Shelby Valley 61 Prestonsburg 14
#1
Final from SV

Wildcats scored early and often.

Blackcats have to put this one behind them and regroup. There’s still some winnable games left on the schedule.

No surprise here... congratulations valley.

In my opinion, Prestonsburg has a chance at winning one more game this year and that being Bath County. East Carter will be the one seed, followed by Shelby Valley and Martin County. Prestonsburg has taken some steps in the right direction, but the rebuild will take another 2-3 years.

I just hope they schedule tougher opponents and develop the young guys. I have always said SV should absolutely be able to field a good football team every year. Looks like they are gaining momentum.

Same situation happened my senior year at Betsy Layne. We played the same teams that use to beat us and then blew everyone out and it screwed us for playoffs cause we didn’t play a tough team besides Prestonsburg.

Prestonsburg would be alright if they could keep the kids in house.

You don't have to look too far from Floyd County to see some very talented kids who should be Blackcats. It's sickening to thing of the team that could've been.

All the kids who started in Prestonsburg and are at other schools seem to be doing great and so are their teams. I’m personally happy for the kids, as a Pburg alum it sucks that they aren’t excelling in red and black, but it is what it is.

The culture at PHS just needs to stay positive and they’ve got to do things the right way and things will work out. They’ve got a good crop of athletes coming up over the next several years and if they put in the work during the off season then they’ll be back to where we’re used to Prestonsburg being.

As a Betsy Layne fan, this comment resonates with me and I have the same feelings. Happy for those kids that left us but boy makes you wonder what teams Betsy Layne would’ve had over the years. Would’ve been scary but obviously I’m biased.
