with 7th grade NP kids?? Their football kids were BEASTS!
Majority of our kids are footballers.

Watched knox 7th last night. they beat south laurel 63-51 i think. knox is pretty good. big and pretty athletic. couple good looking shooters. they are not overly skilled but nice 7th grade team. South is a pretty nice 7th grade team if that tells you anything.

Thanks

Knox and Clay look good this year as does Meece. Should be a fun tourney today. Clay won both their games handily. Knox beat a good Lincoln team and Meece won both of their games with a running clock, beating Shelby East by 25.

Meece's 14 and 15 yr olds make up a great 7th grade basketball team.
11-23-2015, 12:54 AM
Haters gonna hate @ fisherman. Meece kids are legal, as well as all 4 teams in the final four. Congrats to Lincoln on being tourney champs. They played hard. Congrats to North Marshall, they won the 8th grade, beat a Northern team that was missing some key players.
11-23-2015, 01:04 AM
Ur right they are legal by the crazy rules that the kids have to compete by. They should win 95% of their games when they are almost 2 yrs older.
11-23-2015, 01:25 AM
I can't get over it, Every big tournament Meece comes in town with their 10 hold backs and these kids on other teams look at them and know that their beat even before tipoff. I get that their legal but it has to be embarrassing even to step on the court sometimes against 12 yr olds. Great job at teaching our youth ways to win by getting 10 kids to repeat a grade, well done

Can someone post teams that played and how they did in the 8th grade tournament on the 8th grade thread

Oldham, I'm done arguing with you, many teams in the state have hold backs or late starts. It's part of the game, I'm sorry that your little Jonny is scared to compete. The Meece kids play 7th, 8th, Freshman and JV. The Northern kids play 8th, 9th, JV and some play varsity. Meece and Northern (and Southern 2 years ago) aren't afraid to compete with any age. Sorry that you and yours can't. We teach our kids that we love them and want them home under our roof for one more year so that we can help them make better life decisions, regardless of sports. You keep giving your youth excuses. You are probably wanting to not keep score and everyone get a trophy, you may want to go back to the Y, Because Meece, Lincoln, Northern, Clay, Knox, and several other teams playing in the tourney have legal hold backs and will be eligible until they graduate, when they are 19! Wouldn't have it any other way! But we love our kids, I can see how if you don't want your kids around and they can't compete then you can't see my point of view. Keep whining. I'm done. You need an excuse, use the holdback one instead of the fact that your kid can't compete.
LC- it's on KBA website. Final 4 teams in 8th were North Marshall, Northern, Crosby and Eastside. Good tourney. Clay, Boyle, Lincoln, and Knox were there as well as many other good teams.

Laker ur a prick, I don't even have a kid that plays. I can understand 1 or 2 kids on a team being held back, but give me a break having more than half ur team as a hold back come on. Use ur excuse that u want ur kid under ur roof for 1 more yr is bullshit. Ur team, ur coach, u parents abuse the system so little Johnny can feel like he's doing something beating kids 2 yrs under them
11-23-2015, 05:10 AM
Oldham why argue about it with a parent that just doing what they feel is best for their kid. If you got a problem go to khsaa and try get rules changed to more your liking.
11-23-2015, 05:18 AM
And why are you even fussing about Meece. Meece didn't even win this tourny. West jess just lost to Meece by one and Meece got beat by lincoln in the final
11-23-2015, 05:28 AM
Because I over heard one parent talking about how old all their kids were and the parent said that kids at that school don't have a chance to make the 7th grade team because of all the holdbacks, I felt sorry for those kids
11-23-2015, 03:39 PM
Its not a new thing. I went to meece in 1985 and there was 8-9 of us held back that year. I am sure the parents of the kids that did not hold back was well aware and chose not too hold theirs back. So I wouldnt blame just meece parents fault also.
