So who's the best team in the West now? Henderson Co.?

Let me guess they all had the flu tonight? Or was it pneumonia?
Defense rests your honor.

Congrats to McCracken. They took it to Mayfield. I thought before the season this would be a 15-0 team for Mayfield. I was not concerned at all about the Offense, but it is not as good as I thought it would be this year. The Defense which is what I questioned is definitely not Championship caliber. Long season ahead to try to improve, but if both sides of the ball don't improve, especially on the defensive side this team won't win a gold ball. Somerset is definitely #1 for now. If they played tomorrow I don't think it would even be that competitive, but plenty of time still to go.

Luck ran out tonight. Mayfield should be 2-2. McCracken whooped us all night up front. They laid out the gameplan to beat Mayfield. Line up and throw it deep. #9 couldnt defend my 90 year old grandmother.

Id say its a close call between a few. Them, and Madisonville would both make a good case unless your counting Warren County teams also.

Lots of penalties for McCracken, but their passing game scored points which is what Mayfield forced them to do. Henderson beat Hoptown. Wow and Wow.

I'll also say I don't blame Jackson Purchase for getting his shot in in the other thread. Their are a few that run that mouth to much to much on here, and since his team did some humbling I say let him have at it there is a few that deserve some crow. Guess that McCracken line must have been pretty good. I don't even post much anymore cause it gets so ridiculous at times.

Mayfield got beat in all aspects of the game. If McCracken's band had shown up they would have won that too.

Better team won. Lots of things to work on.

Probably his choice of words that got him suspended.

If our defense don’t find a way to stop teams and in a hurry it’s gonna be a long season. I may catch flack for this and at this point I really don’t care but this may be the worse defensive team we have fielded.

Our guys don’t hustle and they walk on and off the field. It’s embarrassing! They don’t play with any emotion and constantly hang their heads if something doesn’t go there way.

Coaches better get this team going in the right direction if they want to even come close to playing for a state championship.

Not much to say here, beat in every aspect of the game. Congrats McCracken. If I see a Mustang fan I will tip my hat, they were better period. Maybe we can learn from this and get better. Clearly we have a lot of work to do and I just didn't not see it and I am a way above average follower of the sport. Again, congrats to McCracken, better in every way. Gotta get off here and go find me a dead crow

Congrats to MCHS, a very good team. My takeaway is that get Mayfield into a dog fight and you’ll have real shot at winning. We have speed but no meat on defense. I don’t see much fight from our guys in the trenches. After Murray and Caldwell will tell us where we stack up.

My question is why did the helmet to helmet not get 14 tossed?

The Madisonville game is the one I can't wait to see.

I don’t think it is an ejectable penalty in high school

Because that isn’t an ejection. We learned that from Arnett 2016. They ejected him and the refs used that very call as training at the beginning of the next year and the commissioner told them this is not an ejection. 15 yards, no ejection.

Great job by all the Mustangs. Offense did what I thought they could do plus some. The line did what a few others on here thought. I'll give my full and most true compliment to the defense and special teams. Most may think giving up 35 isn't much to respect, but they worked as a unit all night!!! Congrats to all involved

That’s what I was going by when they threw Arnett out in Owensboro

Wow, I will say that McCracken came to play and our red birds did not. It was pretty simple the line play was the difference. Their qb had enough time to brush his teeth before throwing the ball. This caused our db’s to have to cover longer. You can’t cover that long. Our qb had absolutely no time and was running for his life. Our kicking game was a bright point absent missing the 2 field goals. He kept them backed up. Tough loss but, I don’t think all is lost.

CARDFAN16 Wrote:My question is why did the helmet to helmet not get 14 tossed?

Yeah in high school you're not supposed to get ejected but if they do sometimes they won't reverse it.
#29
Our defense is horrible don’t see anyway to fix it. Small up front dbacks can’t keep up don’t have to have much time when you can just sling it down the field and the secondary can’t look back for the ball because they are trying to catch up. All this and the biggest problem to me is they don’t act like they care. This is not a team to put on the red helmet I thought I would ever see.
#30
I would have liked to see our defense in more of a prevent defense on the last play of the half, almost like a free touchdown and one of the biggest plays of the game. There was just seven seconds and about 35 yds to go. I'm not a coach so it really doesn't matter. The better team won tonight, try to correct the mistakes and move on.
