This maybe the best game in this area this week, I like Knox Central QB Brady Worley he is one tough cookie, only problem who going to replace the receivers from last year, hearing tay turner is back from a broken arm that’s a big plus. Knox should also be the biggest team in the area.
Knox Central 35
Ashland 28

If this game were being played in Ashland, I would have to go with the Tomcats. As it is, I think Knox will get the win at home.

Panthers by 7

I agree with Westside on this. That's a long haul from one end of the state to the other. Dont care what anyone says when you have to travel 3 plus hours it's hard on the players. That being said I like my Panthers by 10

"I don't know a lot about Knox" Yet you predict a 21-20 win?
Only someone from ASH-land can come up with a well thought out brainiac forecast like that. You guys live in your own little imaginary world.

It's easy to understand why he would make a prediction like that and when you look at it deeply he's actually being quite generous.
When you have a player like notsobad it's easy to be confident in predicting a win.

Was being respectful of Knox!!!Ashland is explosive and will break enough BiG plays to put away the Panthers!!! JC is going to miss Putnam!!!

Bob Seger is the definition of a bad winner with little class, but Ashland fans should give up any arguments with him because Johnson Central did draw a clear line between the men and the boys in this rivalry. It wasn't even close.
As for this game, it looks like Knox is a passing team who returns their QB along with their leading rusher. Ashland appears to have some weaknesses in the secondary in their scrimmages, so this one could be another game like the Harlan County game 2 years ago...long bus ride for a loss to start the season. Maybe this year's Ashland team has something different with all the senior leadership along the line and with Hester. We will see.

Knox QB looks solid on film. Seems very confident. They are big across the offensive line, particularly the two tackles. The running game looked pretty good against Estill County, but I have no feel at all for how good Estill is. Iâm fairness, it looks like some of the running plays take a little long to develop and rely a bit on the hope that the DL is a little slow to react based on how some of the plays are blocked. Knox throws a lot of screens, but the QB can toss it down the field as well and has a nice arm. I didnât get a good read on which receivers are back or how good the receivers this year are. However, I would imagine with a 4A school that they have fine receivers ready to step up.
Defensively, my opinion is they seem somewhat susceptible to the run and will have difficulty matching the speed of Hester and Pittman. Their MLB is good size and they have at least two very fine DL. Overall, they seem to have average team speed on D.
Ashlandâs offensive line is pretty good as a unit with one or two exceptional linemen. Ashlandâs QB has worked hard, but is untested. We have kids who can catch the ball but need to be able to get it to them. Hester and Pittman are game changers. I suspect the game may have a higher score than expected. Overall, I think Knox has a really strong team.
Other than the DTs for Ashland, the defense is somewhat smallish when compared to Knox. Essentially, Ashland has replaced 3 of the 4 DL from last year. They have three wrestlers on front line. (They start 5 on defense) Pretty disciplined. The LBs are small, but aggressive and get a lot of tackles. Replaced half of the secondary this year. In scrimmages, Ashland starters have stopped the run well against 2A to 6A schools. They have been a little susceptible to the long pass though.
Iâm going with the nod to my Tomcats despite the long trip: 33-27

If KC can stop the Ashland RBś then they pull out the win. That is a big IF.

Knox has about 35 kids out this year.
