Over Sammons? Haha you Raceland fans are hilarious. Eli Sammons is the best pocket passer in the area. I will agree Griz did not call a good offensive game. Should have thrown the ball more to open up the run.

Big baby ,, take your sss Whooping snd move on .. Ashland will wear greenup out . 3rd place in your district one playoff game . Same ole greenup
If Raceland was in the same district as Greenup they would also be 3rd place in the same district. Would get absolutely destroyed by JC and already beat by Ashland. That tough single A district you play in is tough. I rest my case on why people donât like Raceland. When you lose in the state championship itâs the same as everyone else, you didnât win it all. No one remembers 2nd place. Sorry for the hard reality. Not a fan of either school but just an old fart that likes to watch good football and making an observation.

Umm you just said and I quote ...nobody remembers second place but you just referred to Raceland making to the championship game so..... I guess you remember them being there last year

Well itâs hard not to when thatâs all thatâs been brought up in these forums the past week. I have heard about this team and comparing them to last years team that made it to the state championship. Like I said I just made an observation and just an old fart that likes to watch local football. Iâm not here to start anything but I just felt some Raceland fans are taking some unnecessary pot shots at GC kids and their fans with some of the things they have said on here.
Thought both sides have some have some talented kids. Really like GC QB and like #2 from Raceland. Still canât believe they got the game in this weekend.

You know I like Raceland fans and love reading their posts they are the best and make me laugh. But what you said is not true I said last year that if Raceland held Pikeville to 14 points they win and the fact is I was right. Now this is a different year and I just watched that game today between Raceland and Greenup and hard to make an assessment because of the conditions and circumstances with the delay. Paintsville is the only team you guys to need to worry about in your district because thatâs the first step in getting to where you want to get. Then we will talk about who ever comes out of the other district. Hope itâs Pikeville but a lot of games between now and then but as always GO PANTHERS!!!

i have been one of the biggest critics of Mikes play calling. The tempo is often sluggish amd I think the boys become just that at times. That being said, against a team like Greenup that can score quickly, that is exactly what allowed us to control the game. Some say on a dry field its a different ball game. that is 100% true. Raceland's DBs were slipping and sliding on every snap (as were GCs). Gunner Lewis is a great cover corner he made several deflections that were SMART deflections, bc a few had he whiffed on an INT attempt, it would have been a TD. The deep middle is what Sammons loves to throw, and I think they didnt take advantage of the 10-15 yard cushion we constantly gave them and work the underneath stuff, and due to a few missed throws, Scott went away from it too soon. I think on a dry field Raceland wins by 4 or 5 scores, bc our OL dominsted the game for the most part on what looked to be skates. Back to play calling, I have seen more out of Mike this year that tells me that alot of last years complaints I had w the play calling, were based off of personel options.
New year, same result. Rams win...we still find something to bitch about lol. but that comes with expectations. My positives though...the trophy stays put and both parties worked hard to get the game in. Racelands OL and DL are arguably the best in the area, the 1-2 punch looks promising, Gunner Lewis is turning into a shut down corner (has to work on his run assignments though and getting if blocks better), and Daltin Adkins is a heat seeking missile at safety (though his aggression leaves us susceptible to bug plays iver the middle). Greenup was better this year. Seemed to be in better shape and more disciplined, and tackled a helluva a hole lot better. They, as any team with a young HC, are still growing. Scott has a crazy bright future, just takes experience and thats simething you cant hurry up.

In the pocket? Id agree, he is bigger, has a stronger arm, and has experience over Heighton. As a play maker though? Give me Heighton. Sammons is a great kid and ball player, dont get me wrong, but when the pocket breaks down, so does he. And for a young QB Heighton never panics. He has really impressed me this year.

Absolutely over him , he is willling to run the ball and extend plays . Griz took Racelands offensive to geeenuo one of the main parts is a QB who can and is willing to run and thatâs not gonna happen at greenup

Greenupâs QB has the skill set, size and arm strength to play at a Mid Major D1 School. Who knows, maybe higher if he progresses. You cannot say he isnât a great HS QB. I donât know many teams that would turn him down. Grizzle may have altered his offensive strategy but a good coach evaluates his players and adapts to that skill set.

Time to move on , Iâll look forward to next year hearing how much work greenup has done in the off season like nobody else works then hear how great they are after winning a 7 on 7 them watch them crumble when the pads come on .. until next year guys good luck the rest of the year

From what I saw, the Greenup QB just missed a bunch of throws. I didn't see any big pass rush or anything. He was left to stand back in the pocket and just miss throws. He may be able to play some level of college because of his size, but I agree that Raceland's QB is a better high school QB for what they do. Ashland's QB is way better than both.
Greenup's record should be 7-3 this year rather than 6-4 of last year. Their main goal should be to win a playoff game. That would be progress over last season.

If GC QB went to Raceland he would be the starter. Racelands offense has never been about the QB running. Grizzle was not a good running QB. Boyleâs was not a good running QB. Both say in the pocket and hit short passes and took chances deep when they could. Raceland has had good running backs in the past that allows them to run the ball in a spread offense. But saying you would take a QB that will play In some big time college football over a kid that will not be a college football player is insane. Just because heâs the Raceland QB doesnât mean he is the best since sliced bread. He had a good game against GC but to say he is a better QB shows me you need to get out of Raceland and watch some other football.

I think he can play college ball at a small school somewhere but from what I saw he didnât look like a âbig timeâ college player. I think people are too quick to call someone a D1 player especially in this area. This is not to knock the kid as I do think he can play at a small college but true big time college prospects donât struggle against a Class A defense that would be mediocre at best in comparison to other teams from bigger classes.

I 100% agree with you that people are to quick to call kids D1 good in this area. However, the GC QB has some really goods things working in his favor. 1. His coach seems like a person who will help get him recruited. 2. He has great size and we all know you canât teach size or speed. 3. He has a really good arm. Now Iâm not saying he doesnât have things to work on cause he does but we have to remember as well is he is a 16 maybe 17 year old kid. Heâs gonna mature. I am not saying heâs going to go to Alabama or a power five conference, but I do see him playing in a mid major somewhere. Even at schools like those he will be playing with a lot better talent and he will receive some coaching that is well beyond what any coach can give him in the 16th Region. Just my opinion. I just donât like when people around our area doesnât give a kid his credit when he is deserving of that. Itâs like just because he goes to a rival school and doesnât ply for Raceland he isnât good at all.

I can respect that and honestly I hope my assessment is completely wrong and Iâm watching him play at a big school in the next few years.

I believe we are missing a very important part of the equation....one is a Sophomore and one is a junior! we all can reevaluate next year!

FWIW, Grizzle wasnt a running QB and the offense was more wide open at that time, based more on the intermediate passing game to open up the run game, similar to what Greenup is doing now, only they use more verticle routes, generally. Tyler Boyles in the other hand was a dual threat QB. KHSAA wont let me into the stats on the 2008 season, but I know for a FACT Boyles had atleast 2 games where he rushed for 100 yds or more and had several others that his legs were a major factor, as well as his arm. To say he wasnt a good rushing QB is nuts. And in response to people having an issue with someone "from a rival school not giving a kid credit, just bc they arent from Raceland", Just bc some felt that Heighton looked better in this game (5 of 7 passing vs 9 of 24 for Sammons)...doesnt mean Sammons isnt a quality QB with D1 potential. Lets all have a coke and a smile, and move along. Sammons has a big arm, size, and good feet in the pocket. Heighton has a different skill set, amd on this weekend was more successful.

You my friend canât comprehend English! I was just saying he is a good player and a lot of teams would take him. You like Heighton, I do too. But no one is butt hurt. I also stated that Grizzle is being a great coach by altering his coaching style to fit his athletes. Umm they both are male so unless there is a medical condition I’m not aware of the both have balls...and they both throw balls! In all seriousness idk how you compare the two when one is a first year starter and the other has ...I believe been the starter since he was a freshman! The fact that we even thank Heighton is close to or as good as Sammoms just tells me that young Heisman ( might have just given away my identity to his dad) has a very bright future ......GO RAMS!!

Ok genius .. Racelands offense is a spread RUN offense designed by Tony Franklin and Randy Vanderhoof , Bc raceland was trying to figure out a way to compete with northern KY teams to spread them out keep them out of the box and use the QB as a runner too Bc it creates more of a advantage. my son played QB at Raceland I know you have a very high opinion of yourself and already knew all of that right ?? No u donât know much about anything

Geenup will struggle to beat good teams Bc of being so predictable, a lot of Raceland and Russellâs fans on here complain about the offense Bc of just using one back the majority of the time thatâs where the QB run come into play . Greenup has one running back and a QB who is a pocket passer and donât run so who is the defense keying on ? That offense will work against some teams and teams your just better than but not well coached ones. Racelands defensive coordinator has been coach 40 plus years you gotta come up with more than that . Ashland will do the same
