NewCath 20 CAL 15
#1
Most surprising score of the night.

NewCath downs the defending champs
#2
Wow! Congrats to New Cath
#3
Very surprising considering the year new Cath has had so far, even though they've played good competition.
Hard to believe there is that much separation between Belfry and those two. Belfry is good but I think we can all agree it's not last year's Belfry.
Is there that much separation between 2A and 3A this year?
This makes me think Mayfield could be heavy favorites come playoff time.
Interested to see how the Corbin Mayfield game goes

Belfry is still really, really good. Make no mistake about it.

Defense might not be as dominant as last year but Belfry's Offense is tremendous

Danville in a dog fight with Waggener, Mayfield letting Graves come back..LCA still looks good as does DeSales (who was beating a ranked 5A Fern Creek at last check)

I fully believe Belfry is still a really good team.
One has to start thinking Corbin has regressed at a quicker rate than Belfry after being the early favorite if Corbin loses next week

I really thought CAL would pull this one off. Congratulations to NCC!

This a good win for Newport Cath. congratulations
#8
I'm completely shocked by this one.
#9
Wow!
#10
CAL played without their starting qb Austin Carr.
#11
This is surprising. Congratulations to NCC.

I think the realization that Belfry had bus lag during the first half against Corbin last year is starting to show. Belfry was CLEARLY head and shoulders above Corbin when they finally started playing football. I'm thinking the gap between Corbin and Belfry was never what people thought it was.

As for why Belfry is so good, remember who these kids have been practicing against every single day for the last few years? The best competition they faced was during practice, never games. Great teams are born when practice is harder than games.

After watching NCC the week before, I would have never guessed this resuit. I just didn't see the consistency from NCC on either side of the ball, but I saw some flashes. Literally if Belfry holds on to the football they could have scored 70.

Don't read too much into this. I understand CAL was without the starting qb.

Yes Breds are always fighting their way through their difficult schedule. Great win and hopefully it will propel them going forward.
