Oh business is about to be finished alright. Boyle is about to see Central in the ship, while Belfry puts on their YellowJacket hats and yellow and black pompoms and another "As the World Turns" episode will air out on Bluegrassrivals. For me, I'm done with the whole joint and just bide my time until I decide to really say what I want. It's gonna be a great day.

Congratulations to Boyle County

Not this Belfry fan. I want the winner to be whoever wins the Boyle/Corbin game next week! Not a big Central fan at all.

Like I said in the prediction thread, Boyle County is just on another level this season! Nice job Rebs!

Congrats on a great season Pirates! I'm sure you will be back bigger and better next season.

I know I’ll get raked over the coals for this...But after 2 straight early playoff exits (by Belfry standards). Does Phillip Haywood take a long look at the “R” word this off-season? It’s not wishful thinking on my part. High School Football is better with him in it. Considering his age coupled with the fact that the talent he has coming up through the JR. High ranks hasn’t looked that impressive the last couple years (Again, by Belfry standards)....It is more than a fair question IMO

IMHO, I think next year may very well be his last. Two more years at the most. The man has had a legendary career. Nothing else to prove.

I don’t think so. I think he goes at least another 1-3 years unless his health changes. I know he wants to see the new turf project completed.....and I also think he has a great, great chance at getting #7 next season. So unless something drastic changes....I think we continue to see Haywood stalking the sidelines.

He has already said unless his health or his wife’s health goes south he’s staying he says he’s still having fun so I look for five more years out of him at least he’s 67 and don’t look like he’s slowing down at all so he will be there 5 more

Not sure about best coach. I will say Smith did show some sportsmanship in the last 2:30 of game. Boyle could have probably tacked ion another score....but chose not too.
I am with you and I am sure Smith is one heck of a coach.Coach Phillip Haywood has probably forgotton more about the game of football than most high school coaches will ever know.jmo

Boyle was giving Belfry some gifts as well. They had a bunch of dumb penalties - especially in the first half. The total yardage stat would have been pretty one sided if Boyle hadn't had such a short field all night. Factor in the dumb move to not kick the field goal in the first half, and taking a knee on the last possession, and the score could have been much worse the other way.

See - anyone can play the "what if" game and make it look like anything they want. The fact is that ALL of it is part of the game, including fumbles.

It sounded to me as if Belfry gave a great effort as long as they could, but were over matched in the end.

Still had a really nice season. They came to play tonight though. It was awesome watching my son, the center #55 Ethan Wolford, battle with big Wilson Kelly all night! Those young men battled in the trenches.

Want to know who the first person was to message my son tonight after the game to congratulate him on a great game and season? It was WILSON KELLY! This young man took the time to send my son a message giving him props. Talk about first class and great sportsmanship! Shows alot about the young man and the kind of program that Coach Smith runs at Boyle. That meant alot to my son and me. Wilson Kelly, I have all the respect in the world for you young man. Good luck big guy.
The Boyle County program is nothing but class.

I doubt Boyle is in that position if Belfry goes up 17-0 and don't turn the ball over on short field. So that's put the " What If " in there.

Belfry lost to a better team no shame in that.

Boyle is in year 2 of atleast a 3 year run of state championships in my opinion.

I agree but I think that run could stretch out to 5-6 years.

I will miss not getting to see the Pirates in Lex. The years they were in BG and we were we got to know some of the Pirate faithful. Good folks. Congrats to Boyle on their win

Belfry was overmatched at one position and one position only and that was the Reese Smith matchup. Much respect to that young man. And your cheap comment about homer announcers was bush league and uncalled for. There was one homer call the whole game and it was very justified on the pass interference call against Dixon. Otherwise I challenge you to provide any other proof of a homer broadcast. Btw, it’s all in the rear view mirror, but I have not seen any of the Boyle fans address that interference call or how the Rebels were knocked back by a truly physical team. Nothing but respect for Boyle going forward. As I left last night with my wife we were carrying all our stuff and I told my wife I wanted to do something. I went down to the end of the field and introduced myself to Coach Smith whom I had never met. I told him congratulations and good luck and to have a safe trip home. He said thank you. Best of luck to Boyle and a heck of an effort for the Pirates.

The pass interference call happened right in front us, and there was definitely contact by the DB before the ball arrived the only way he could get to the ball was to go thru Smith, IMO that’s the only good call that side judge made all night.

Respect you Jack always have always will. Nothing changes that and congrats on the win. I have already watched the replay multiple times on Facebook. They have it in real time and in slow motion and it is as good a defensive play as a CB can make. Perfect break on the ball with left hand contact with the ball and player simultaneously and deflection to Cook for the TD. Coaches out there would not have coached it any different. Would it could it ole iffin game have changed things? No way to know that. But by far the biggest call of the game.

I was at the game. Take away Belfry 5 fumbles and the Dixon kid getting hurt at beginning of 3rd quarter Belfry is right with Boyle county. Boyle county did impress me. I look for Boyle to get beat at Corbin next week. Lou. CENTRAL wins 3A. the Dixon kid from Belfry was running it down Boyle co. Throat until he got hurt.

Sorry....but the eye in the sky doesn’t lie. I’ve seen the slo mo video of the play.....just a clean quality play.....especially when you’re seeing from the camera facing the play. That being said....quality teams make you play for self inflicted mistakes. And Boyle made Belfry pay. Again, tip of the hat.

Apparently you don't know who Belfry has coming back next year and Boyle co., corbin, LOU. Central and lex. Catholic are moving up to 4A. Belfry will win 3A next year
I look for Pikeville to fade for a couple of years. They lose a lot of players.
