Huge win for the Black Bears!!! Sounds like the Bears played with a sense of urgency tonight and that's what it will take to reach their goals this year! Congrats team, keep up the good work.....

Records don't mean a lot when you line up and hit people.

Leonards_loser Wrote:It's Larkey ball......They refuse to throw and usually make fun of the teams that do. Until they realize its an important part of the game and open up the offense a little more, second week of the playoffs is about the max point for the Jags.

You know it'd help to add to the conversation if you would actually go on facts and not decade old assumptions.
It just takes a two minute KHSAA search to see that in 9 years at North they've thrown for right at 6,000 yards.
They rushed and passed more than Somerset last week and scored more offensive points.
Some people would complain about anything, is North a pure passing team, obviously no but every team has their own philosophy, just seems silly to constantly keep knocking because it doesn't fit your agenda or others.

While it's not a ton of yards but North QB has over 2000 yards passing in his 2 and half years, not exactly chopped liver.

They are one dimensional and I'm not complaining. I love seeing them lose Confusednicker:

Schedule, schedule, schedule. I'm afraid this will be a every year thing as long as Larkey is here. Doesn't matter how many games we win if we don't play anyone, get beat when we do play someone, and don't prepare them for the playoffs. I think if they played a tough schedule this year, they could've made a very deep run in state this year with how bad 5A is this year. Now they only have one tough game left before playoffs. When your biggest win all year is South in the 1st game of the year, that's not good at all.

I don't keep up with these games like I used to do so I have no idea who North Laurel has played, but I do agree with your statement on scheduling. It can make a real difference in your playoff ability come season end.

You don't keep up with the games like you used to, yet you're kicking all our butts in the pickem contest. :eyeroll: Confusednicker:

I do a lot of research!
I haven't been able to do anything else for the last month.

AND I copy from 64SUR!!!!!

Little Surprised by this one!
#16
Was way more impressed with Harlan County than North Laurel in this one. North seemed to struggle moving the ball all night, yet continued to run the same stuff over and over.

Congrats Black Bears!
#17
Not surprised by this one. Harlan Co is much better than advertised.

This is not good for North. They've pretty much knocked themselves out of any chance at a dist district title.
Congrats to Harlan county

Congrats to Harlan county

Only chance left now is to run the table, which would mean beating Whitley at Whitley next Friday. Not impossible, but looking more and more unlikely. More likely now that we will finish third or worse in district and have to travel in first round of playoffs. I have never been convinced that this team was as good or better than the district champs of two years ago that made the regional title game.

I'm with you on this team not being as good as two years ago. IMO I don't think it's even close.

I'm surprised. I wasn't overly impressed with Harlan County. Maybe my panthers are better then I thought. Seems like this says more about North then it does Harlan.
#24
Whitley will still win the District
#25
Congrats to the Bears. They are ready to make a run at district now.

Not trying to be a butt but I'm having hard time with folks bashing Larkey about running the ball. Isn't that what HC folks did to his dad and then eventually some of the so called faithful ran him out of town. Look where that got us

I don't have to research to know that North is very one dimensional, and they have never been able to pass the ball when it matters. Throwing for 80 yard TD's against cupcakes is ok to pad the stats and make the WR's happy, but to be able to beat the the better quality teams, North has no confidence at all in the ability to throw the ball.

The schedule is another issue and has been for years now. Larkey has done a very good job building this program back up but to take the next step he has to add good teams to the schedule and challenge his team. Whitley and Harlan Co are good teams and they will play them each season in district, but North needs to drop the pie games and add at least 2 more good teams to the schedule. Somerset is a good step in the right direction. Now add couple more.

After last week, I'd say the series with Somerset is over and they'll have to replace them too. But I agree, you have to be able to throw the ball some nowadays, and they definitely have a qb that can throw the ball really well if they would make it a part of the offense. Heck, even Belfry throws the ball out of all of their misdirection run game.

We had Simmons, Quinton, Creech, our starting QB, two other lineman that I can't think of their names right now and one other starter out for 3 weeks. Coach Creech didn't want anybody talking about this because he said there are no excuses. He said his last night before the game to the WYMT commentators. Everybody has injuries and everybody has to make adjustments. Creech is a wonderful man, IMO and he is teaching our boys to be good men as well as good football players, and that means to take responsibility.

I absolutely don't want to take anything away from KC's win in ANY way, but the truth of the matter is that we were wayyyyyy down for those three weeks. KC has a strong team and I hope they go the distance.

Some did bash him. You could hear them in the stands during the game, and that is disgraceful. I love Coach Larkey and I think he got a horrible deal in his firing.

That being said, far more people didn't want Larkey to leave. It wasn't that he was ran out of town, as far as I know. It was the politics that be and I couldn't explain it if I had a year to try. Tom Larkey is a great coach and I am thrilled that he is having so much success at PCC.

But the fact of the matter is he is no longer at HC. And the fact that Creech FINALLY did take the head coach position, is good for the school and for the kids. He is a great person.

Ur right Granny I'm not faulting Eddie, He was thrown into a tuff situation. I was trying to get across that HC went from a state title contender to 3 straight losing seasons. Eddie was placed in a no win situation
