Those same coaches that haddix has been beating for the last 5 years?

Belfry has a 606 coach. How many times did you beat them?

Hound05 Wrote:Haddix > any 606 coach
To be clear....you do realize that Philip Haywood is a "606 coach", correct? And that Jim Matney is a 606 coach as well?
Justin Haddix is a great coach, and clearly has some things really figured out as a head coach, but to say that he is better than those two is to, among other things, is to ignore that one of the two is the winningest football coach in the history of Kentucky high school football. No big deal?

So, to get back to the Corbin vs. Beechwood game...â¦

A few thoughts on Beechwood:
Everyone around northern Kentucky, Beechwood fans included, have been very open in the offseason about the fact that this team is going to be an almost entirely new cast of starting players, and that with the exception of quarterback Cam Hergott, they didn't have many standout players. In other words, this Beechwood team was not going to be on the same level going into the season as the Beechwood team from last year or from the year before. Coach Noel Rash even touched on that a little in an interview he did for the podcast of one of the local TV sports reporters.
Most of Beechwood fans I've spoken to have expected a 0-4 start to the season this year, although most have hoped that they might be 1-3 with one win coming from one of the first three games of the season. Their record thus far comes as no surprise to anyone who knows northern Kentucky football.
By the end of the game against Painstville, Beechwood had lost their #1, #2, and #3 running backs to injuries. All three of them are also their starting linebackers. I was told the #1 man, Derry, is going to be out for a good bit of the season with a knee injury from the Paintsville game. I think they had the #3 man back for the Somerset game last week.
This should be a win for Corbin. They're 4A and Beechwood is one of (I think THE) smallest team in 2A. I'm saying Corbin has at least 3 more touchdowns than Beechwood in this one. If they don't, then I'm kind of underwhelmed by Corbin, to be honest.

I take Corbin in a close one. 21-20, when was the last time Beechwood started a season 0-3?
09-11-2019, 04:51 PM
I think this is a dangerous game for Corbin. I know Beechwood lost almost everything but this team isnt use to losing. Their playing at home and will do everything in their power to keep from going 0-3. This lose would be devastating to the Hounds. I think it will be close but in the end Corbin finds a way to win:
Corbin 20
Beechwood 17
Corbin 20
Beechwood 17

It's probably been since the 1980s. Maybe the early 1990s. The KHSAA scoreboard goes back to 1998, and they've had zero 0-3 starts in that time period. They did start out 1-4 in 2009, 2010, 2012. In 2009 they ended up losing to Mayfield in the 1A finals, and in both 2010 and 2012 they lost to Mayfield in the 1A semifinals. Beechwood has a longstanding track record of starting out with very tough schedules to test themselves early. "Iron sharpens iron." Personally, I would be surprised to not see Beechwood make it to at least the 2A semifinals this year...or at very least make it to whatever point in the playoffs they see Somerset or Mayfield.

The only hurdle preventing this Beechwood team from making it to the semifinals I think would be Breathitt County, and that would still require seeding to match them up in round 3.
I think the final 4 in 2A will up being Mayfield, Beechwood, Breathitt and either Somerset or LCA.

Honestly I didnât realize and Iâm sure Hound05 didnât either that the 606 area code extended that far... None the less itâs hard to compare Haddix with most of the coaches being brought into this equation for the simple fact that theyâve been coaching for decades longer some of them before he was even born....Would I give up those coaches to bring him in nope prolly not but to have accomplished what he has at Corbin in the short time heâs been here is pretty impressive no matter how you want to spin it especially for a guy thatâs still in his mid 30âs and where our program was at when he took over...

Back to the topic no matter whatâs said or thought on here anybody who thinks going to play at Beechwood and winning is gonna be as easy as some of you are making it are either haters or not much into high school football, and I donât care what they maybe missing the kids they do have will show up to play....

I'm still waiting to see what Breathitt is really made of. They're strong, obviously, and there's a lot of talk about them (I don't think having the transfer kid's dad writing for Kentucky Prep Gridiron is hurting that at all either) but looking at their schedule, it's not like Jenkins, South Laurel and Magoffin are really big wins. And frankly speaking, there just isn't anyone on Breathitt's regular season schedule that is going to really raise any eyebrows with a win for the Bobcats. Not that they're all cupcake teams, but none of them are "powers" at this point. And South Laurel is the only team that isn't 1A, 2A, or 3A on their schedule.

I grew up in Fort Mitchell and went to Covington Catholic. Most of my best friends are Beechwood graduates and I've nothing but respect for them and their program. I have followed Beechwood football for over 30 years and cheer for Beechwood every week of their season except the week they are playing CCH. But this is going to be a Corbin win. I'm not saying Corbin won't have to show up to play, but I really think the Redhounds are going to handle the Tigers in this one. No shame in that for Beechwood. But they're just not going to win this.

Iâve seen game film on Beechwood and Iâll admit they arent what theyâve been the last couple years, but like you said Corbin is gonna have to show up and play thereâs a reason that no one has won on their field in a very long time.... Iâm not saying that Iâm not confident in the Hounds but Iâve seen running clocks in some of these comments and I just donât see Beechwood rolling over and making it easy if for no other reason they have a really really good coaching staff

JMO- but history shows truth!!!
1. Haywood
1. Dudley Hilton
2. Jim Matney
3. Johnny Hines
4. Dixon at Hazard
5. Jerry Herron
6. McNamee
All have better resumes than Haddix.
He will be in the list before to long..
Looking at KHSAA corbin history, Powers had several state titles and Adams had state title and Jewell had runner-up title. I donât believe Haddix yet has the best resume of Corbin coaches.

Haddix is a good dude. I donât know if I have met a more competitive person. If he decides to stay and time allows him to coach for a long tenure, he is going to keep winning and the results will go his way if he keeps putting himself in big game situations. I like his style. I also respect these other coaches mentioned, they are no doubt some of the best ever. He will be one of the best ever as well. Go Hounds!

He wouldnât get rid of Farris and his old style of ground and pound and he paid for it. I like both jewel and Farris but they didnât need to be there as long as they were. Itâs just a fact. Years and years and talent wasted.

Corbin (Jewell) - 36
Perry Central (Haddix) - 8
Corbin was knocked out by State Runner up Wayne who lost the championship 3-0 to Belfry!

Get those Republican votes in while you can, because once you die you'll be voting Democrat.
