Boyle Co Spring Practice

Frank Martin Wrote:What do this even mean? He’s 11 or 12 yo?

I think he meant 7th grader, he just turned 14 about a month or so ago.

He's still in the middle school. The leash becomes much shorter very soon.

Time will tell.

Kid turned 14 in February and he looks like he's about 25. If he was sixth grade this last year, he'd be 14 7th, 15 8th, then graduating at 19 like a lot of kids do.

IMO the maturity will come.. I think back to how I was as a 14 year old and if I was as good of a player as he is and had as much attention as he has had I'd have had the biggest head in the world. He'll be fine.

For those of you that don't know, the kid scored like 11 TDs in the final four in the state tourney this past season.

Top 5 FBU player nationally.

He's a freak. Nice kid.

But he has to understand what it's going to take to get on the Boyle Co HS field and anything less than 110% won't cut it.

Again...time will tell.

Wraps up today with a scrimmage. 😎🏈

I wish teams could scrimmage each other in the spring. Missed out opportunity to generate money for some charities and do some good, and get a little football in.

Some schools could hardly field a team because of Spring Sports. We have most if not all of the linemen but hardly any skill kids.

Like I said interesting! Time will tell. I am sure there will be some fireworks along the way. Boyle Middle said it would be there way as well. But not the case that I was told by many parents.

I get that, it doesn't even have to be a true game. 3 hour slot, do lineman drills vs another team, half line drills, 8 man football drills, whatever. A little competition vs another team that both teams can get something from.

I know the BCMS HC very well. He is a great guy and coach with a bright future. He has a great relationship with Moorman and worked with him to conform to the program. He thinks Moorman WANTS to do the right thing and has confidence in him that he will.

IF you actually spoke with Boyle parents, they don't know what they're talking about.

It is a great time to be a Rebel. 😎

IMO Spring Practice was a pretty good one. The OL is mostly new, but had some guys step up. DL is going to be very good.

Socco looked really good at RB and Lanter had a good Spring and has gained some weight. WR had a couple of bright spots with Colwick (when he was able to attend) and Sophomore to be (younger) Lanter.

I truly believe this year will be memorable.

O - OT, RB

D - CB, DE

A couple of good special teamers.

That is all.

We only lost one OT but the oline is mostly new? How does that work?

Two returning starters (Edmiston, Bischoff...maybe a third), injuries last year stealing experience/reps and lots new faces.

Kelly is DL.

Been out of the loop lately, who will start online and have they grown any? Size as of spring game?
#47
All is well and back to championship performances. I do look for another title this season with the depth and returning talent.

The Rebels will be one of the favorites to win the next 4-5 4A titles.

Just a guess by me....

Edmiston is a lock to start at LT. He looks bigger, over 300 lbs.

Bischoff should start at C again. He's probably a little over 200 lbs.

Zach Mason will be one of the G. He's around 6'0" 280 lbs.

Jackson Lakes has improved and should start. He's around 270.

Several others will fight for the last spot.
#50
Gotcha. Watched several other teams spring games and missed ours.
#51
With the vast majority of our skill kids playing other sports, you didn't miss anything.

I have heard the attitude and focus is where it should be.

Anything less than a state title is an underachievement IMO.
#52
I have been able to talk to over 100 coaches so far this off season evaluating their linemen. Going to try to swing over to Lexington Catholic next week. Curious to see what they have. District foe. My Anderson County connection is no longer there so I am going to head there tomorrow. I will keep everyone updated.
#53
We got our answer....

Word has it that Moorman has moved back to Frankfort. I'm not surprised one bit.
#54
He’s going to Western Hills. He’s cousins with Wandale.

If so, he's always been cousins with WanDale and chose to come to Boyle Co. So what do your two sentences have to do with each other?

Now he's going back to the school system where he was (Bondurant/Western Hills). Like I knew he would.

I wish the kid well and I hope he handles his business because he has a ton of potential.

I was just making a statement I didn’t mean anything about it. Meant it more so as that’s the connection with western hills. There’s plenty of schools in frankfort, that’s probably why he chose that one.

I understand.

He went to Bondurant MS which feeds Western Hills HS before he transferred to Boyle Co. What changed in him over the course of the year? Coaches/parents said they had spoken/worked with him and thought he could do it here and be a huge success and be one early. Now he's leaving.

I just wonder if he did so because he had to or was it football related? Again, I wish him well. He is a good kid.

I don’t understand this move at all. We are set to compete for a state title every year for the foreseeable future and you go to a program that will be lucky to have a winning record. Hills has a decent 2022 class but still nothing like Boyle’s.
#59
When did he leave Boyle?

That makes it a little tougher without Moorman.
