Corbin 20 Mayfield 17

These type games make you better in November. Both teams should have a long run

Sizemore made enough big plays for Corbin to win. Hounds defense is topnotch.

Congrats to my favorite coach in the state Justin Haddix and the might hounds.

Glad to see 64 finally beat 55.

64 got the better of me tonight. I hope they get the better of everyone else too.

I think Corbin had a great game plan. Mayfield on the other hand, I could not understand. Hurt has been killing it at RB lately. We didn't even use that. The qb with the most diversity and options only got 3 plays at that position tonight. That puzzles me. Then, we move the ball 90 yards down the field on the opening drive just to stop at the 5 or so and miss a fg. Then you move the ball again like clockwork to kick a fg. Then you move the ball 70+ yards to throw a pass in the field of play instead of the zone to end the half. Of course 2 blown coverages really killed us. I remember years when a player blows 1 like that and then gets a break on the side. Should never blow it twice. Corbin did a great job of clock game to keep the cards offense off the field. I still have lots of unanswered questions.

You know this has been said all year. Defense made key stops, Mitchell done excellent flipping the field. But I haven't missed a game and the timing hasn't been there but let's be honest we haven't been playing crap teams. If anyone hasn't paid attention Whitley is having a great year, then Alcoa enough said, Pulaski 5a could be state champs if they can get by southwest, beechwood 1a state champs, and now mayfield 2a state champs. I don't think there are to many offenses that are going to show up and score every time they touch the ball. Not to take anything away from the defense or special teams but I would credit these wins to the team not one part of it, because at the end of the day had the offense not scored when they did we would be setting 0-5 not 4-1. All I am saying is let's give the offense some credit they are laying it all out also. And I am willing to wager that now that the road isn't as curvy they will be able to fine tune things and get the timing worked out, it's hard to do that when your playing some of the best first five out off the gate.

According to the guys on the radio, Halliburton being out with the ankle injury had a lot to do with Guthrie not playing qb. I guess they wanted Guthrie playing just mainly wr since matthews had to play rb instead of wr. I would have liked to seen Guthrie at qb more too with his ability to run It. It sounded like hurt is pretty banged up, cause he is usually in for every play on defense, but was out a few plays last night. I would have liked to seen him run it way more, but its been a brutal 6 weeks, and you have quite a few banged up. At this time of year that expected especially playing that schedule. The Maguet kid from Corbin was very limited too so it's something a lot of teams are going through. Now they should have a chance to rest some players, and get them healthy over the next 4 weeks with 3 games coming up that shouldn't be as brutal plus the off week coming up October 6th. Shouldn't be challenged until Caldwell.

Didn't say the offense didn't do anything. The offenses matched up pretty equally and defense and special teams made the difference....

Yes, I talked to Hurt's dad after game. He sprained his ankle in first half. Dad was kind of upset that he had coaches put him back in. I guess he will have the week off against Murray and then the bye week. Haliburton is going through that same issue. That's why he didn't play. I expected us to lose 2 of these first 6 games prior to season starting. So, I guess we are ahead of schedule. We have lost 1 game every year since 09. I hope this is that only 1. I just don't know what to make of it. We just made some strange decisions.

You don't win them all with this kind of scheduling but it makes you more likely to win when the leaves have changed colors
#54
I've said the the same thing since week 1. Win or lose, Corbin and their opponents are better teams for playing one another thus far. Competition brings the cream to the top.
#55
Not sure I understand all the analysis. Hurt is the heart of that team. Does everything. Without him, on this night others didn't step up. Cards will be better for it. Probably a blessing.

A big win for the Hounds. Anytime you can beat a class program like Mayfield, it's a big win.

Is Keith hurt for Corbin? I haven't noticed him playing the past few games.
#57
With the way the hounds and the Eagles played on defense, it's a good thing that the bye week is close. I hope this isn't the bell tolling for the end. I hope instead, it is a wake up call and a rally point moving forward.

I dont understand early in the game were on about their 12 yard line 4th and two and we dont go for it this is rediculous to me its early wont hurt a thing if we make it and end up scoring thats the difference in the game. That anf our corner not covering his man killed us Kentucky did it 2 times against Florida and was way more obvious than our game was.
